I am utterly against the BNP and everything they stand for, but it is their right and freedom to stand for it. The measure of our society isn't that we try to shut them down; it's that we let them spout their nonsense and agree, en masse, that they're insane and shouldn't be listened to. I thought it had an anti-woman streak to it as well - "I've met women like her before", "Scots tart", "trowels on the lipstick"... "Fat oik" isn't a gender-specific complaint, the same as "liar and thief" levelled at Sturgeon isn't gender specific. I don't think the people necessarily voted for the Tories, not any more than normal - their share of the vote this time was 36.9%, in 2010 it was 36.4%. The SNP taking Scotland hasn't given us Tory power either; the Tories would have a majority whether Labour had those Scottish seats or not. Labour and Tories traded seats in England; I think Labour were up 1 seat once the dust was settled. I think it was lost to the Tories by the Lib-Dems - their vote vanished, Labour failed to capture it, and Tory candidates who had been 2nd to LD last time out suddenly found themselves with no competition. We didn't vote for Tory, we just didn't really vote for anyone else in particular. Almost a victory by default.

I would get the GPU now, which will give you some good gains straight off the bat (even on PCI-E 1.0), and get a new CPU/mobo/RAM when Intel's new Skylake CPUs launch towards the end of this year. That platform will be DDR4 and have full native support for NVMe SSDs, so is more future proof. The CPU performance won't have increased much beyond the current gen, so if you do go for CPU now you'll not be missing anything there, but the new Z170 motherboards will be better. A 970 for £240 is an excellent move to make, and right now you'll get the Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight bundled with it.

This made me chuckle: Quite sad to see Dan Jarvis rule himself out of the Labour leadership race, he sounds like he's in politics for all the right reasons. I think Andy Burnham may be too far left to win elections and Chuka Umunna seems a bit too Tory-in-Labour clothing from what I've seen. I need to do some more reading up, though. Conversely, Boston used to be an absolute nightmare with traffic lights on the roundabouts at either end of John Adams way; since they took them out a few years back its improved vastly. It takes a special kind of thinking to install a device meant to stop traffic (lights) on a road design meant to allow traffic to flow (roundabouts).

I think this is what it comes down to -- I challenge anyone amongst us, even those of us curling up with disappointment this morning, to call Ed Milliband "inspiring" and maintain a straight face. It's never felt like Labour really sat down and looked at themselves after last time, never did the hard work they needed to do to rebuild properly. Hopefully they do so this time, but I don't know who they can pick to do that job. All of the names being mentioned (apart from Yvette Cooper) are almost anonymous to me, which isn't a good sign.

You may be within the law to speed up like that whilst being overtaken; however, the practical effect is that you're increasing the risk of a collision for nothing more than a small sense of satisfaction and a salve for your ego. Idiots At The Wheel are going to continue to be idiots regardless of any action you take. They're not going to have a sudden revelation as a result of your actions. If you've been driving at a constant speed and suddenly increase it at an unexpected moment like that, you're driving unpredictably, and that's possibly the most dangerous thing to do. If someone's tailgating me, I'll usually pull over as left as I can and do all I can to encourage them to overtake, because I'd rather just have them out of the way.

Amen. I thoroughly expect Cameron & Osbourne to continue to blame all ills on the previous Labour administration far beyond the point of reason I only half-jest - apparently Cameron is still carrying round the bit of paper from 5 years ago, saying "There's no money left".

Admittedly this is coming on the back of three or four years of almost nil respect for the man, after voting for his party in 2010, but I don't think I've ever had more respect for Clegg than after that speech: I suppose we'll find out now just how much the Lib Dems did manage to rein in the Tories, or if it was all bluster. 5 years of nastiness might be the only saving grace for the LDs, so they can stand and say "I told you so".

Only because of the stability inherent in having a clear result; they'd dropped due to the predictions of hung & minority parliaments. They'd have done the same if it'd been a Lab majority, I expect.

Talking with my missus and daughter last night, after voting, and my wife accused me of finding fault with Nigel Farage on every matter because of my personal dislike of him. My daugher then said "I thought you were going to say the Fault in Farage's Stars", and thus was Photoshop fired up.

I agree with the idea that right lane is only there if your turn off is past twelve o' clock, unless otherwise directed. The two bad habits that annoy me: * Using the right hand lane to try and overtake me on the roundabout when we're both going straight on. Usually happens to me at Partney Pumps. * Being more important than everyone sat patiently in the left lane and flying up the right hand lane, only to go round the roundabout 1¼ times so you can go left. Just slows everything down massively because everyone has to wait for you, the special bloody snowflake, to go round before they can enter the roundabout.
