Has anyone deployed Office 2016 for Mac and can advise on customisation, currently every user who logs on is asked to 'activate Office' using their 365 account, then there's the usual update frequency prompts. Any advice on plists or customising the app or something? Is there a standalone version I can install that doesn't rely on an office 365 account (although we do use 365)..? Thanks

I have successfully deployed a desktop background using profile manager: - create a 1920x1080 size desktop.jpg - copy that file to all the macs local disk - in profile manager in the background bit just put a path of /desktop.jpg - you may need to run a script to change the permissions on desktop.jpg to everyone Read only all this is done remotely and using ARD.

I have set a shutdown time in Profile Manager (Yosemite server) for 50 or so Yosemite clients. The Macs shutdown as expected but ONLY if someone is logged in, otherwise nothing happens. From Console at the shutdown time the following is recorded, can someone please advise? I am trying to set software settings using plists deployed through the 'custom settings' bit of profile manager Yosemite They are being applied to the Mac clients, but Profile manager seems to be putting the plists here: /Library/Managed Preferences/'username' but all the software to be configured wants them here.... /Users/'username'/Library/Preferences any ideas? thanks

I have office 365 and setup a TeamSite (https://school.sharepoint.com) with a 'Shared Documents' folder in it called 'Test' , and several word documents, PDF's etc in that. On an iPad I have installed ‘OneDrive - Cloud storage for files & photos’ (the upgrade to OneDrive for Business). The Test folder appears in 'Shared with me' on the App, but opening it hangs 'loading' and then says 'This folder is empty'. Permissions have not been edited - I can see my personal files OK. - I can see a shared folder from another user OK - Looking at the site in Word on the iPad the files are there. - Browsing to the site on the iPad in Safari and the files are there. Am I doing something wrong here? Why cant I see the contents of the TeamSite shared folder in iOS? Thanks

spc-rocket - They log into office365 outlook.office365.com, then click the OneDrive menu. It is similar to email yes but there are email recipient and group limits so you cant send a message to everyone. I am surprised that MS are encouraging the use of 365 in schools, to millions of students, and they cant put some protection in place

OK, I didn't know that. Thanks. Having to do that is disaster recovery though, if OneDrive is to come into schools MS need to address the security, a 'prevent sharing folders' or 'limit sharing to n users' is needed. I've raised a support case with MS, see what they say I suppose.

Here’s a scenario if you use OneDrive with Office365: 1. A student logs into OneDrive as someone else (or finds a computer left logged in) 2. They create a OneDrive folder called ‘F*** Off’, or something racist, or bullying related, and then share it to the EVERYONE group. 3. Every staff and student receives an email telling them the folder ‘’F*** Off’ has been shared with them. 4. The folder instantly appears in every users ‘Shared with me’ folder (there is no ‘Accept’ option, it just appears) 5. Even if the source folder is deleted it takes ‘up to 2 days’ for OneDrive to remove the folder from the ‘Shared with me’ folders Note: - You (as an admin) can’t disable sharing. - You can’t retract the emails - You can’t limit the number of share recipients. - Users can’t even remove folders that have been shared with them, they only disappear if the source folder is removed. OneDrive is potentially a great resource but surely this could be a massive problem? Is this even fit for school use? Is anyone successfully using OneDrive?

Note, you can of course set permissions in outlook but they don't get reflected in 365, do the permissions in the exchange admin part of 365 web interface. Glad helped.

Hello burgemaster, we didn't do any actual migration to 365 in the end. I created the top level root folder in 365 then after a lot of testing found the following: You can't create public folders (in the root folder) of type calendar in 365, so you do this in outlook. You can't set permissions in outlook so you do this in 365 I backed up the existing public folder contents to a pst before migration to 365 Then opened the pst in my personal email account in outlook after migration and simply copied/pasted to the new empty public folders. Does that make sense?

On startup on many of our Smart 11.4 installs the error messages pops up twice. after OK twice the software seems to run OK but it would be nice to remove this. "Smartink-SBSDKProxy has stopped working" I need smart advantage support to raise a support issue with them..

Ok, so you have the same behaviour, your email address of [email protected] is the old one. I reckon even if you change that in AD and dirsync it will not change. This is OK but we think that if someone came to school in the future needing the same (old) username it wouldn't create the account as this schoolname.onmicrosoft.com will already exist...

boredguy, can you take a look at a user who you have performed this username change on, do they have all the correct email addresses in their msonline 365 asccount. no entries for [email protected]? thanks

I've gone through the 'attributes' tab of the AD user and there is no entry anywhere for oldusername@onmicrosoft domain.

I have written my script that changes all the AD values and proxyAddress attributes. In the users AD they have several email addreess including a value of [email protected] (this is correct) run dirsync In O365 they have all the correct proxy addresses from AD but [email protected] (and no entry for [email protected] any ideas thanks?

In Exchange 2010, I have a number of public folders calendars, these show up by default in OWA 2010 and Outlook 2010. I am now moving to Office 365 and need to publish these 8 or so public calendars. From what I've found if I create a public folder in 365 it is not visible in OWA if it contains calendar items (this is by design). Then if I create a 'room resource' in Office 365 then users have to manually add it to OWA and Outlook 2010 by going to calendars\open calendar etc. Is there a way to have public calendars that are always visible (if the user have 'view' permission of course) with no user action?

if a member of staff gets married amd changes their name, in the past (exchange 2010) i deleted their AD account (which disconnected their mailbox), create a new account (without a mailbox) and then in Exchange connect the orphaned mailbox to the new user. What is the process for this in Office365, it only looks like you can connect to the same user, if they were deleted and reinstated or something. Thanks for any ideas.

we have about 5 public folders (calendars) on our exchange 2010 server that I want to move to 365. there's a crazy complicated MS method involving ps1, csv etc but can't I just do something simple in outlook or copy and paste, they are probably in total 10MB. they are also ''published as a webpage" from OWA and the link then sent to iPad owners who subscribe to the calendar, how is this supported in 365? maybe there's a better method for read only calendar viewing on iPads? thanks

do you think a dedicated dirsync (virtual) server is necessary? I do like splitting roles but then MS say it could just go on an DC...

I am just starting to test an Office365 migration from Exchange 2010 sp3. I have got some A2 licenses, an onmicrosoft.com domain and verified our school domain. I have also setup some test users within 365 but this is a bit pointless as it needs to be AD linked. Can someone please advise what I should do next, can I go ahead and set up ADFS and Dirsync on a VM, and then actually migrate a few test mailboxes from the network? Does it work like that? Has anyone any step-by-step links or can guide me on the order things need completing in. I also have a .local internal domain and a .com external. what are the implications? 'the internet' gives many differing opinions regarding certificates and the need for domain\username logon. Thanks

yes it is installed but running it gives the error. I also have installed 'Online services sign-in assistant (msoidcli_64.msi)'

Trying to run the Windows Azure AD Module for Powershell (so I can manage 365 from powershell) but getting error: Import-Module : Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Windows\system32\Wi ndowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\MSOnline\Microsoft.Online.Administration.Automatio n.PSModule.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I have .net 4.5.1 installed, .net 3.5 feature installed and Powershell 2. which is apparently all you need. Any ideas?
