We've only just bought it (we already had their PREVENT course) so few have completed it yet; most staff will do it on the next INSET day. Yes, the admin can see who's done it (and how many attempts users had!). It's fairly generic but not bad. All new staff also have a general security session with me anyway re locking machines, passwords etc.

Here we compromise on that; although our supply staff don't have SIMS access they do have access to some confidential data via our intranet, e.g. basic SEN, PPI details etc - they need this to do an effective job.

We do exactly the same as you Mark, but they don't have access to SIMS; they use paper registers. Password changed for each issue, of course. Long term supply (e.g. illness, maternity etc) have "proper" accounts.

Thanks, for now I think we'll have to just go for the very basic built-in O365 MDM (requires device password, selective wipe available) coupled with raising staff awareness of the potential DP issues. We'll go for the more granular/fully-featured InTune when (if ever) funds allow.

Two very basic and related questions (doh!) 1. Is any level of InTune included free in an OVS-ES agreement? Yet to find a definitive answer in the Microsoft labyrinth... 2. Does one need InTune licensing to use any of its features? We're looking at MAM (e.g. OneDrive mobile policy) rather than full MDM, and noticed that we can create a policy in the Azure portal but don't seem to be able to apply it to anyone. Is that simply because we're not licensed?

Can parental replies to InTouch messages be auto-forwarded to the originating member of staff's school email? Thus they'd notice a reply even without being in SIMS...

Bullying was one of our main concerns too (and raised by students); last thing you want is a Y7 not going all day because they're worried. But we wouldn't have cameras at all if we had open urinals like in the BBC photo - that's insane!

We have them pointing at sinks/doors (we don't have urinals). Invaluable for tracing flooders, graffiti artists and absconders from lessons. And asked for by students, actually!

We've now narrowed down our search for a safeguarding reporting system to CPOMS and My Concern. I know each have their users here - did anyone compare the two before choosing either? Reasons?

On a related note, has anyone found a way of restricting what types of files students can store in OneDrive? We're changing over to it soon, and therefore potentially moving away from what is currently very tightly controlled (and easy to monitor) on-site storage regarding rogue EXEs, billions of MP3s etc. Seems like an oversight if there's no way to police OD use...

I run Firefox with uBlock Origin on both Windows and Lubuntu. Same versions of FF (55) and uO (1.14.10), same uO settings. Any ideas why the rather intrusive ads now being served by the Guardian (e.g. sometimes at the top of their page) seem to be successfully blocked on Windows but not on Lubuntu?

Indeed! And BTW our separate logins aren't just separate, they're different. And I guess even an identical login might slow down an opportunist if they were trying to quickly jump on an unattended machine in the teacher's absence?

We looked at this long ago and decided not to do it. Having separate logins for SIMS isn't a sophisticated security measure but every little helps...
