Maybe they misunderstood the context. The accreditation of certified practitioners isn't a credit transfer. For one thing you have to pay a fee to get them to verifiy your certification. With a credit transfer you send in the transcript from your old university and ask them to carry the points forward which is (or certainly was) free. You also can't take the accreditation straight away. You have to have done a qualifying OU module first, with the one you take depending on the certification you want accredited.

They do a similar thing with the CCNA (60 points @ Level 2). You study Cisco's material but do OU set assignments. You'll be doing the work for two of the Server 2008 MCTS exams 70-640 and 70-642. Considering how much Microsoft charge for their e-learning courses it's an absolute bargain. Whether or not Microsoft's e-learning courses are good value to begin with is an entirely different matter. The 70-640 e-learning course is £326 and 70-642 is £232 direct from Microsoft. I did T216 with the OU and think it's a great way of going about things. If you're after industry certification and degree points at the same time they're a good way of going about it.

Yes, I run one in VMWare Player for messing around with. Just choose Other->FreeBSD as the OS when you install it. I've only ever used it with USB drives so don't know how you would present hard drives in the PC to FreeNAS, except by creating virtual hard drives first.

Whiteboard steps work well for us. Something like: Whiteboard Double Step from Go Education, the AV & IT specialists. The board can go at a reasonable height for the adult, but is still accessible with the steps for the children.

I've got an ML115 at home. It does Raid 1+0 (I've got 4 x 500 gig drives as a ~1TB striped, mirrored volume). I initially wanted to run it in Raid 5 but found the performance in Windows quite painful. 1+0 performs perfectly well for me.

Have you tried turning off bidirectional support on the port tab? I had the half page/partially printed bottom rows issue with network connected K5400s until doing that.
