Correct, this is pretty huge. To be honest this whole keynote was pretty huge.
-
Getting the same, they still have links to it from windows.com so this isn't intentional.

Recent one, jumping out of a helicopter as the pilot in GTA V only to be immediately killed by the rotor blades of said helicopter because my character decided to jump up out of the pilot seat rather than falling out of it and the helicopter had started to fall as soon as I jumped.

I think it was more the neighbours logging complaints and issues with the planning than the councils response. She may even have gotten the go ahead if the neighbours had no issues. So she's doing it to annoy the neighbours than protesting against the council, who obviously got the decision right if the neighbours had raised issues with them.

Actually he probably isn't, Superbase for windows was built on the 16bit Api, it simply wont run on 64bit versions of Windows. It's not really a standalone application either, Superbase is a database, so his application is closer to an Access database with forms, macros etc. atleast that is my understanding. So for it to be rewritten to 32bit/64bit would require a lot of work as you would likely need to use a different database to power the application, and it would need to be written in a different language. So ultimately it is a huge job, but the price isn't realistic.

Actually change it back, to 1, I need to do more research, the GPO may not have been doing anything and could have been created for no reason. Edit: My DCs and PC has it set to 2, which is this - "2 - Set 8dot3 name creation on a per volume basis" I don't know how you want to proceed. He shouldn't have changed it in the first place, the file system is not something you want to be screwing with.
-
Actually, more research first!
-
Well, I would disable that GPO for the time being as it's the only thing that appears to have changed. It may be causing unexpected results.

That is a ludicrous amount, it would be cheaper to buy Visual Studio, do a course yourself and then rewrite it, or to bring a programmer into the company to develop the software from scratch. Definitely ignore that price and have a look yourself
-
To be honest, you really need to push for it to be rewritten, anything you do now is simply putting off the inevitable. For now I second XP mode as there is no cost involved but your company should budget for the rewrite in the next year or two in my view.

I've done exactly the same, me and my friends are thinking of setting up a Panto racing league because they are incredibly funny to drive.

No, it's just a news article:

But that's not a unified store/universal app, you target Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 RT or Windows Phone 8.1. You can't do cross platform app development without having to rebuild and redesign your app. Where as with Windows 10 you can, in theory, build and design a single app which will work across every windows device. You will be able to target the largest user base and largest number of device platforms of any OS developer in the world, something that should definitely get developers on board.
-
With the app store unification in Windows 10 though, if you want to make an app for Windows you can target every device at the same time, I see that as a massive plus from a software development point of view, you cut development time dramatically by only having to make one app. It should make the windows platform much more desirable.

Since the Apple Watch itself costs a minimum £300, and it requires at least an iPhone 5, I can't see myself ever buying one, the cost is huge simply to save a few seconds getting my phone out of my pocket.

Office 365- how are you using it for teaching and learning
JRowley replied to Liam's topic in Cloud Services
We are also experimenting with teacher dashboard and Office 365 currently, looks good so far though we aren't using it on a wide scale yet. -
It's just been increasingly irritating this last 5 years because the majority of responses DC gave in PMQs was "we're just fixing what they broke" rather than answering the actual question with an actual answer.
-
That also irritates me, the Labour gov was not responsible for global recession, pinning the state of the country and the economy on the party in power during that time period is a pathetic tactic. It's been used as an excuse for the last 5 years for pretty much everything the Torys have failed on.

My expectation would be that in the final or two month before release they will produce a release client and let people play with that, that release client will be an amalgamation of all the fixes they have developed during the beta period and be a lot closer to the finished product than what some of us are struggling with currently.
-
Well yeah of course, I'm just saying that what you are experiencing isn't representative of the final product, this is more or less a true beta not the preview builds they have released previously.
-
True, but that was a very different approach to development, they had very few changes to make to the design and feature set so you were being pushed effectively release clients/preview builds.
-
Beta builds aren't the same as release clients though, they are supposed to be rough and ready so they can throw features into it and get feedback quickly, then refine the code in the release client. I find it's pretty rare that you see the results of those refinements put back into the beta.

The problems I've listed are to my knowledge all extremely common, my game on a HDD loads quicker than my friends on a new SSD, so there is clearly some issue with it loading into GTA Online and spectating. Out of the 6 people I play with we all suffer this problem on a wide variety of hardware. There is also a known memory leak which drops performance after 3 - 4 hours of game play, though that doesn't seem related to this issue. In general based on my experience I would say that the port was at best acceptable given the number of issues with GTA Online. It can't be described as a good port because the issues with GTA Online make it impossible to play with your friends at times. The other day one of our mates couldn't get into our session and we couldn't join his, but he could join random sessions. But we simply couldn't get to him, so in the end he spent an hour and a half rebooting, restarting and verifying the game data and finally he just gave up. And lets not forget the fact that anyone who didn't have a basic windows username consisting of letters and numbers couldn't even run the game for the first few days. It might become a good port when they have patched it a few times, but so far they have been more concerned with fixing issues with the editor than anything else.

There are many many problems with GTA V on pc: A friend of mine crashes if he tries to shoot out of a car and when he changes sessions. Changing game sessions in general is extremely unreliable, at times you simply can't change sessions. Loading into GTA Online takes an unbelievable amount of time, it's actually quicker on my 360. The loading times when spectating players are a joke, in some cases if you finish first in a big race you never get a chance to spectate because the player you would have been spectating has finished before it's loaded his view, so it tries to load the next player who then finishes etc. etc. So you just end up watching a black screen for the next 5 minutes. The keyboard and mouse controls for flying are phenomenally bad, thankfully I have an Xbox One controller to use. I'm not sure exactly what took them so long to release the game as graphically it isn't actually that big an improvement over the Xbox One/PS4 release, beyond the fact it can run at 1080p/60, the draw distance has been increased a bit and there is a new lighting engine which is nice. But other than that? Just some of my complaints really, a bit of a disappointment given all the hype over the PC version. Don't get me wrong when the game works its fun and I enjoy it, but it definitely fell short of my expectations.

We did it ourselves.
