@mrstrong not used teams - created the sharepoint sites manually. Student SharePoint Site Edited the site permissions to rename the visitor group to show as student read only just to make it obvious that anyone in that group had read only permissions to site Created a couple folders and added some test users but that is as far as I got for the student sharepoint site. Same for then staff sharepoint site. I have since created a IT HelpGuide site with 2 document libraries - for for all user guides with everyone as read only and a second for staff guides with just staff added as read only. Tested with student account and the staff library does not appear for students. Hope that helps

Will be looking to migrate our Student Shared Document and Staff Shared Document to their own SharePoint sites. Sites have been created and I've just fine tuning the permission on them. For those schools which have made the move, how did you go about this - would you mind sharing your process and experiences? Cheers

Staff are excepted to work as normal. I've tried point out to SLT that providing training is harder as staff are using personal devices at home - so no common platform and there are some slight difference when using Teams on the different platforms. I just get the usual respond - no money.

Never seen or used Intune - so currently looking at different laptops which will be used by students which will be used and kept at home. Have AOVPN setup and seems to work well - so at a push I could use SCCM to manage things - but this relies on the student having internet access. So my next thought was set up as a standalone lapotop so they can use it offline and when it does connect to the internet, I could use something like Intune to manage them - only no idea about Intune. Can I ask for those using Intune to manage laptops kept and used offsite - how and what to you manage on them? Cheers

SLT have has a policy in place even before I started 6 years ago that once exisiting staff laptops failed then they wouldnt be replaced. Exisiting staff laptops - are basically for them to use as they please. I am wanting to change this and try to persuade SLT the value of giving teaching staff laptops again but this time they will be managed laptops - so we control what is installed etc I have tried pointing out some of the benefits such as makes training easier as everyone will be using the same platform if working from home and will also help deliver lessons with in school or from home should they need to teach remotely. Struggling to put words on a page to try and sell this to SLT..... so if anyone is who as done this before be willing to share any proposals they have put together for laptops projects for staff? Oh Definitely needs SSD I meant the Size of SSD shouldn't be an issue - 120GB should be more than enough.

So laptop & doc would be the preferred method most people would go for. I've never used a dock in my life so I have no idea what they are like... What Make/Model of laptop including Dock would people recommend? Either way will end up costing a pretty penny as we have 70 Teaching staff and then would think of gett 5 extra for "emergencies" --Edit-- I supposed spec wise SSD storage shouldn't be an issue as I would be asking staff to use Office 365 Apps and pointing staff to store work on Office 365/SharePoint

Had another thought about equipment - instead of laptops and docs etc..... What are peoples thoughts on Widows Tablets - such as Surface Go and then using a Microsoft Wireless display adapter for screen sharing etc.? Would a Surface Go be up to running things such as Office and Sims.net?

New Deputy Headteacher wants a new website as our current website which I redesigned 5 years ago using WordPress is not "Pretty" enough and needs to be our "Shop Window" so we can "Sell" the school are the phrases he used. He had taken upon himself to get companies in to give demos and provide quotes for a new website without evening asking me first to see if I can redo the site (which I redid 5 years ago on the cheap due to money being used as the excuse last time) - and is still being used now - but amazingly they can find money for a website costing upwards of £4k. During the demos - which I was invited to with 2 days notice when I found out about him wanting a new website - and the Head is merrily going along with it - he even used the same phrases to them!! So do I stand back - let them do what they want, spend money which they say they don't have and or do I ask them - have you actually looked at that can be done in house before spending money which SLT insist we don't have, I will look at a redesign the current school website will start from scratch in terms of themes, content - the lot. For school which host/design their own sites - what backend systems do you use - and how do you ensure they are kept secure? CHeers

Thinking of buying one of these fancy fandangle heating systems. Initially going to start with just the thermostat and then gradually buy the smart radiator thermostats with the idea to control temp in each room - especially babies room when she eventually moves into her own room. Question is which one system? Hive, Nest or Todo? We’ve go a Worcester combi boiler with 7 radiators Cheers

I can see a 'computer' certificate but looks like it isn't set to auto-enroll when I look at the security settings. Might Duplicate a Cert for testing - choices are Computer or Workstation Authentication.....

Looking at using Device Tunnel - which as I understand uses Computer based Certificates as opposed to user based certificates. Have a GPO for both computer and user certificate auto enrollment and ran certlm.ms and gone into Personal -> Certificates and cannot see any client based certificate. Anyone who uses Device tunnel able to point me in the right direction? Cheers

Excellent Laptop with USB C -> Single Cable -> Dock with Power, VGA, Audio and NIC That would be solve loads of issues, especially for those staff who are not as technologically minded as others. 14" Laptop with USC for power etc. USB C Dock to deliver power, Video, Audio and Possibly NIC Laptop Bag Graphics Tablet (May be optional) Sadly I have a feeling this is going to be beyond any budget the school can afford Might need to come up with a very very convincing proposal to convince SLT to seriously think about this and look at leasing to help with the costs.

Do staff use graphics tablets at all?

How do they connect to Projectors/TV Screens? - Do they plug cables into laptop or use a dock? Cheers

We don't give staff laptops, so if staff have to self-isolate they have to use whatever kit they own to try and deliver lessons which as you can imaging has and does cause some issues. I'm trying to come up with a standard list of equipment to give to staff to enable them to deliver lessons from anywhere. Idea is that they carry this kit around with them and use in their teaching rooms and then take home and use there. - Unless we ke From this list I am going to try and persuade SLT to either Lease or purchase the kit to not only make everyone's lives that little bit easier but more importantly make my life easier when it comes to support and training. So - for schools who have given their staff laptops - do they use it as their sole teaching device what sort of kit have you given them? This is my kit list from the top of my head from 5 mins of thinking and not looked at things in depth. Laptop (either 14" or 15" - min spec 8gb/240gb/i3/webcam) + Bag - (All TV and Projectors use VGA and 3.5mm Audio) - So laptop will need HDMI, VGA and onboard NIC - not sure on dock - any benefits? Graphics Tablet (to allow annotations, drawings etc) We use Office 365 - so will be looking to make use of 365 - and AOVPN Would be interesting to see how other school do things and knowing advantages and disadvantages of things. After a bit a smack around the head in terms of - do it like this and not like that setup! Taken me 2 days to work through the MS Documentation due to constant interruptions and trying to workout where I left off etc..... Anyway..... network is VLAN'd - main devices on the LAN and BYOD on Smoothwall via NPS server. Do the IP addresses the VPN server hands out need to be on a VLAN? If so - on the LAN or on Smoothwall? or can they be a totally random set of IP Addresses unrelated to the network?? Will be looking to do device tunnel at somepoint so laptops offsite have same access as per onsite devices. Cheers

I installed both roles on same VM as thought it would be easier and noticed it complained. I do already have NPS running radius for WiFi so will use that one for the VPN stuff as well.

When people have installed AOVPN - have you installed NPS on the same VM as the VPN role or kept the roles separate? Cheers

Does anyone know if it is possible to export photos from Net2 either by some clever SQL code or by some other method. Cheers
