  1. We have all the models you've listed with Sophos on them. Never seen this problem before. What BIOS version are you running?
  2. A picture release is required if you are on a commercial shoot for some type of publication. Typically in the form of a written contract. Anybody can take pictures of anybody else from a public place, voyeurism and invasion of privacy being separate issues from the act of taking the picture itself.
  3. I use the following in a .bat, one line for each computer, running as a scheduled task: start shutdown -s -t 300 -m \\computername -f I found that on one site it worked fine, on another I had to modify a group policy to allow admins to log on as a batch job as my predecessor had fiddled the default domain policy.
  4. Should be able to change the output of the sub to suit your taste using a crossover which may or may not be built into the amp. A couple of years back, Alpine and Clarion used to be a safe bet for head units. KEF made the best in car speakers I've heard, but not sure if they are still in the market any more. Infinity and JBL are a safe bet, though I would personally avoid chucking anything on a rear parcel shelf as it's a dead give away and open invite for some git to break in... Wouldn't skimp on the wiring, it can make more difference than the choice of head unit or speakers!
  5. Could do but it would have to be lowered to such a point that it would be more of an annoyance than the seniors fiddling with the login box!
  6. Only issue I've come across is that Sandisk Enterprise USB sticks stop working when upgrading from SP2 to SP3 unless you plug the thing in, log into it, and leave it in the USB slot while the upgrade process runs.
  7. They're normally already in there before it has a chance to kick in...
  8. A minor point, but I don't suppose anybody knows of a way to prevent the XP login box from being dragged around the screen? Our seniors have an irritating habit of hiding it away into the corner which causes unnecessary fuss for the primary classes that follow
  9. SAVCE8 must be at least 2 to 3 years old. Your licensing should have allowed you to upgrade. We were on 10.2 at least 18 months ago. 10.2 supports Vista, but runs like a dog... a lame one... Now using Sophos which doesn't make things grind to a halt
  10. Last time I checked Addonics (Addonics Technologies - Making Data Storage Simple) did some. UK retailers: Addonics On-Line Store Addonics storage products | buy Addonics online You'll have to check the individual specs to make sure. Probably won't show as a removable device in the same way as a USB jobbie though. If you want that sort of interface, you could be looking at something like a Stardom U6 USB unit with hot swappable trays, or Sharkoon Quick Port
  11. From power save mode, press OK until it fires up into Ready mode Press Right twice, OK twice, you are now in the languages menu... have fun!
  12. Fight Club Battle Royale Ran
  13. 320gb/7200rpm is about as big and fast as you can get unless you spend more on a Western Digital 2.5"/300gb raptor (250ish?) or go for a 500gb/5400 Western Digital Scorpio or Samsung (90-100). I've got 2 of the Samsung units. First one died within hours of unboxing it, but the replacement and second unit have been fine ever since, running backups off 50gig files. Only other point is to make sure you buy a drive that actually fits your laptop. Fujitsu make a 500gb one but it's a 12mm unit rather than 9.5 - watch out!
  14. Just to throw another one in the mix, Sennheiser PX200's sit on the ear, aren't especially big, and also fold up into a supplied case. About 35 quid and sounds good with just about everything. If you were really serious about rock/drum&bass, HD25's cost about 4-5 times as much and are somewhat bigger but you'll never look back. HP25SP's are a cheaper version without the double headband. My other pair are Stax electrostatics, but they aren't portable, are open back with no sound isolation, and you need a mains plug for them! Bloomin' fantastic though!
  15. Upper and lower case: RM.com Shop: RM Multicoloured Lowercase Keyboard - USB
  16. What printers are you using? I have a problem with v5 where HP 3600's can't be managed though it works with every other device.
  17. Er, bit extreme innit? Could try this instead of hacking your keyboard: Copy and paste following into a txt document, save with .reg extension Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout] "Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,07,00,00,00,00,00,5B,E0,00,00,5C,E0,00,00,3E,00,00,00,38,00,00,00,38,E0,00,00,1D,E0,00,00,00,00 (Make sure you disable the requirement for Ctrl+Alt+Del at logon otherwise you're going to have an interesting time after you reboot!) Apply and reboot. Should disable F4, both Windows Keys, both Alt keys, and right Ctrl. Can still access start menu with Left Ctrl+Esc, can still copy and paste. Delete it and reboot to reverse it. PM with any probs.
  18. If completely disabling the F4 key is an option you can simply mod the registry hack you did for the Windows key and kill both in the same entry

    Mini Laptop

Last time I checked, Play were doing the blue/512ram/120hd Acer for 200. 1 gig stick of RAM from Crucial was about 11 or 12 quid. Couple of points to note: There is a well known issue with the BIOS locking up, usually a couple of weeks after first use. Look it up on the web and have a bootable USB stick with the latest BIOS files handy... On the other hand you might be lucky! Never had a problem since doing mine, and it was easy enough. Letters in BIOS password can only be entered in caps. Linux SSD to XP is not recommended judging by the threads I have read (speed issues). SSD to HD is not a straight swap either, something about a zif cable and missing SATA port. Upgrading the RAM or changing the hard drive is a dog of a task which involves completely disassembling the bottom part of the unit including unscrewing the motherboard from the chassis and accessing the other side of it. It wasn't designed for easy access! Theoretically it will take less than half an hour if you know what you're doing. My first attempt took an hour and a half, being very careful, and I still managed to mangle the clips holding the keyboard. Battery is a paltry 2.5 hours with the standard unit which is flush with the chassis. An extended one is available too. Max system memory is 1.5gb if you chuck in a one gig stick in the only available slot (512 is built in) Nippy with XP, 2003 Server is pretty quick too (VM or otherwise, though the graphics drivers don't work). Keyboard is better than the EEE 701, but the mouse buttons take some getting used to. Otherwise, spec is untouchable for the price if you are prepared to upgrade it yourself.
  20. ... otherwise, the Dell USFF jobbies have a wall mounting bracket option. You get one bit for the main unit, another for the power supply. Monitor can be wall mounted separately using standard VESA plates.
  21. Asus EEE Top ETP1602?
  22. Could get a pair of KEF Ci jobbies and mount them in the ceiling?

  25. Seems to have a mind of it's own. There are obviously some things it doesn't like about certain computers, even ones that were built from the same image, though admittedly the ones I was initially trying it on were built last year. Tried to reinstall the web components on one and got nowhere. Had Exit Code 4 on another computer, tried again and it worked. Then there was the Exit Code 6 which never showed up again... no useful info in the computer logs or generated by the program. I've wasted so much time troubleshooting (not helped by cryptic error codes and useless technical support who seem to know less than the people posting on the Adobe forums) that it seems the only productive and relatively safe way of doing it is from a completely clean build. That said, if that particular policy has never been modified and is still on Not Configured, you may not have a problem. Looks like it was changed by my predecessor here (many years ago) who specified administrators only... I tend not to touch the default domain policy, this is a good reason why! According to MS: Bypass Traverse Checking "Determines which users can traverse directory trees even though the user may not have permissions on the traversed directory. This privilege does not allow the user to list the contents of a directory, only to traverse directories." Also: "In some situations, it may be difficult to determine which resources must grant anonymous access, or to modify the permissions on all the necessary resources. If so, you can configure Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 to permit anonymous access by the Everyone group" From another site: "Put succinctly, bypass traverse checking gives a process the ability to skip security checks on intermediate directories or Registry keys when it opens a file, directory or Registry key" I tried resetting to Not Configured and it still didn't work, so added in Authenticated Users. Looks OK at the moment, the applications actually launch! Will find out if there are any further issues when everybody starts using it. Read on a couple of forums that some installations mysteriously stopped working and displayed the the licensing error message many months after the initial install so I'm not going to hold my breath, it could be fatal
