I have enabled EUR on DPM 2016 and the run the AD schema extension bit. The new AD container MS-ShareMapConfiguration (CN=MS-ShareMapConfiguration,CN=System,DC=domain,DC=com) is created but is always empty, I feel it should contain pointers to the protected shares on the DPM server and then EUR will work. Users are getting 'no previous versions available'. Otherwise backup is fine. why isn't it the AD container populating with any info? ideas? firewall set up as MS recommended and includes 6075 TCP which is apparently required. Thanks

I like foldersize but found students need write access to a folder in c program data. Not ideal really. Did you find this?

thanks, it needs to be a breakdown of sizes, like an expandable tree where they can see size of each folder. TreeSize pro is great but its really expansive every year.

does anyone use a nice, reasonably priced folder size software? Ive looked at Treesize Pro (£££) and FolderSize (requires some write access to C:), windorstat (ugly) none of which really suitable. Any more ideas? Thanks

Does anyone use companies other than Capita for SIMS support? I have been asked to investigate cost and service level comparisons. A cost saving yes, but I am concerned of another companies ability to submit patch requests or provide high level support on mission critical components - exams, finance, personnel etc. Does anyone have any good or bad things to say about 3rd parties they use? Can anyone recommend an IT supplier of general bits and pieces - hard drives, projectors, switches etc. Like us all I get a lot of phone calls from people who are 'the biggest supplier of IT in your area' or 'work with many of the schools in your area'...etc but can anyone recommend a proven supplier with prices on their website, decent response, service etc Thanks

Hello, our PE staff use Groupcall’s Emerge software to access SIMS registrations on iPads etc. It is always failing to connect, refuses to sync and they have kind of given up using it. A natural replacement would be SIMS Teacher App, does anyone use this successfully or have any experience with it? I imagine it has its own set of problems..

Shared folder fixes this, don't even need networking.

Ive enabled drag and drop windows 7 host and guest and it sometimes works but more often than not it will hang 'dropping data'. then cancelling this drop session it doesn't work again until next reboot. I am testing with tiny 10Kb files. Latest VBox installed, there are many posts on net but all about older installs. any ideas? this is key to the project being useful.

Hello, I now have a working VirtualBox VM for students to use - 2 Q's. Students will start the VM using the script below, restricting menus etc, but when I start as an admin not using the script but just from the Virtual Box GUI I was expecting it to start with all the options enabled (so I could make changes), why is it still restricted just like starting from the script? I need to provide a safe place for students to run small basic executable etc and thinking about making VM's available to them in a single IT Suite. so a few questions: VirtualBox is free but does it provide a method for: Admins to deploy a template VM Students to be able to use VMs, but not create\edit them The VM's to revert to snapshot at next reboot VM Player looks better but is £50\machine Any ideas or comments would be useful. We also have a local server for OS backups and speedy restore, but a single copy of these also go offsite for DR, although vm's it's just windows wbadmin backup. We definitely want file and folder backup, but also a sql option. I'll check out backup assist.

Hello, we want to backup our windows servers and network folders to a server which will sit in another school, can anyone recommend some software That supports file, sql, maybe windows image/system state backup. Needs to have restore options back in time for days/weeks/months. We currently use cloud company which is many 1000/yr for 5TB so some cost is exprected to get decent service and support. Thanks

I have put the serials into DEP via reseller. Purchased the Apps on Apple VPP site (even free ones) Synced Apps into Meraki Checked Apps are 'device deployable' Ticked in Meraki to use a VPP license Added the Apps to my devices in Meraki Some of the iPads install all the Apps, some a few, some none....then the next day some.....very frustrating. It must be a bug. 9.3.2.

hello, we have just registered all our iPads on DEP. All our Apps are now 'device licenses', and VPP enabled. we should not need to enter any Apple ID when installing Apps. I have added the Apps to Meraki but the iPads after being reset are being asked to enter apple ID and meraki is reporting: "Error - The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated" early days for DEP etc I know but has anyone had success with this? we have this working now but the thing is that the subst drive is labelled 'disconnected network drive', there is no way to rename it. students will need to know to click on this odd sounding drive as the import location, I'm not sure this will work......shame, it was kind of close to being OK.

Thanks, looks promising. Next problem when students log in and create a catalogue, then log in somewhere else LightRoom will not know where this catalogue is, can we force a reg key to make LightRoom always look at our subst drive L:\LightRoom?

Adobe Lightroom CC is not allowing creation of catalogues on the network, it only allows a local disk. Not very practical for a school. Has anyone got this sorted for Lightroom catalogues on network locations?

If a computer is in both the agents and targets bit of the (over-complicated) solus3 interface, what's the easiest method to force sims to install onto the same computer, same name, after imaging? I'm finding I need to remove,Then add, the computer from both targets and agents, which is many clicks and requires remote logon to the sims server compared to my simple install script of solus2 days... Can it get it be done with MDT maybe?

Has anyone know how to remove the power button from windows10 start menu? I don't want students shutting their machines down so maybe I can make this button just have a 'sign out' option? I've tried the win8 reg key that's well documented: Launcher_ShowPowerButtonOnStartScreen But it doesn't seem to work. How about the 'ease of access' button at the login screen. This could cause a whole load of support calls with machines in high contrast, magnifier etc. It needs to be available somehow but not there. Thanks
