  1. I have a regular issue with some webpages (usually secure sites and forms that need submitting) that hang when submitting the form then go to 'page cannot be displayed'. of course it works from home and if the user logs into same win 7 PC as another user (same GPO's bring applied) it works ok. if I recreate their profile it works ok. so....as recreating their profile is annoying and destructive can I somehow reset all their IE content and settings within their own profile? tried deleting cache/cookies etc and 'reset IE' in IE settings/advanced is greyed out, probably because of a GPO. is there a fail safe 'reset everything IE related' procedure?
  2. my win2008r2 wsus server has downloaded and set to install IE10 x32 version. on WSUS all my win7 x32 clients are showing as 'not applicable' for that update - all other wsus updates install ok - the clients definitely don't have IE10 already, they are all on IE9 - I have installed the prequesities as MS article - I connect to windows update and check 'online' and it finds and wants to install IE10 fine. - I have run various scripts to make the client re-check in with the WSUS ideas please?
  3. dont change its name, just click the 'save' floppy disk icon it should be located in C:\TFTPBOOT I have this working now, it seems to work fine!
  4. cool, instant reply! do you know the implications of wanting x32 clients connecting to my x64 (2012) server? is it different? I've been using 'ghost with RIS' for years on 2003 server and fighting to get 'ghost with WDS' working, is this the answer to get it working on a modern server OS? awesome.
  5. I wonder if anyone is going to look at this after 2 years.., sometimes I have multiple (differently named) ghost sessions open at the same time waiting for clients to connect (if the room I'm imaging needs diff't images putting onto different machines for example), will this method allow the user on the f12 booted client to choose which session to connect to?
  6. ok last question! how do you get the 'resource not allowed' message to display? my mapped drive is set in group policy preferences to be hidden and it doesnt appear in my computer but they can def browse it in that way...
  7. going slightly off topic here but presumably even if the drive is hidden if they type the mapped drive letter into an explorer address bar they can browse the drive?
  8. thanks, do you not have applications on mapped drives that for example are just collections of resources and hence need to be browsed, usually from an index.html or something?
  9. thanks, how about docstorage? it disturbs me any staff member can type S: into the address bar and browse the S drive but I can't see how to stop that. S is hidden in my computer but I can't stop them browsing via this method. can't set gpo to restrict 'run' command (which would do it) but this stops software (such as Edexcel livetext) that needs to display and browse folder content working....
  10. I want to set ntfs permissions on the sims S: drive on win2008r2. don't want to go too granular. I imagine there are a number of folders that need modify (nova, exams etc) but is there any guidance on tying down the current 'staff Full control' which is how crapita left it?
  11. win2008 domain win7 clients I want to remove the run command using gpo but also allow some software (Edexcel live text for eg) to be able to open IE links to either unc paths or mapped drive paths. currently getting 'access to this resource has been disallowed' other GPOs hides the mapped drives and removes my computer icon but surely I don't want to enable windows key R from being active? is there a workaround?
