We use (jbloggs) for both staff and students. As highlighted above, it helps with child protection issues (we are an all girls school, but that's not the point). This is their logon name and email address. We have OU's for each year and roll over during holidays. We have overseas students that have a 'preferred name', we use that as the username/email and add their real name as an alias to their email (should a member of staff get confuddled). What do people do with double-barrel (with hyphen or space) and surnames with a ' (O'Neill for example)? If you prescribe to our format, what would Sally O'Neill and Samantha Mee-Stanton have as username/email address?

We use Crashplan from Ceejay - CrashPlan PROe UK Cloud Backup for UK and Europe, Enterprise, Education Users with cloud storage managed and owned by CeeJay Software in the UK. Includes CrashPlan PROe enterprise software. Does the job and is more than affordable - call for educational pricing. -
Cheers. It should be quite easy really. It certainly seems it going through the steps. However, I just want to make sure before I stuff up everybody's email It could well be that the above error message is erroneous and the system would still work... but not that brave (or have that much confidence in MS...) If so, can I just double check some configuration settings please (before I press the button and commit). There doesn't seem to be a way of testing as you go, only once all in place and you've changed mx records etc. 1. Office365 inbound connector (from school exchange). Type - On premises Sender Domain - * Sender IP address - exchange external IP Security - TLS enabled TLS cert name - mail.myschool.co.uk 2. Office365 outbound connector (to school exchange). Type - On premises Smart Host - myinternalexchange.FQDN Scope - myschool.co.uk Security - Opportunistic 3. Send connector configured in on-site exchange (smart host) myschool-co-uk.mail.protection.outlook.com 4. Website DNS MX Host Name - @ Points to - myschool-co-uk.mail.protection.outlook.com CNAME Host Name - autodiscover points to autodiscover.outlook.com TEXT Name - @ Value v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all Is this all right and nothing else to do? Cheers in advance...

Hi guys and gals, Currently looking at what's available for BYOD printing. Everyoneprint currently being tested on server. People with experience of this product, can you choose more that one printer to print to when using 'Mobile Print'? I can only seem to get it to print directly to one, there is no way of choosing from multiple printers (I may be missing it - probably am). Also, what method are most of you using and what are your experiences of it - kids get on with it ok? Do you mainly use email to print? The web portal? Mobile airprint styley? I can't seem to find any costs for it? What is a rough cost, small school, 300 users? Thanks in advance...may have more questions later...

Naughty isn't it. We can't afford to adequately protect our servers so can you please pay for it. I should add, since this email (sent in October) they have also emailed to say it's happened again (last week). Poor show if you ask me. I'd rather not name and shame the people that did our schoolwebsite...

Dear Customer On Saturday afternoon we experienced an intermittent DDOS attack which resulted in some of our websites experiencing slow load times. Our technical team were notified straight away and received a number of alerts regarding large increases in connections and traffic to the sites. As soon as this was identified as a DDOS attack we implemented fail safe measures to ensure that the impact of the attack was kept to a minimum which resulted those sites affected being unavailable for 20-40 minutes. We apologise for any inconvenience caused however this remains our only tool in mitigating this type of attack. ________________________ Moving forwards, although we have already put in place measures to counter an attack (which were used yesterday), they do still have these downtime implications of up to an hour. So as DDOS attacks are becoming more frequent and the perpetrators untraceable, we therefore want to be able to provide all of our clients with the option of protection against DDOS (likely to cost around £500 per annum) that will avoid any kind of downtime. We would therefore like to gauge initial demand for this service. Please email blahblah if this is therefore of interest, along with any questions you might have. Kind regards Support Team

Didn't work for me straight away. Logged in with no error but icons were missing. Had to do a full windows updates (there were a couple of new ones pending) and a reboot. All solved.

Thanks Steve Ha. Well aren't I the div. That wasn't difficult at all. I probably spent longer writing the first post than it would have taken me to do that. Thank you very much. I just tested it on some dummy folders and it seems to have worked. Ben

Sorry, I should have said. I want to keep the newer one.

Hi guys, This is bit of a difficult one to explain. I want to merge two folders including directory structure and files (even if empty). Essentially, I have two copies of one folder (both taken at different times). A straight copy is out of the equation for obvious reasons. Folder1 has 14 root folders (and then child folders and files within those). Folder2 has some of the same folders/files, but also new ones. Basically, folder1 has some stuff in it, folder2 has some too. Can this be done with robocopy? I also want to keep the data that i'm merging from (not move or mirror). If this can be done, can somebody send some example script as I'm knee-deep in work at moment (aren't we all). Start of term sure does creep up you... Thanks in advance... this has been a real dodo of a couple of days!

Maybe i'm just naive, but I thought that's what would happen here. A simple flick of the 'reset account/user' switch.- 11 replies

Office365 - It looks like your account is blocked (ARGHHH)
Ben_Stanton replied to Ben_Stanton's topic in Cloud Services
Well, two weeks later the support guy dealing with my case emailed saying he tried calling me. 4 hours later I got another from his boss, saying; So, I replied with a very curt email saying how i've waited 2 weeks for any contact etc.. Within 30 seconds the support guy phoned. We went through the same process as two weeks ago. He has to email another team with error messages and cannot give me any lead times. Wipro IT Business, IT Services, Consulting, BPO, System Integration, Outsourcing is the outsourcing company dealing with this. I'm not that impressed at the minute (to say the least). I will continue with my install of google apps instead.- 11 replies

Oops. I just prompted a directory sync for the first time. Looking at the logs on my server, it didn't work saying something along the lines of 'account specified not in builtin\administrators group' (even though I gave domain admin credentials). This may have been because I didn't log off/on again. Anyway, just tried logging in to office365 portal and now I get; It looks like your account has been blocked Please contact your admin to unblock it. I can no longer access office365 portal (I am the only admin). Any ideas on where to point my hammer?
