As far as I am aware, if you are on a support agreement you cna go to upto 6.0 as part of it (supported until 2020) but to go to 6.5 you have to pay VMWare for the privilege. For that you get support until 2021, hardly a massive difference.

I looked at the FOI again, I don't work in a school but I have done. The requestor is clearly intent on getting the information no matter what cost to the public as a whole. Given the above it is likely motivated for a reason that we won't understand, if bmaloney is the requester then he hasn't given any offered up any reason, so the rest is an assumption, based on the facts he has provided. I hope this research takes into account the bias of court ruling, if more men or women die young or any other variation, maybe the male parents haven't given details because they don't want contacting, maybe the school didn't collect them. Same with male/ female staff ratio, if you advertise jobs and everyone who applies is female then you are likely to appoint a female... This doesn't mean that schools are inherititly bias in one way or another. I am imagining the aim of the research is to to prove that schools don't have enough father's contacts details, and they haven't tried hard enough to contact them... This will then be backed up by the fact the schools have more female staff then male staff (my experience in general), so there must be an unconcious bias against males and the importance of a male role figure in their life.

And such is the problem with the modern world, while statisically it is a large number it is not good enough to prove anything and that was a better authorities response. This isn't a L'Oreal (other brands are available) advert where they can claim 95% of users agree, but the number of users is significantly small. As I said, I'm sure no matter the requestor (who may or may not be the poster), will be able to use the statistics to successfully prove something. I've no idea what and having come from a background with seperate parents it made no difference if the parents were or weren't both involved, then there becomes the question of what "involved" means. How can you prove that one with parents engaged have better outcomes when there is so nany other variations, I also don't know. As you can have all the parents details, but some will be ivnovled and others won't care.

As stated multiple times I don't work in a school anymore and haven't actually ever worked in a Manchester but thanks for assuming. 40% as a response rate isn't really an overwhelming response but base figures on less then 40% of schools, makes the figures you work with even worse.

I would suggest you take the responses from the school's that haven't checked or aren't as bothered by your request being sent how it and make do. I would also suggest like most FOI requests the information will be a case of making stats show what you want them too and any that don't prove the point will be ignored. As much as I would hope everyone published the facts, in reality they don't sadly. I hope the information proves what ever your personal crusade is and then you can continue to argue schools and the education is bias against x, y and z and it's all because there is but enough male/ female teachers/ support staff (delete as appropriate). Schools have enough things to concentrate on and having less money to do it, so why not burden them with another agenda.

All the above is all to the requestors benefit and not to the organisation providing the information. Not having an appropiate sized email account for free is not really the public bodies problem, that is the requestors issue, they didn't out of noone send the account a mass of unrequested emails. I agree in principle with the FOIA and your request might be legitmate, but I assure you there is a mass of requests from IT suppliers etc as well, all taking up time for staff to process and deal with, costing money to deal with. I don't like the general requests sent to everyone because of the time taken to deal with them, and for example there is some evidenace that the FOIA in the pass to deliberately delay things. As I said, there is two sides to all these requests. I feel you are taking it a little personally that people haven't replied to your request because the ICO said it didn't meet the required standards, maybe they are using it as an excuse not to reply, I don't know to be honest. They can be as picky as they want though, as I said make it so they have to reply if you want to force them to.

Ignoring all the complaints about how the request was made, and the fact it doesn't comply with the rules set out. This is all done for the benefit of the requestor only and adds to the task for the schoool, requests accepting PDFs for example, mean you can easily upload the documentation to your website and then it is available to anyone, which is in theory a longer term benefit, and not in one persons private collection. I don't personally see why the requestor shouldn't be expected to do some legwork as well, and say either use this form or send via a pdf or similar, best of both worlds. I won't go into schools ringing you, because that's ridiculous! I don't work in a school anymore, but as soon as anyone claimes that they taxes pay the public sectors wages, I kind of lose hope. Police get told it, the fire service do, the ambulance service, and it feels like an entitlement society. You can gaurantee to not got anyone help you any more then the minimum amount they have to. I don't know how much tax people pay, but I find it amusing when one person in the street claims to pay someone wages as they probably contribute pennies to each persons salary. An FOI request to every school in England (say 24,000), even if it costs every school only £5 to process it, costs the country as a whole (and all the tax payers inevitably) over £100,000. Every FOI request costs huge amounts to process, whether it is a legitimate concern that a parent is on a crusade to solve a real issue (which is often needed to force changes), a business trying to glean information or anything else. Without public authorities being able to simply ignore the requests that fail to meet the correct format, then we will evitably end up with anything that isn't right but seems right having to be responded to. If someone really wants the information then stick to the formats a public authority has to respond to, then you will get the information, but also remember ever request costs every tax payer money to process, so make sure the request is for a legitimate reason (I have no idea whether this one is or isn't).

I used them for over 8 eyars in previous jobs with no problems whatsoever. The support and installation did get worse though after the merger, an upgraded line took months longer then it should have.

I never understood why you get paper bags for mushrooms but plastic for the rest. Bananas etc there is no point putting them in but apples and the light need something really. If your picking them yourself then paper is fine and always has been, it can't be to make them look more appealing to a customer because you have picked loose ones. I can only assume it is partly to do with making it easier/ quicker for checkout staff to identify fruits etc. The real question is, if a supermarket started using potato starch or other alternative bags and trays which they could, would everyone be willing to pay more? Probably it it was the pennies that it actually costs, the problem it the new "super recylable trays" will cost 5 times extra what the cost should actually be and the supermarkets will profiteer on it. The amount of rubbish big companies come up with about their green credentials, its utter tripe. I worked at Kwik Save over 15 years ago and the plastic bags there (cost a penny) but biodegraded in 5 years. Not perfect but that was 15 years ago, its taken all this time to get to charge for bags, and even then the bags won't degrade, aren't all made of 100% recyled material either and shops can choose to donate to a good cause. 15 years ago a milkman only delivered in glass bottles, now they do plastic a lot of the time. Glass is better for the environment overall.

You'll never compare, because th question is really is that a 25k budget you can choose what to spend it on or not. My old work had a budget of just over 45k I believe for a 800 student school. However, that included all consumables and all licensing. So the actual "spendable" part was more like 10k-20k depending on the year of a lifecycle, e.g. filtering for the next 5 years taking a large chunk one year.

Problems with to strong a water pressure is like a dream for me, I live in an area where the pipes are so leaky the Fire Brigade have to ask United Utilities to up the pressure if there is a fire because the hydrants don't have enough pressure or flow. Down the road 2 miles though, its fine, I use to live there.

We use to make it clear that everything on a computer a student could get access to had SSL inspection on, so all IT suites on vritaully all sites (banking an exception for example) Computers students shoudl never access, main office, staff room etc were still inspected but much reduced, so shopping sites, banking, webmail etc wasn't inspected, the URLs were just logged. Seemed a fair compromise, as when staff are having their lunch why shouldn't they be allowed to do some shopping for example.

I'm personally of the option the SWA isn't capable of providing filtering very well. It has a range of applications including Google Docs, Box and Dropbox included to be allowed or denied but only iTunes for Apple which is hardly reassuring. I don't have the time to troubleshoot Sophos's product for them, I was hoping someone lse might have had the same problem and it would be an easy fix, nevermind Sophos support can deal with the ticket, that's what we paid for.

Not a school, so the issue is probably less serious. However, with HTTPS Scanning enabled on our Sophos Web Appliance we are unable to get the "Photos" application on an iMac to download any images, or even show the images to be honest. It gets stuck at updating 266 images, so it can see the images but cannot download them. I have added icloud.com and apple.com to the HTPPS exceptions, I have even added windows.net as that appears may be related as well depending on what you read. Please bear in mind the amount of options on a SWA is poor. Any ideas?

Make sure you do the trick of putting the feet on wrong, put the left on the right etc. It means they can't be swivelled very easily (though thats a state school issue maybe) if they becomes as issue. Also did they provide you with the screws to stop the monitor being spun around from horizontal to vertical? If not ask them for them and you get them normally. Although I left my previous job, I'll take some of the credit for the metal fronts and school logo being an option as we tested the original cases when they first had them in stock and told them the plastic was rubbish and our kids would destroy it, which resulted in VeryPc going off and producting a metal front for us that could be branded. We still had one of the original metal fronts that was tested but wasn't bent enough. The final ones they sent to us (branded) were fine though. Branded metal fronts looks a lot better as well.

So Netflix are claiming it as a "Netflix Original" and launching it this week when it has already been shown on Channel 4 and was available on All4. So basically Netflix have bought the risks to show it internationally I assume. Oh well I guess that makes their claim kind of valid if this modern world.

Is it different to the TV Series that was on Channel 4 already?

There is some technical reason I can't remember which basically means it looks at itself for the .local accounts and times out or a similar reason before then actually going to the network to see the accounts. Then there is another fun issue with mapped drives not being unmapped which can cause issues around one person logging off then the next not being able to login.

I don't work at a school anymore, but locations can be setup using a full DNS name and it works. We use to use the full DNS name for blocking classrooms at once, it's annoying creating a location first time but never had real issues.

I'd personally just end support and stick to the latest Silverlight, get a copy of their guides first. You never need to ring them for the hosted version breaking, more for when your not sure what to do and don't want to look yourself. Not worth the money.

Why do people buy things they have never used before, with no idea what they are going to use when they have bought it? Fine ignore whatever everyone suggests, but if you decide to buy the alternative use the Internet to check what software is available for your purchase. Your asking the same people you ignored first time to give you more suggestions...
