Is buying a video conferencing set up worth it these days? We are looking to purchase a kit and I am wondering if an alternative like a decent camera and Skype is worth it these days. I know for certain services like museums etc you need VC and I am going to determine exactly what it is going to be used for but it is just nagging in the back of my mind about this technology going the way of the Dodo. What are peoples opinions on this?

We have been reviewing our AUP and we need to put in a paragraph or so about the storage of personal photos and personal media etc, not being allowed on the school network. I am talking about kids dumping the contents of their phones into their area etc. Does anyone have anything like this that is clear and thorough I can steal? Thanks ChrisH

That is what you need to do ^^

That all depends on yourself. If you have some experience and can discipline yourself to go through the material and set up all the the labs etc then self study is easy enough. If you are going to struggle putting in the 1 hour + of study per day after work, then you need a course but that is going to cost you. I use the following for study: MS Press book or equivalent for the exam Mark Minasi books All free resources and videos via Technet and other sites Some kind of exam prep software. You usually get a cut down version with the books. You need to practice the exam technique as you need to get used to the way they ask questions. For example you get presented with a scenario and you know what the best answer if but it's not there, you have to pick the best answer they have given you. There will be plenty of questions where one word in the question can change the answer as well. You have to read very carefully.

Do yourself a favour, look at MDT to make your life easier for making automated deployments etc.

I am looking at purchasing QNAP TS-410 for home for mass storage, backup and running VMs for my test lab. The only problem is I can't decide which HDs I need for them. Everyone I look at seems to have some sort of problem or another, whether it's the WD green disks head issues to the overheating samsungs. I am looking to run 1 or 2 TB disks in a RAID 5 array so if anyone has a QNAP running and has not filled it with enterprise disks can you please tell me what you have and if they are okay. I messed with the ini file but decided on this in the end. Everything else is blocked anyway as this is an exception.

I have got mine working for students now for the free version. Even if you install to Program files every user needs a copy of the files that get put into the users appdata\gamemaker folder else it will just run in update mode. So now I will have to create a logon script just for that room to copy in the files on logon. I tried altering the installer but it didn't like the changes I made. I was starting to think some of our software restriction policies were affecting it but I ruled that out with a clean user. If anyone is using using Gamemaker and has SRPs to to them launching EXEs from zip files etc in the temp directory you can enable quick compile to work by unrestricting the following path: %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\gm_ttt*

I only found it by accident, unfortunately it doesn't fix my issue as we are running free. It installs okay into program files but it wont run without a license and therefore will not run for me and the update doesn't seem to work even if you install it into program files. Just searching for some kind of registry entry now.

Have you tried the one mentioned here: GM81 Education - YoYoGames Wiki It works by the look of it but you need to use the other application to license it. I was looking to run the free version but this version only works if you license it grrrr!!!!! Running the 8.1 update on our current 8.0 install only seems to work for the account that it was installed with very annoying.

Try nslookup on both OS and see if it doing anything different. Maybe windows 7 is more picky. Have you setup a zone for webjohnsmith.com and made www a cname or an A record for that IP or have you just done the whole thing as an A record?

You would have to run something like wire shark and filter for DHCP messages such as offer and acceptance of DHCP leases or in my case in the past an old dhcp server on a Censornet box would be active with no scope and the clients would always find it first. After it refused to give an IP address multiple time the clients finally found the windows DHCP server. I would just do a port mirror on your switch of the client you are trying to boot up or run it from your workstation and check general traffic on the network for it. If you do the port mirror you can see exactly what the client is/isn't receiving.

Is there a rogue DHCP server affecting it? The clients maybe ok but a PXE boot might be a little more sensitive to such things.

It probably wont work as the server will want the 64 bit drivers as the standard driver and the current 32 bit as the alternates.

I would say a script reading the information from a file especially in the case of the ports in a loop. Adding the printers will be more complicated, sorry I don't have any examples.

I have the same issue at the moment, I just haven't got round to the 2008 file server but will in summer as this problem is only effecting the one laptop user.

It tries to copy first then switches to backup mode.

For Windows 7 I just made a copy of the simsperm script and then did a search and replace on program files to program files (x86) seems to work fine. This is assuming your Windows 7 folders are installing into the x86 folder.

You won't find any free ones. What's wrong with ADMT?
