How do other people deploy printers in Server 2008 r2?

Too be honest it was setup in a rush over a summer. I had to setup the server and network quickly on my own and it was the only way I could do it with a shared printer. I hadnt really thought about it since till you said. Ill look at moving them across. Cheers

I found the problem lay with some corrupt profiles which were around 1GB in size, but there was hardly anything in them. I deleted all profiles and it is fine now. Thanks for all the advice.

Hi all, We seem to be having a problem at the moment, where staff and students are logging in and the printer is not there and they have to install the printer. On other occasions mainly for the admin team we have to restart the print spooler to be able to re-install the printer. This is not happening to everybody. Printers are installed per room via GPO - User Config - Preferences - Control Panel Setting - Printers - Shared Printers. I have tried updating the drivers for the printers but this has not helped. Any advice would be appreciated. Sean

Thinking back it only seems to have happened when I have RDP'd into the server and had to do something. I have linked a monitor to it and stayed off RDP for now and it is running fine (fingers crossed).

I've done a virus scan and I am currently looking at setting up a server backup to NAS tonight.

The only thing I am seeing on HP System Management is "INTEGRATED LIGHTS-OUT NIC".

The server has raid setup i think mirrored. The server was purchased and setup by our previous sponsor. My initial thought is that it is memory or hdd issue. But just narrowing it down. when everything says its fine.

Hi all, Hope everyone is well. Over the last 6 days our file server has crashed 3 times, twice today. Everything runs fine, then it will slow down and stop responding. I have checked event viewer, anti-virus and can see nothing obvious. HP System management says everything is healthy. I have checked the warranty and it expired last month (ahhhhhhh!!!) I am currently watching resource manager. Any other ideas to look for. Cheers Sean

We have methodmaths here and to be honest it is a very poor website, we have had issues for a while. Have you tried it through Chrome? That is what our students use to access MethodMaths as it is the only browser that I have found to work with the site.

Itgeek, Right got AUPInformant working but it wants to open the AUP as a seperate file. Is there a way to include it in the body of the window rather than as a separate file? Cheers Sean

Hi all, I am currently setting up PFSense with Squid & Dansguardian and I am trying to find some guides to authenticate to AD. I have found loads that will use LDAP but I want it to be invisible authentication so would need to use NTLM. Could anyone point me in the right direction for this? Many thanks Sean

Hi, I am looking for some software that would make students accept an acceptable use policy before they logon to a PC and their name and date is logged into some sort of a database, if click decline they are not allowed to logon. I know there is something out there any help would be appreciated. Cheers
