Hi yes its CPU. Edge smashing CPU. Im sure a bit of tweaking with vmware will sort it.

Currently 80gb ram and 8vcpu. It's load balanced so really only 20 per server. It's literally edge that brings it to it's knees. Done all of the obvious. Ending disconnected sessions etc etc. Storage could be the issue. I'll have to check that.

Hi all - Im pulling what little hair i have left out over RDP performance issues. A little background. We have 40 thin clients (old laptops) repurposed using no touch os. I have configured 2 servers on vmware as hosts. Both A decent spec. We use sophos central as our endpoint on the servers. No matter what i do it seems that as soon as users start to use edge it kills the server. Im just looking for some best practice here. Surely others have had similar experiences. Thanks in anticipation. Liam

I don't require POE just network access.

Hi, I have a PTMP setup but can't for the life of me get a vlan to pass through LAN 2 for a camera. I have multiple vlans over the wireless connection and this works if I add a switch to the station dish with all vlan traffic passing as it should. Surely I should be able to use LAN 2? I Don't need POE just network traffic. Spent most of the day trying to figure it out. Argh.. Thanks

We use live events. You need a difference license though. Works really well. We use it for whole school assemblies still. We have a standard webcam in the heads office or other presenters use their laptops.

I agree with this.., I have automated every other process with 2fa and then this code system is really grating on me. Why do it for staff and not students?? Makes no sense!

Hi, has anyone managed to get Radius working consistently with Aruba? I have configured the virtual controller, added the radius server .. It works o until i plug another AP in then nothing with connect. I have confirmed dynamic Radius is enabled too. I am missing something evidently. Any help would be brilliant.

Cabling options for desks in middle of rooms

We also have a power pole. It also means its more flexible if those at the top change their mind.. And they will. Haha -
We got quite a number back. But.. They are soooo poor in school as they are just really poor devices. I understand that they are owned by us now.. But its a lot of money to keep them going and then the maintenance of them too. Thanks

What Are people doing with the dfe laptops? We are getting them back in skme states? I believe they fall under our asset register now, would that be true? I wonder if we could write them off and just give them to the children. Surely that way then they become their responsibility in terms of filtering etc. If we don't own them anymore? Correct me if I'm wrong. Cheers. Liam

Are you nesting groups inside groups?? This is common if so. -

Sorry we already use jamf as a device mananagement tool. It's just soooo slow and I don't know why... Tried everything. The macs are reasonably new. Network and servers all brand new. So it's something to do with profile creation... Hopefully it's just a tick in a box [emoji6]

Reaching out to find out the best practices used in education in a shared lab with Active Directory binding. All user accounts are in Active Directory and use these credentials to login to the iMac. No mobile account is created at login and simply treated as a network account. When a student logs into the computer for the first time, it takes roughly 2minutes to get to a point where everything as loaded. We use Sophos, Office 365 Apps, Teams, Mounting network drives at login. All apps seem to be sluggish when first opening an app etc. I'm interested to know how others are setup? Is creating Mobile Accounts a better way to go? I remember testing this but had issues with KeyChain which kept giving me errors. Majority of the time the student users the same computer every lesson which dramatically makes a difference and login is seamless. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi, we're looking at the possibility of some VR for our Mat. My worry is that it becomes one of those purchases that comes out at any showcase events and gathers dust for the rest of the year. I know some schools have them, so what are your experiences. Any advice you can give us? Suppliers etc and how it's benefitted the curriculum. Thanks as always Liam

iMacs running Big Sur. At the minute we are experiencing AD login times of roughly around 1 minute 30 seconds when a user logs into the workstation for the first time. This is with the following settings; Mobile account is created at login Use UNC path from Active Directory to derive network home location – CHECKED Allow authentication from any domain in the forest – CHECKED. Forcing a timeout delay i.e sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow DSBindTimeout -int 15 Problems with this is Keychain consistently prompting user to ‘Reset to defaults’ Tested without creating a mobile account and logins hang! Doesn’t log user in. Can anyone recommend any diagnostics to why AD logins are so slow? Liam
