So assuming the SAR is fully legitimate, unless you have software that can do it (and you trust it) then someone has to manually redact all the documentation themselves. It's one of those things, think yourself lucky we have someone here whose full time job seems to be going through SARs, well at least 2 or 3 days a week. He frequently has to go through 1000s of emails. Sometimes, and I'm not saying the member of staff will agree but you could tell them how many emails there are, and that it will take a long time to redact them, and ask if they want to be more specific to allow them to get the results quicker. We have had people provide more exact dates, or ask when there name is mentioned when corresponding to certain departments etc. You know things like, your name but not when sent to "All Staff" or "All Teachers" they might be happy with and it will remove a lot of the generic emails. However, it fully depends on the other persons motives.

Mattresses are personal choice, it depends if you like a firm or soft one or one in between etc. Also surely you can keep your duff one and then put it back on the bed when you move out and have a nice new one for a while.

I think we should just go back to pen and paper, and remove computers from schools, but definitely stop the Internet in schools. Sure it will probably ruin the child's education but at least they then can't harm themselves, be monitored, produce data on themselves etc, then the digital mourners would be quiet. The same people who complain about monitoring in a school, probably let there children loose on the Internet at home with no filtering, they have there own devices that the children "only use for educational purposes" of course but will then complain when little Bart/ Betty/ Dante/ Esmerelda access a site which offends them (not them, not the actual child). The blog produced by Jen will sit on the Internet with all the other rubbish that is out there, that someone once wrote, MMR jabs will give you child some illness for definite etc. Then people can follow them, be paranoid about the world all watching there child (who is consequently in hospital with measles because someone put on the Internet that MMR was bad), having recovered from Polio earlier this year (that vaccine is dangerous as well I'm sure) and will then cry foul that the world is against them. If the poster is really interested in protecting a child's interests (I'm not talking about the rubbish in this thread), then they need to be tackling Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Netflix, in fact almost every website a child logs into or uses, as they are tracking literally everything they do on the Internet all the time, as I would estimate the vast majority of people just click yes to everything when they access websites, sign up to accounts etc. We live in a world where you are most likely caught on CCTV daily, your movements are being tracked by your phone and your data is being mined and exploited no matter what the EU has tried to do.

The only issue I have with them is they give feedback onto my speakers, these are 18 year old surround sound I still have on my computer. But it's quite frustrating still. Basically downloading resulting in buzzing sound, its like I'm back in the 90s with modems again. Only affects these really old speakers though, my headset etc are fine. Before the suggestions pour in about ferrite loops, putting them through a surge protected cable, this makes no difference. I suspect, like a lot of others who have a similar issue, the speakers are just badly designed for this type of tech. A good old figure of 8 plug through a transformer that clearly is bigger then it needs to be. I'll buy some more one day (maybe). The buzz isn't bad enough to stop me using them, as inevitably games/ music are louder and it is limited.

The above is correct, support has ended for both versions though. Basically you need to upgrade your VMWare version as well ideally, 5.5 won't support 2019.

So you can VPN correctly and everything works except the DNS for the folder redirection. So a client connected through the VPN if they try to ping fileserver.YOURCHOOL.ORG.UK or whatever you DNS name is, it gets dropped pings? What happens if you put a conditional forwarder on your Smoothwall DNS for all the .YOURSCHOOL.ORG.UK to go to the correct server? Does it still drop the pings? Otherwise could you try redirected folders using IPs instead of DNS names for the off site people? I am aware this might cause you other issues, but it will prove if the issue is DNS related.

12 carriages, you are lucky! During rush hour, we get 2 old diesel carriages, well the good old buses on rail trains (Pacers). The trains are full at the first station then no one can get on at all for the rest of the journey! All the stations on this particular route can handle 6 carriage trains, but you only get them off-peak when no one wants to go on them (if I was being optimistic, I would say they are using it to move stock about and it's clever). We have electrified lines where they still run the Diesel pacer trains all day, can't be any value for money there. I'm not a frequent rail passenger as it is expensive, slow and generally a crap experience. Living in the North also means places tend to cater for people driving and thus parking a little bit better as well, as places like Manchester operate as a "in then out" setup. so to got 5 miles East, you have to travel 6 Miles North then 6 Miles South again and takes hours, or 10 minutes driving. I did however, while travelling off peak on a Sunday, go on an updated Diesel train, sure it was still noisy and cold (and they hadn't bothered with anything but cosmetics), but it had working LED lighting, new cushions on the seat and a new lining on the sides and ceiling. Maybe they think they can pretend these are totally new trains and no one will notice it's just a polished turd.

I like the fact they compare it to live music, sporting events or going to the theatre. All of which involve a live performance, as oppose to watching a screen... and by the very nature of it involving the actual people means events are almost restricted access (people can only perform in one place at once) and usually a better experience. They should compare it to watching a recording of a football match or similar if they want an equivalent.

Tradesman in general are forever a pain to deal with, from not turning up to give quotes at arranged times. Not turning up to do an agreed job, to wanting to be paid in cash, I'm sure this isn't for any unscrupulous reasons of course. Then they are the first to complain as well when you change anything, something is perfect for them. Sadly at the moment, the number of tradesman available in most areas is way less then the demand, around here due to the boom in building in the city centre they can all get longer term contract work, they don't need the domestic work and ultimately become a nightmare to deal with and there is nothing you can do. Of course, the person may have genuinely been off ill and you might get a phone call today saying the boss has agreed to pay someone overtime to get it sorted on some days off and sorry for the inconvenience (he might be sorting that for you right now), so as others have said, don't burn your bridges yet. But when you come to pay, tell the guy look we had agreed dates and I've had time off work for no reason as you guys didn't turn up, which has ultimately lost me a days off holiday with my family or a days wages if I take it unpaid and see what they say.

I bought a Motorola G5 Plus from eGlobal, I would describe my experience as ok. The item took 2 weeks to go to dispatched then 2 more weeks to arrive which was disappointing considering it was in stock and their website implies you'll get it in 7 days. The customer service takes about 5 days to reply, so I imagine returning an item is a nightmare. I was of the opinion that I wasn't in a rush for the item, and I had used Paypal so I was covered, so it was worth the risk. I suspect most people get their items but everyone wants things now now now, and eGlobal fails there, so will get loads of bad reviews as a result.

The problem is a store can trade profitable, as an individual store. The debt repayments of the overall business (to fund expansion usually), weighs them down and wipes out any profits that stores make. Closing stores might = selling the locations for a profit, which returns money to the business. Most businesses these days seem to have huge amount of unsustainable debts, the type of thing consumers are told to avoid (but still often get into).

Companies change their terms of use, the people using it for free are essentially costing them money so they must have figured out losing some of them is worth it overall.

If your backups take 10 hours 30 minutes to complete, and they are interfering in the daily running of an organisation then you have bigger issues then what we can deal with for you. You need to work out why they take so long, why are you backing up so much stuff or is the network just that slow? If you really need a backup that takes 10 hours (I really don't believe you do) then you need to get better timing of it so it doesn't interfere with the place you are working. It might be a case of the printer issue is the tip of an iceberg of a problem.

Check the switch logs, but your only item not replaced is the switch or used a different physical port.

It's not as simple as the reports as individual documents are sent to the printer in the order (by class or whatever, as oppose to alphabetical), so if direct to a printer they come out in the same order it receives them. When going to Papercut they just queue and when you open your queue it is alphabetical, send 2 documents yourself with different names but with the later in the alphabet one first and see which order they show in your queue? I suspect it is sorting the hold queue alphabetically, admittedly I have no idea how or why.

Have you got ADFS set up already? If so then make sure you have a valid cert on your Moodle installation, then install the plugin. The SAML plugin creates the config file to copy into ADFs from memory.

Are you saving anything on the desktops or are the profiles redirected, the home drives on central storage as well? If there is nothing saved on the computers then why are you encrypting them? Windows 10 should do encryption with Bitlocker and a PIN only, which will inevitably everyone will know if it is shared and will be on a note on the monitor in no time.

Your title of the thread is GDPR - When I'm off ill..., I think that was pretty explicit in that you thought it was a GDPR issue. You were asking a question on a forum within a data protection area. Whether a post on a forum is talking about an issue or not is personal opinion, as sometimes I believe it is and others it isn't. Either way it's about talking to the correct people (e.g work colleagues and management) which is what I was clearly implying. Once you have gotten over being offended and trying to insult me, just think about it, everyday you are told how to behave I'm afraid by people whether you like it or not, from extremes (e.g. don't go around killing people) to smaller things (e.g. what time you have to be at work). Anyway the result of talking to the correct people, those at your place of work, this problem was solved and everyone was satisfied. So it seems that I was in fact correct after all, conversation solved the problem without any need to mention GDPR issues.

I don't understand why you are trying to make it a GDPR issue, just ask for it not to say that are off ill. They call it conversation and being reasonable, this is something that the vast majority of society are perfectly capable of, instead of making it into something else. If people were more capable of talking about something and not trying to make sure they will get their own way before they even think about talking about something the world would work much better, so ask whoever produces the list if it can be changed to say absent or even have your name removed if that's what you so desire. If they don't think they should or won't change it (for whatever reason, they might have a legitimate one that you don't know about), then you can deal with that then.

A lot of them need filling but not all. For example the: $ldap_dn_search_attrib = "sAMAccountName"; $ldap_dn_search_dn = "cn=User,cn=Users,dc=domain,dc=local; $ldap_dn_search_password = "PASSWORD"; This tells the LDAP setup what account to look with the search_dn and the search_password. The attribute is what it is returning, hence sAMAccoutnName You probably want it to return the email address as well. By the way if you have ADFS setup there is SAML modules which are probably a better way to do internal logins now.

There is an obsession with changing things and spending money to make things how you want them on this forum and has been for years. Don't get me wrong it might not be easiest but take a practicla approach, work out what you have, how its working and check it is doing what it meant to be doing. If the backups work now, and have been working, then understand them and keep them. If the servers are working then make sure you understand what is doing what and keep it. Until you understand how the school works, what they have and why, then don't try and change anything unless you have the SLT telling you it doesn't work properly and there is money set aside to fix it. No one wants a technician/ manager or the like coming in, saying this and this and this needs doing, it will cost you x amount of money, when they haven't understood the workign requirements of the place because they have only worked there a few months. nevermind the days/ weeks we are currently talking about. Hindsight is wonderful but ideally in future try to take an afternoon of time in lieu, annual leave etc and go to meet the person leaving if possible, yes you shouldn't need to but it makes your longer term life easier.

There are advantages and disadvantages to living everywhere and there are places in cities that can't get fibre broadband without leased lines still, so it isn't rural discrimination. When the people providing the service need to make money they do the palces that they make money first. As a country we don't have full mobile coverage, not everyone is on main gas for example or mains water. Don't get me wrong I do think that broadband is becoming a necessity for some things but at the same time, not everyone can have everything. I can barely get 3G, nevermind 4G and I live in a city suburb, and until recently I could only get upto 2MB broadband from BT et al.

Is it just me who finds the terminology used to describe broadband awful. Your have broadband, fast broadband, superfast broadband, ultrafast broadband. 4 names for a range of speeds from less then 1MB to upto 80MB. Probably all called "slow" in South Korea and a fair bit of Europe as well.
