  1. Absolutely. And ta for the number! After ringing them yesterday afternoon still waiting for a call back though...
  2. And now the whole site is down again, despite what their status page says.
  3. After some experimentation it appears that SSO is now actually working. But the issue is that because we're using SSO, our new Y7 don't have passwords already set in SMHW. So when they go to use their SSO credentials, SMHW goes "ah, you're a brand new user" and asks them to set a password before it finally lets them in. Technically them having such a SMHW password (as opposed to our SSO one) is not a problem in itself (e.g. they can change it to their heart's content without affecting their "real" SSO credentials) but it's mightily confusing for them. That's why we use SSO in the first place It would be so much easier if like our users in older years, the "new user" screen is simply bypassed. I guess I could ask SMHW to pre-populate our Y7 password fields with something generic?! But that would mean their support responding, of course...
  4. I don't suppose you had a phone number by any chance?
  5. Lot of issues with this site recently including outage last night - now up, but our logins via LDAP/AD seem broken. Users get taken to a "you're almost there" (non-school specific) signup screen instead. Anyone else using LDAP/AD successfully at the moment? My mood has not been improved by the total lack of phone numbers on their site
  6. Glad to hear it - hope it's that simple for all of them
  7. DotNet OK on the workstations? Solus 3 Repository shared out OK?
  8. Solved, for anyone who's curious! It was the use of " (Shift-2) in the user's password! Totally intuitive, when you consider it
  9. Anyone else seen this error : User is an Exams Officer with all the appropriate permissions. I am too (with the same permissions) but don't get the error. Not machine specific or related to network logon.
  10. Mind you, I wouldn't say no to the Punkt MP01 - but ouch! the price...
  11. Nice little phone but after something dumber (no touch screen etc)
  12. Indeed, but reviews pretty mixed. Not really fussed about nostalgia value!
  13. After 10 years of reliable use my beloved Nokia 6300 is finally cantering into the paddock. Now that we're all flying round in personal spaceships, recommendations for a replacement? Just need calls, text, maybe a (simple) camera, and long battery life (and an OS that won't terminally baffle a long-term S40 user...). Quite a few "backup" phones out there but would like something neither flimsy nor tank-like?
  14. GDPR: who needs to hire a data protection officer?
  15. Excellent, thanks all
  16. 1. Can an ordinary workstation user (who is not a local admin) successfully use the "Check for update" button in the Solus3 Agent Notifier? 2. If a gradual network-wide deployment is in progress and that user's workstation hasn't updated yet, can they do 1 to "jump the queue"?
  17. Profile > Promotions. Obvious, really (?). Sigh...
  18. A noob question but how do you do this - can't see anywhere on the MS Educator Community site to actually enter the code?
  19. Odd issue with a Casio XJ141 - there's a black strip with white dots randomly across it, at the bottom of the projected image on the smartboard (about the size of the task bar in Windows, but above it slightly). It's effectively "in front" of the image of the computer screen, and in fact is the whole width of the board rather than the projected image. However I think it's the projector as when first started up, the strip appears higher up and out of focus before sharpening up and moving to the bottom. Ideas?
  20. An example - three anonymous participants (A, B and C) take a LimeSurvey and give answers as follows : Q1 : Favourite sweet? A : Twix B : Mars C : Aero Q2 : Favourite colour? A : Green B : Yellow C : Blue Once the survey is complete, the default view in LimeSurvey shows the participants' answers in order -i.e. it's obvious that A likes Twix and Green. Before I publish the results, I want to randomise this so that it's NOT obvious that A, who likes Twix, also likes Green. Is there a LimeSurvey feature to do this or would I have to, for example, export the results to Excel and manually mix them up there? (Note that the survey I'm designing is just to gather comments - no actual stats are needed)
  21. Just trying to use the NetSupport Notify Deploy tool to install the agent to a few machines and they all give a 7030 error in Event Viewer : "The PCI Remote Installation Server service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly." And in the tool they don't show as having the agent. Ideas?
  22. +1 for TASC Insight. Excellent support too.
  23. Yup, PITA, first thing our PP contact knew was phonecalls.
  24. I suspect it's one of those "email every school" jobs
