In the grand scheme of things being able to make HAL independent images straight out of the box was one of the best features of both Vista and 7. That coupled with driver injection in WDS for 2008 R2 has saved us hundreds, if not thousands, of man hours. You have to run FOGPrep prior to Sysprep for FOG to work with Windows 7 images. Whatever FOGPrep does may help you.

I'm very happy with the Casios we've had. The A130s have the obvious edge in flexibility due to their ridiculously huge zoom, but I do prefer the new M130s. The standard AV ports and quieter operation of the Ms, I imagine due to the larger chassis and fans, edge it for me, even though you haven't got as much to play with in terms of throw range. Has anyone got any of the short throw version? I'd be interested to hear thoughts on those.

It doesn't know. It uses the default settings, which normally work unless there's something in the way e.g. the smartcache. Your fixed network machines would not work through the proxy if they weren't getting the correct browser settings pushed to them via GPO. If they didn't have that GPO they'd be trying to go out to the internet via their default gateway on port 80 for web browsing the way your home machine does with a basic home router. As there's no path to the internet on port 80 behind the smartcache you'd end up with no internet browsing on those machines. It sounds like you would want a transparent proxy to work with devices that aren't specifically configured. Authenticating with the transparent proxy would be all that's required. How that would, or if it could, fit in with your current arrangements though I couldn't say as I've not seen an RM Smartcache. Technically though, I don't believe it's impossible but I'll leave a more detailed answer to someone more familiar with that particular kit.

They just have servers that transcode the videos at the backend before sending it to the iPad as HTML 5. You might want to trade those iPads in for Blackberry Playbooks if Flash on the device is crucial ( BlackBerry PlayBook - Flash (:30) - YouTube ), otherwise as has been said you need to connect to something in the backend e.g. Terminal Server or a Citrix App server streaming Internet Explorer to the iPad etc.

I don't know about doing it via by the MSI but it can be done with a config file. Create mms.cfg in windows\system32\macromed\flash\ containing the line AutoUpdateDisable=1

Is this is the 701 or Surf 4G? If so I made the recovery USB stick from the CD/DVD in Windows and recovered the system from a USB stick. You could give that a go rather than trying to boot directly from a USB DVD.

This works for 7 but YMMV with XP. Open up Sound Manager from the Realtek systray icon. (Make sure you've got a mic plugged in) Device advance settings at the top of the right hand column. In the Recording Device settings part of advanced settings choose "Separate all input jacks...." - OK this. Go to the Mic in tab (which now probably says "Mic in at front panel (black)" rather than just "Microphone." Set your recording and playback volume and Mic Boost if you need it. We also tick "Noise Suppression" OK the Realtek HD Audio Manager to close it. Remove the registry key starting up the Realtek software. It's probably HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\RtHDVCpl Restart the PC and when you unplug and plug in a mic it should have your previous settings held and stops prompting "What have you just plugged in?" when you stick a microphone in. If that works for you it'd be worth finding the affected registry keys and their values to make it easier when changing a room full with just a registry patch. If you get there before I do let me know please.

So if you can create a file in the folder with teacherA and teacherB can only read it and not modify it then that could be your culprit.

If you want vendor agnostic then I'd echo looking at the A+ and Network+. Cisco do have entry level qualifications below CCNA like the CCENT.

The board not seeing the wireless receiver can definitely be a firmware issue. I've had old 680 boards (4 years+) that wouldn't see the bluetooth kit without a newer firmware. Before hooking up the USB to do a firmware upgrade unscrew and remove the bluetooth kit from the back of the board. I hope that helps.

The R2 version of 70-646 keeps getting pushed back and is now due out in August. It is possible to do the exams with the original material and the ebook (+ labbing and working on R2 obviously) as it's how I had to do it, but if they'd feel more comfortable with the whole R2 kit and kaboodle it's out now. The exam will definitely feature R2 questions in some shape or form.

Cisco items - Get great deals on Cisco lab, CCNA items on eBay Stores! sell everything you could want for a home lab. It will start getting expensive fairly quickly though as you'll probably want at least 2 routers and 2 switches, so you'll be looking at the thicker end of £200 at a minimum once you've added in cables and everything. Also if you haven't got a rack in an isolated area it gets noisy as well. If you just want one device to get actual hands on you're looking at ~£50. The very cheap switches may not have all the features you need to practice with so 2950s would probably be as low spec wise as you'd want to go. If Packet Tracer is on one of the CDs that came with the book then I'd certainly be using that to begin with. Edit: Actually you may have to get one of the official Cisco Academy books to get hold of Packet Tracer on CD http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1587132087 as technically it's only available to Cisco Academy students.

Microsoft changed the wording on their skills measured pages for the Server 2008 exams, which apparently is all they have to do! I don't remember them making it widely know apart from on their own certification forums. They changed them way back last autumn, but the new official second edition R2 training books have only just come out. I sat the 70-642 just after Christmas and it was R2 based, but I'd known it would be going in.

STP link selection is based on link cost (cumulative cost if there are multiple links) to the root bridge (switch). Port priority only comes into play with equal cost links. However, if all of the STP bridges (each switch) are running at the default bridge priority of 32768 then it's based on MAC address. You may find an unusual switch is the Root Bridge for the entire network. As an example our core switch runs at the lowest STP bridge priority so it becomes the root bridge, the secondary core switch runs at the second lowest, and then all access layer run at the default value. So all of the STP calculations in our network are based on the link cost of getting from the remote switch to the Root Bridge. As the secondary core is also lower than the default priority if either of the cores go down we don't find ourselves with a little access switch finding itself as the root bridge. So in your example if you have your two 10gb aggregated as a 20gb link and your two 1gb aggregated as a 2gb spanning tree would use the 20gb link as it's the lowest cost and it would hold the 2gb link down as a redundant link.

Are you trying to change a dword value on a shellfolder? If so then yes it's a permission on the registry key. By default you haven't got full control permissions on the key. I changed the permissions and the value before making the image. When you do change it you need to reboot before the change is apparent.

With Cisco ACLs the Deny Any last line is automatic (or "implied" as they call it in their reference texts). If you create an ACL without a single permit statement it will deny all traffic.
