  1. Cheers Guys - Teams it will be
  2. I have asked a similar question before but that was purely a sharepoint question. Backgroud info: We have a staff network share with NTFS permissions locking down folders so that only members of a relevant department can write to relevant departmental folders and currently all staff can view all folders. We have already moved the Student Resources to SharePoint and now I am looking to move the departmental areas off prem into the cloud. I am going for a seperate team/sharepoint site per department with AD/Azure Group permission for setting who has access - so anyone in the Local AD group for a certain dept, can then access/save to the relevant Site. I will also have a Central "All Staff" Teams/SharePoint Site for documents/information that relates to all staff. Now...this is where I am in two minds....... Do I create a Team per department, so staff can take advantage of Teams feature (it is up to thm if they use them or not) but will give them access to a SharePoint Site as well or Do I create a simple SharePoint Site for them to access and save documents and no other features? For those who have migrated to the cloud - how have you done it? Cheers
  3. Cheers for the replies - think if and when I get asked, It will be a simple no cannot be done :-)
  4. Is it possible to put a global delay on sending emails to external accounts for certain users in an AD group? Not been asked yet, but is will be coming and I want to get a head of it before I start getting mithered by SLT! Cheers
  5. And good news - now working Cheers for the info and help
  6. Ah right... so basically use untagged/pvid for the base vlan and then tagg the rest to allow traffic through. So switch mgment VLAN 10 (untagged/pvid) and then all other vlans as tagged. - that right? Bit confusing with the TRK ports. but good to know
  7. I have just purchased a 24 port Aruba 1960 - and I have to say I am not a huge fan of the interface! How the heck do you sort VLANs on it? I have it on my test bench in the office and I have port 24 what I beleive to be configured as a trunk port (TRK1) - nothing else tagged or untagged on that port Port 1 - Set to VLAN 240 as PVID 240 and untagged and notthing. And Nada! - no dhcp and network tester not evening picking up a trace of a vlan being configured on the port. What am I doing wrong? Cheers
  8. I've managed to dodge both of these until now - Sensitivity Labels and Email Encryption, as in the past things have been sent via password protected documents. With a new Headeacher PA starting, I have been asked to look at possibly setting up Sensitivity Labels our Outlook for staff. Is there a way to force staff to select a Sensitity label before sending emails? Also.... Outlook email encryption, how easy is it to set up and roll this feature to staff? Cheers
  9. Morning all I currently have 2 x Chrisie LW555 Projectors in our sports hall and they have served us well but sadly its is looking like I need to replace them. Anyone recommend any AV Suppliers/Installers in the North West (Manchester) area? Cheers
  10. What’s the warranty like on Aurba kit?
  11. I currently use Ubiquiti EdgeMax Lite switches (ES-48 range) for my edge switches. I have a mixture of 16, 24 and 48 port switches both POE and Non-POE versions with the 48 Port versions having SFP+ uplinks. Recently I have suffered 4 switch failures (2 x POE and 2 x Non POE) - all out of warranty and replacements impossible to get! - Thankfully I had spares at the time and I have just used my last spare switch with several POE injectors to get things up and running. So I have decided to slowly start moving to another brand with better warranty as if 4 have gone then it is only a matter of time before others start to fail. What I would like is...... To be able to manage them centrally - or at least have a centralised dashboard to monitor them - but not essential. VLAN support a must as we use VLANs 24 and 48 Port Non POE with SFP+ uplinks 24 and 48 Port POE+ with SFP+ uplinks (could have a combination of IP Phones, Unifi AP's, Paxton units with Video Entry Panels, HIKVision DS-2CD2345FWD-i CCTV cameras) A supplier with stock! I'm looking for at least a 48 Port POE switch and a 24 Port POE to start and then will go from there. I've had a quick look at FS switches (S3900) and Aurba Instant On (1960) What do other people use and recommend? Cheers
  12. Here are the card reader settings on one of my integrated readers on a MFC-L9570CDW Hope that helps. Cheers Mark
  13. I have a Windows NPS server with Smoothwall and Unifi APs I use a Linux box to host the controller, so not sure how different it will be but will PM you a PDF guide I created for setting it up.
  14. For those people out there who use FS.com switches - how do you manage these? Is there any central management system for them or is it a case of managing them individually? Cheers.
  15. Afternoon all Anyone know of any companies in the North West area (preferably Manchester area) that could look at repairing Ubiquiti EdgeMax Lite - ES-48-750W switches? I have 2 that have died within weeks of each other and both out of warranty. 1st Switch - powers on with just fans 2nd Switch - powers on with fans and a couple of lights on the front of the switch. Can't find stock anywhere - hence looking to get them repaired. Would irritate me to have to get 2 different switches when all my other edge switches are EdgeMax Lites. Cheers
  16. Purchased it Seperately, so we have to pay monthly for it via a CSP (think I CSP bit have that right)
  17. Sounds like a stupid question - but how do people assign Minecraft Licences to users? I have the licences - but there is a bit conflicting showing on my Office 365 Portal. On the 365 Portal -> Billing -> Licenses - Minecraft isnt listed. On the 365 Portal -> Billing -> Your Products - Minecraft is listed with the number of licesnses but I cannot assigned licenses as I get an error and it shows number assigned as 0 If I go to the Education Store - I can assign licences to a user by adding their email address and I can see the number of licenses assigned - which is different to above I've gone back to my reseller, who has gone to the supplier and we are told the only way to assigned licenses is via the Store. - which is retireing in the Q1 of 2023! So how do other people assign their Minecraft Licenses? is the Store the only way? Cheers
  18. I’ve had a quote for card exchange for use on 2 computers with AD and Net2 integration and it was a bit more than I was expecting. May have to stick with the manual process for now :-(
  19. Afternoon all I'm looking to streamline ID Card Production as currently we have to Print ID Cards and then manually scan them into each system such as Paxton, Papercut, Entrysign. We have a MagiCard 600 Printer with Elatec Endcoder built-in, so I would like to take advantage of this and be able to print and encode at the same time.... but paxton doesn't work with the encoder. Ideally I would like to use a single piece of Software which we can centrally manage, add users, print and encode cards and then that software will feed into the other systems. I've seen mentions of CardExchange - which looks like it will take care of the Paxton side of things. I'm also thinking Card Exchnage can then Sync to ID Card Token to AD and then Papercut would sync the AD field to allow the ID Card to be used. Which takes care of 2 of the systems - or so I am thinking...... (what version of Card Exchange would I need to have AD Sync and Paxton Integration?) Entrysign is my sticking point, we sync details from SIMS. - Does any who uses EntrySign, know if you can the bulk of the data from your MIS and then sycn the Access Tokens from AD? Open to other suggestions/methods. Cheers
  20. What about ICT Directs sister company - Bargin Hardware - https://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/sell-used-hardware Not sold anything as yet, but they could help?
  21. Cannot help with that larger deployment or number of sites but using the controller on a Linux VM will so much easier to update. I’m also using Windows NPS for radius - it is setup using dynamic VLAN assignments, so depending which AD groups the users are in determines which VLAN they use.
  22. Can see you point with having to factor in time for running cables etc - hadn't factored that part in, plus the fibre certification reports.
  23. Have approx. 15 x OM1 fibre runs to replace (either 4 core or 8 core depending on cabinet) - so termination costs would probably be higher than the cost of the fusion splicer. Working on the basis of approx £20 per splice for an external company to terminate fibre runs. (costings from from https://candorelectrical.co.uk/fibre/#:~:text=The%20cost%20of%20a%20Fibre,would%20be%20from%20%C2%A3250. - not done any real in-depth costing for external companies. 7 x 4 core fibre runs - 56 splices = £1,120 8 x 8 core fibre runs - 128 splices = £2,560 Total = £3,680 Cost of Mini 3S Splicer - £2,060 (ex VAT) Eventually I would be looking to run redundant fibres to all cabinets, so the cost would be even higher to get an external company in to terminate the fibre runs. I have used pre-terminated fibres in the past, but due to not know the OM1 runs or lengths it makes more sense to run a length of fibre and then cut to size and terminate. The benefit of having a fusion splicer also means we can terminate when we need to and not wait for availability of external companies. Hope that all makes sense. :-) @PotNoodleTech - how much do you pay for terminations?
  24. Another quick question...... Loose Tube or Tight Buffered?
  25. @RobFuller which fusion splicer did you purchase? Cheers Mark
