  1. Just a quick update - total up to 2,397 now. Thanks for your support if you signed up. If you missed the post first time round, please have a read and have a think... Ben
  2. Hi guys, I have an email with a bunch of address' I want to keep and add to a distribution group. I have created the group - but cannot find any obvious way of adding contacts to it. I know 99% i'm being dumb. A quick step-by-step would be great. As per the title, I am using mail 5 and address book 6 (I preferred the old one if i'm honest) Thanks in advance. Ben (recently converted to mac...and NEVER going back)
  3. Just a quick update from T, thanks to you guys... You are right to assume that some people have signed up as a direct result of you mentioning Save5 on the various forums. A huge, huge thank you to you. Just to let you know that the figure this morning at breakfast was 2,017 and now it is 2,027!!! Thank you. If you have previously signed up to the donor register, you may want to check your details. The system doesn't work effectively if you have changed your name, married or moved address. Please sign up, re-register and/or check your details. So many people mean to sign up but never get round to it, and sadly good intentions aren't an adequate replacement for a heart or liver. Please consider this a gentle reminder - literally 5 minutes of your time has the potential to save 5 lives! Spread the word if you can, i'd love to help as much as I can Ben
  4. Here you go Robz, this is from the front page; Would you take a transplant if you needed one?? If you answer “yes” please register & Save5 other lives because one day someone might be saving your life – your mum's life or your child's life. To date since starting Save5 an extra 2,017 people have now registered as organ donors. My goal before I die is to get another 7,983 people to register so that I reach my target of 10,000. If you would like to join Save5 follow steps below 1. First register - NHSBT - Organ Donation - 2. Finally & Very Important - after registering come back to this site and click on the "Contact T. at Save5" button (just to the left on this page) - confirm your registration & let me have your postal address so that I can send you a Save5 badge. EMAIL ADDRESS save5[at]btinternet.com Only when I have received your email can I then add your name to the growing number of people who want to help Save5 reach its target of 10,000 extra organ donors!! And please don't forget to tell your family that you have become an organ donor. Thank you T. Sandeman-Charles
  5. Nice one kmount - don't forget to let T know so she can up her total Cheers
  6. The eyes seem to be a common one to be honest. Personally, I just think 'I' am gone when I die, so please help yourself to my body parts
  7. Well done that man! I think some people think about it, say they will do it and just never get around to it. I like to think of this post as a wee kick up the bum! Literally 5 minutes tapping at a keyboard. Even if you have signed up before, it's best to check your details. If you move, get married or change your name is screws the system. Double check your info. Thanks again
  8. Hi guys, Before you turn away - there is no money being asked for here! I organised a speaker to come along to my club last night and give a talk, all I can say is wow! As the title says, truly inspirational. The founder of this charity has been dealt 2 terminal, incurable lung diseases. She is making it her mission before she dies, to get an extra 10,000 people signed up to the organ donor list. She is asking for no money, but literally 5 minutes of your time to help save 5 lives in the future! If you decide to do this, then please make sure you visit her website and follow the instructions. If you go direct to the transplant list, her tally does not increase! You still get directed to the official NHS site, but you must email her personally as that is the only way she can know numbers. I know a good few people give blood. I personally may not be here if it wasn't for these people. My mum has had a liver transplant 5 years ago, she would not be here if it wasn't for people on the transplant donor list! This really does make a difference and will affect many lives. If she gets 10,000 people signed up - that is a potential 50,000 lives that can be given, changed or even prolonged (and that's not even counting family, friends that will benefit from extra time with a loved one). No replies needed, just please have a peek at the site and if you want to save some lives, please sign up to the list. The way I see it, when I die i'll just sit in the ground rotting - or I can donate and saves some lives. I know other people will think differently, but i'm not really asking for a slagging match or any flame wars. Cheers guys, Ben save5.org.uk Would you take an organ if you needed one? Most of us would but only 28% of us have joined the online Organ Donor Register. More than 10,000 people in the UK currently need a transplant. Of these, 1,000 die each year – that is 3 a day. Save5 is all about asking people to register online or to check that if they have already registered their personal details are up to date so that in the event of death, their organs and tissue can potentially be used to Save5 other lives.
  9. Now isn't that clever a little thingymabob. I'll be using that for other things, but this form needs to be a printed jobby that goes out to the prospective parents for filling in. I'll just trudge on with word then. Cheers guys
  10. Hi guys, I'm looking to streamline some of the processes here. To start with, the registration and admissions procedure. I want to condense and consolidate the various forms we have into one single form. A lot of data entry error is down to this chaos. I would like to create a form, with little boxes for each letter, all to be capital and blank ink only, that kind of thing. Like an official passport application, census form or anything from the DVLA etc.. Other than the usual office apps, is there anything out there that makes the process a little easier? Cheers in advance Ben
  11. Fantastic. Great. Thanks sukh
  12. Super. Got it working in powershell but it is doing the entire mailbox. Which switch do I use to specify a subfolder called SEN in the INBOX folder? Thanks
  13. That's what I thought, but Glennda doesn't think so. I'll give the powershell a go, but it's not my strong point...
  14. How then? I'm obviously being thick. How can I mount another users mailbox in outlook without either using their password (effectively setting it up as if I was them) or modifying the access rights? Sorry...it's nearly the weekend
  15. Thanks Sukh, I looked at that this morning. Wondered if there was an easier way to be hinest. Just being lazy. I can never get the syntax 100% in the new power shell. I'll just do it that way, makes more sense in the long run. Cheers
  16. Can I do that without the mailbox it's going into password? I know I can give myself full access rights to mailboxes, but how do I then do that in outlook?
  17. Hi guys, I need to move a folder from one teachers mailbox to another. They only use OWA, not outlook so not .pst. Can it only be done in EMC? Cheers Ben
  18. Hi guys, Looking to slightly upgrade some PC's before they buckle under the SQL stuff i'm putting on in a week or so. This is literally a temporary measure until the budget fills up and hopefully the suit will be getting replaced. Machines are about 6 years old with 256Mb in at moment...not great If nobody has anything going spare, i'll order new in a week or so. Cheers in advance Ben
  19. Literally tried that last night, didn't help. I may attempt a platter transplant today, mainly out of interest now! Cheers
  20. Hmmmm. I've had similar situations and actually ended up using the drive for years without failure, damage etc.. Maybe I was lucky hey. I actually did this in an artificial 'clean room' and even wore pretty blue rubber gloves. Cheers anyway. I'll dump it after giving it an even bigger whack with a sledge hammer
  21. Hi guys, I have a 2.5" drive that was dropped from a substantial height. At first, it didn't spin up and just 'beeped' - yes, it actually beeped. I assumed it was a sticky head, physically on the platter. Open the casing, bingo - it was the arm 'locked' into place over the platter. I freed that, gave it some juice and the disk now spins - but the head now flicks about in the normal failed hard drive manner. Flicks to half way, get a clonk and back again a few times. Then the disk spins down. Any chance of getting the data back you think? Anybody got any words of wisdom? Or - maybe I could transplant the platter into a drive of the same make/model? If so - anybody got a Seagte Momentus 5400.6 500GB drive laying about? Cheers guys Ben
  22. It is working OK with Office 2007 though right?
  23. Thanks chaps, exactly what I was after. Anybody else?
