  1. Would something like Nagios show everything on one page? Any opinions on the better systems? Free would be preferable. Cheers Sean
  2. Hi all, Friday at last!!!!!! I would like something that displays all our Toshiba printers toner levels, waste bottle level, belt life etc on one page. I have looked at some programs but none of them seem capable of doing this. I have seen a couple of people have done this on Linux using Python and a html script to call on the python program. I am just trying to learn Python to try to do this myself, but before I did I wanted to know if anybody had any other ideas? Is Python and html the best way to go? Any guides on how to do this ? As I am new to programming (though I have dabbled), I thought this could be a good project to start with. Cheers Sean
  3. Thanks mate but she doesn't think that's it. She doesn't think there was any mages, they drew power from crystals that were mined, the girl made the artefacts, people had special gifts they were chosen to create machines or artefacts to power the machines. There was a void with dark creatures and she fought alongside a young boy to defeat them.
  4. Hi all, My girlfriend is looking for a fantasy book series that she read years ago. Its about child miners who turn the mined material into 'Artefacts', magical weapons etc. A young girl is chosen to become an inventor and helps create the 'artefacts'. There's a scene with airships. There are dark creatures from other worlds trying to get through. One of the covers has a orangy moon over glass or a lake. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Sean
  5. We are in the process of creating fresh images for our PCs and I want to reduce the amount of software that we load onto it, as much of it is hardly used. But I know if I ask staff they will say that they use the software a lot, so I want recorded evidence to prove that it is not used enough. Is there any software that will track the usage of software free preferably? Cheers Sean
  6. No problem thanks for pointing me in the right direction though. All the best
  7. Thanks Dave that setup is ideally what I want. Could I be cheeky and ask for a copy of the script you use? Cheers
  8. Hi all, I have setup desktop redirect on our school PCs, I just want a couple of icons Chrome and shortcut to their user drive, but I am getting program icons popup when I allow icons onto the desktop. I have set this up through GPO and the desktops are redirected to the same place. I want the students desktops to be locked down so that they cannot add icons to it. Any help would be appreciated? Cheers Sean
  9. No we aren't getting any DNS errors at all.
  10. We have about the same number of devices, but ours so much more.
  11. Hi all, We are having trouble with one of our servers in that it randomly crashes. There are no event logs to speak of but I have noticed as from the image that DNS seems quite hungry using around 470MB. The picture above is after the server has been restarted after a crash. The resource manager from the secondary DNS is using around 87MB. Image below. Am I right in thinking it is using a lot of RAM? Cheers
  12. We have just had a Aruba Managed wireless network installed and have 30 net books for use on it. What is the best way to set up the wireless? I'm reading a lot about Radius servers and certificates is this the best way? Or through GPO? Cheers Sean
  13. Hi, We've got a Sony VPL-SX125 short throw projector that I am mounting in a classroom, but when I enter the menu to zoom it say "Can not adjust this item". Really helpful for a projector. Any ideas? Cheers Sean
  14. Does anyone know of a good amplifier and mixer for our assembly hall? At the moment we have a Australian Monitor MX61 AND Skytec AMP-2000 but they are giving up the ghost and I am looking for replacements? Cheers Sean
  15. Hi all, I am setting up a staff proxy server with Endian Community Firewall, so that they can use the staffproxy.swgfl.org.uk route but without having to type in a username and password. I have created a generic username and password, for them to access the internet but they would still be authenticated locally on the endian box via AD. I enter the details in the upstream proxy part of endian with the proxy name, port and username and password. But whenever I try it out I keep getting a 'ICAP PROTOCOL ERROR'. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Thanks
  16. Hi all, I am playing with Endian and I want to set it up in bridged mode example LAN -> Endian -> Router but whenever I try to set it up the Outgoing Interface (Red - WAN) is greyed out and i can't select it. I enter the default gateway but can't go any further, as it says i need to select a outgoing Red interface but it wont let me. Basically I want Endian to act as an internal firewall, antivirus, proxy, filter and cache for all incoming and outgoing data. Am I doing this right? Am i missing something? I have tried Untangle (which is still running but doesnt do filtering or caching unless you pay), ClearOs (didnt get on with), Smoothwall Express (didnt like). Endian seems brilliant if i can just get this sorted. Cheers
  17. Hi, Is there a way to stop users logging on to multiple PCs, through a GPO or a utility? We are running Windows 2008 R2 domains. Cheers
  18. Thanks, would the bridge mode be the recommended method for this setup?
  19. Hi all, I am currently setting up Untangle to use as a firewall. I am probably being really simple but as I will be using it between the internal switch and router I would set it up as a transparent bridge is this correct? Also would I give both the internal and external interfaces internal IP addresses or, just the internal and the external would get a 192.168 IP? Sorry if these seem like daft questions. Cheers
  20. Hi all, We are quite a small secondary school, around 330 students, but have a capacity for 450 and we are looking for Wireless system. The plan is to have 30 laptops, eventually going up to 90 for the students (30 in each block). The teachers all have laptops around 45, plus 6 iPads and 26 android tablets. We don't allow BYOD but might be something we allow later. We would need guest access as well. We dont have any RADIUS servers. There is a fair distance between each building, and teachers tend to move from building without switching off their laptops. I have looked at Ubiquiti which I have a fair bit of experience with I think they are brilliant, but I have looked at Ruckus as well. Which would be recommended? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Sean
  21. Anyone else being taken to a "No result found...." page when they click on the download patch here link?
  22. Hi all, Had to put this on the back burner, but trying to get it working again. I can create posts but they are not showing up on the relevant page. When I go to view all messages in database in shows the expires after date as: 0000-00-15 it shows the day I choose but everything is zeros I think this is why I am having issues, but cant figure out how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Sean
  23. Hi all, I am looking for a company that will bulk pick up our Toshiba Printer consumables (toner, drums, fusers etc) as we have a load of used/empties that I need to get rid of. Toshiba are really awkward about picking them up. They will only send a small box and charge £20 a time. I don't mind paying as long as I can get rid of the lot in one go. Cheers Sean
  24. How do I do delete all printers at the start using Print Management? As I am still getting the printers following students. Cheers
  25. I have setup the printers per machine but getting the old issue of printers following people around. So if they print in room A then go to room B to print the room A printer will show up. Any help? Also what do you use the item level targeting on this for?
