  1. 40 minutes.. We'd let the UPS handle it. Takes about 2 hours to take everything on and off again here currently.
  2. If you add a new user, then delete the profiles of all the others then it will probably work. It's basically if you click or touch the apps in anyway then it can't be sysprepped.
  3. What happens is you have a legacy, expensive to run system, that is probably unreliable. You replace that with a cloud system, so you compare an antique system with a new one, and boom cost savings. Could you have replaced it with a new local system, we just gloss over that because it doesn't suit the agenda or the goals. Anything cloud based always ignores any connection charges as well.
  4. I don't want to bash the Email Gateway to much because maybe it is adequate for your needs, however we have a 2nd free filter behind it which still catches thousands of spam emails a month. Across about 500 employees. My main issue with it is the lack of ability to customise the way it works, add custom rules in etc. It is kind of we decide what is low, medium or high, if it is wrong then there isn't much you can do to fix it. We had some really obvious stuff getting through and all you can do is report it to Sophos to solve for you. I work within the private sector now, so bare that in mind but we are probably going to Mimecast, but we have different levels of funding available to us and different requirements I suspect. It also offers us a decent secure messaging option etc, so it ticks other boxes that Sophos simply couldn't.
  5. Sophos Email gateway is terrible in my personal opinion. We use PureMessage for our onside Exchange and are currently in the process (I am doing testing right now) of moving from Enterprise to Central
  6. Until they bump up the cloud pricing when they have captured enough of the market.
  7. Until MS/ Google etc increase your pricing and you have no option but to pay. If I was going server less (which I'm not as I don't work in schools any more), I would base my costs on halfway between commercial and education minimum when comparing because like all the as a service products out there, they exist for one reason only, to get a guaranteed income for companies for a cheaper cost to them as well. So increase profits. It's been seen in the past, the provider updates something, breaks something then takes months to fix it while you still pay the same cost. You can't roll things back yourself.
  8. I'm no expert with MySQL etc and we use Linux boxes normally. However, I suspect that maybe Moodle is using a deprecated function (so it existed within MySQL 5 but not 7), so when it attempts to run the command against the MySQL an error is thrown out. There is probably nothing wrong with your actual database. Do you use any extra plugins?
  9. No you don't but you do influence the rules. If you find a free App that supports Peak times and can be account wiped and respects O365 rules (I'm assuming O365), then get your SLT to promote that due to the benefits then you can make the change over slowly and make staff happier. SLT might claim the credit, but there's nothing you can do with that, I don't know what your SLT are like. We don't allow work emails on none work devices any more, unless the user is happy to go into our MDM so we can wipe the emails off and we also force use of a particular App as well. But this is a Housing Association so we may have more influence and the organisation has more to lose probably but breaches etc.
  10. Then you need to change your App. There is no GDPR implications at all as long as the mail app support remote wipe etc (which most do). Do you allow them to access email on personal devices or is every device owned by the organisation, because if it is the former, then the GDPR argument is even weaker as you don't really control these fully anyway.
  11. The issue is surely all to do with when the emails are expected to be actioned, not when they are being sent. Staff should have schedules on their devices so they aren't checking emails out of work hours by default, so they are actively having to do it to even notice. Loads of Email Apps allow this now, with different schedules for different accounts. Once people aren't checking the emails until they are back in work hours then no one will expect things to have been looked at before work hours, so that will die off as well. It being very much a squishy issue so to speak. If there really is an urgent reason to contact someone then a phone call should be used not an email or text. If you don't want to disturb them with a phone call, it isn't urgent.
  12. Not a MAT, but we have 7 offices all with internal fibres or EAD links between them and out to an MPLS to the Internet Breakout primarily, but also as a fail over should the EAD/ internal fibre links go down. When I say internal fibre, I mean a fibre run through our own ducting underneath the pavements etc to other offices.
  13. I honestly have no real issue (except the overpriced part) of the trunking costs etc. What I don't like is being given a cost for the move, then they require a survey to be complete, then the survey is part of the ECCs. If a survey is needed to be able to move something then so be it but at least have the decency to include the cost in the move cost, as I was always having to pay it. It's like they have tried to make it look cheaper by removing part of the cost which is mandatory anyway.
  14. Mine is the relocation of end equipment from one floor to another where they are charging the above. I have a copy of the excessive construction charges which include the survey, trunking costs etc.
  15. You can see a list of Openereach prices online, they publish the standard costs. It doesn't surprise me that they reach over the install limits, they rip you off for everything. Your install costs will be £1500, but we'll send someone to survey to check, you think ok that makes sense. Openreach then send you the bill for the survey, that they enforce you to have but don't include in the normal costs. Also £10 per meter of trunking, £50 to drill a wall etc. Soon racks up. That's ignoring the standard incompetence and jobsworth that usually turn up and do one miniscule part of a job. Like the guy who has to unplug the equipment and move it, but someone else plugs in it. The guy who runs fibre can't run a phone line but can't splice fibre, he literally puts it to the right place... Call they BT by mistake and they get offended, as they are Openreach... Which is part of the BT Group still... and might as well still be, they aren't independent really and they have the same attitude.
  16. I'd be sceptical about how good the 10 year warranties actually are, they sound to much like the extended used car warranties you buy, where everything is a a replaceable part or an excuse of, oh we don't make that part any more so it's not covered... That valve, that's a replaceable part, that bit broke because your radiator internals broke down to much, so your system was full of gunk, so it's not covered. I have a Viessmann boiler, it has a rubber pipe in it which attracts all the gunk (not by design), which then means all the gunk is essentially inside the boiler and then gets into the heat exchange plate and eventually it needs replacing. Replacing/ cleaning the pipe or replacing the heat exchanger aren't covered in the warranty as Veissmann say it isn't a design flaw. However, on the newer models of the same boiler, this pipe has been replaced by a copper one instead, which doesn't attract the gunk and then doesn't cause the problem... So the none problem has been fixed. - - - Updated - - - With regards to flues, you can have them out a roof if you want, my parents is.
  17. You can move that easily as well, assuming you are using named virtual hosts, then you can change the path the website points to in there. if you are worried, copy the files to the new location, do something simple to it, like hardcode a title in it. Then change the config file, restarted the httpd service and refresh the moodle page, you should on your "new" version with the title you put in to make it really easy to see the difference. Just make sure where ever you move it to, that the permissions are correct.
  18. Yeah you'd think so wouldn't you, there are 2 quite universally accepted standards as mentioned. PAC/ GDX have 3 frequencies they use, 1 being really low, one in the middle and one high. There is a crossover on the higher one I think, it still works with the Mifare ones. I can't find my notes at the moment. It's one of those cases where the company doesn't follow the standards. We had to buy special readers for our printers that read all frequencies, we also have offices with readers that do all frequencies and others that only manage a couple of types.
  19. It's all about the frequency of the readers, I've just spent months dealing with door access at my place of work. Wrong frequency and the chips can't be read, there is about 4 or 5 different frequencies out there.
  20. Welcome to the world of non education pricing, vSAN is pretty competitive!
  21. We aren't a school and are probably going through a similar process on a bigger scale with more powerful hosts and demands. We are most likely going down the VSAN route.
  22. They are fine until you have to return anything. They try to wriggle out of everything from trying to make you go to the manufacturer for a warranty claim, blaming the delivery companies (well it is Yodel, so what do they expect). It's the same reputation a lot of insurance companies have, they are great until you have to make a claim, when you realise they were actually crap.
  23. Of course it won't but for the next 5 years we can now hear how they are super devoted to tackling this super serious issue and it was them who brought in some unenforceable legislation that will probably never be used.
  24. Seems they were binned in a tidy up I'm afraid, simply a case of we'll never use these!
  25. What's the kit look like? Are we talking wall mount kits, most of ours are on the ceiling tiles here so we might have come.
