Bloody love it. Still feel bad about the silly amount of money, because today was pay day so I had to pay off the CC, but the phone itself is really lovely and much more polished an experience than I expected. Battery life is still a bit hit & miss on CM12S, and there's a really annoying bug with BBC videos (News, Sport or iPlayer) where they blur as soon as the overlay disappears, almost like the lock screen blur, but I'm not the only one to be suffering that so hopefully it will get fixed.

Are you on Lollipop yet, to get the brightness slider in the notifications tray? That's very handy for adjustments. You can tell it whether or not to adjust to light levels in the Display settings. If you're still on CM11S, the Display settings have somewhere you can adjust the screen brightness at various light levels, so you can boost it if you like. Full brightness tends to do weird things to colours and contrast because it's so bright, and the adaptive brightness occasionally goes mad and dims the screen for no reason at all, which is annoying when you're watching a video.

Last I checked, Labour had no influence with the US sub-prime mortgage lenders that caused the global recession, they just had the misfortune to be in power at that time. The converse claim is that the Tories have now fixed the recession, when they're just benefitting from the natural recovery -- a recovery that has, nonetheless, been the slowest in post-war Britain, and has failed to meet their 2010 promise of clearing the deficit in this Parliament. I'm not siding with Labour here, either -- but it's a gross oversimplification and a dishonesty to pretend that anyone could have prevented a recession that was caused by global issues. It's treating me like an idiot to think I can't see through it.

Conversely, I think Boris is very, very clever, and he's realised that the people don't want an incisive, intelligent figure of authority to lead them, they just want a buffoon to entertain and distract them. He is a very capable debater, written* and spoken, and plays up the fool to disarm opponents and leave them underestimating him. He's also the man who wanted to overturn 1500 years of legal theory and a basic principle of human rights by making a "swift and minor change" (his words) to British law by overturning the presumption of innocence, instead assuming that people travelling to Iraq or Syria were guilty until proven innocent. He's terrifying. *EDIT: @zag provides the written example I was thinking of above. I don't agree with him, but it's masterfully done.

Ah, I hold my phone in my right hand and use my right thumb to swipe, so the speed of swiping is much better than the one-digit hunt-and-peck of using the onscreen keyboard, which I hate and find horribly inaccurate. I also can't stand autocorrect as I type so many non-dictionary words, and I'd rather slow down my swipe a bit to ensure accuracy than have to keep interrupting my momentum to go back and alter a word to what it should be. Different swipes for different types I suppose I could use my left hand to type, but then I'd end up weeing all over the floor.

SwiftKey is free now, though I prefer Swype (which isn't free), but either of them are better than stock. And personally I love swipe-to-type though my absolute preference would be a slide out physical keyboard, still. On a 5"+ high-spec phone if possible, please. A man can dream...

I'd not considered it that way before, particularly the final point. I am convinced by your logic.

There's two ways of looking at prison time. One: it's a punishment enacted by society. Civilised revenge on behalf of the wronged. Sentence length is (theoretically) proportional to the severity of the crime. The hope is that people feel suitably punished that they do not re-offend, and those who have not yet offended are dissuaded by the threat of the punishment. Two: it is time away from society to allow the offender to be rehabilitated and eventually reintegrated. Sentence length is related to how long the rehabilitation should take, which may well be related to the severity of the crime - that is, an urge to murder will likely take longer to "fix" than the urge to shoplift. In the first case, you could take away the vote as part of the punishment. In the second, you might take it away if you judge the person unfit to vote - that is, if they can't meaningly take part in society on a day to day basis, how can we expect them to take part democratically on the big picture basis? The US is unabashedly the former system, where the Nordic countries are the latter. In the UK, I fear we're neither here nor there, and thus our prison system serves neither purpose - people aren't adequately punished, nor rehabilitated in any meaningful way. This may be why our re-offence rates are higher (certainly than the Nordic countries, not sure on stats vs. America).

Thanks We've been using that mapped drive/internal server set up for a couple of years now and it still works like a charm for us. Easy not only for the students (save it here, go to this URL) but also for the teacher to mark, as he has the root of all their folders mapped instead, so he can easily browse through their code.

I much prefer to clean up server disk space manually so I know what's happening, I'd never trust an automated tool on a server. cleanmgr is my first port of call (once you've added it in -- step 2 of this guide), and here's a list of other locations worth emptying (especially log files): https://help.maximumasp.com/KB/a494/my-server-says-low-space-on-c-drive.aspx EDIT: I've just realised that reads as "I never use a tool, the first thing I do is use this tool", so thought I'd clarify that cleanmgr is the built in Windows tool and behaves itself very nicely.

It's not anything to do with Styles, is it? Maybe try updating the Normal style to use the new font, instead of just changing the font.
