  1. Do you have a link to that Ray? I can't seem to find that forum on the Becta site. Ben
  2. Hi guys, hope you can shed some light... We send out our 'School Calendar' to all students, memebers of staff, parents and others (school bus drivers etc). Now, we have had a change to the powers that be and they have now published the full school roll in this booklet too. So, student names, form, house etc. Is this ok? I'm not too 'hot' on this side of things and lady that normally deals with this (db admin) is off ill for a few weeks. Quick responce would be tony the tiger...greeeeeeat!
  3. Ok guys thanks. Think i'll rename these ones to their asset tag numbers. Will only need to look in excel to vnc. Also, they can be moved from room to room without a problem. I'll slowly bring the other machines in line with the new convention or just wait until they die, then rename when replacing.
  4. Just curious how other schools name their individual workstations. I have been continuing on from my predecessor. They had it setup like this, the computer in the psychology room is called PSY01. The two in Geography are GEO01 and GEO02 etc etc. I have just ordered 22 new machines and am also taking this opportunity to asset register too (none previous - shocker). The asset labels are stabdard foil based 'This belongs to blah blah school' with rolling numbers. Do I stick to the convention or now change machine name to number on asset register?!? Interested how others do it and what problems you see for the above. Ben
  5. Excellent - thanks guys. Not used freecycle before, will give it a looksie! Ben
  6. Can anyone recommend a good company to take away about 30 old PC's and CRT's? Preferably free would be good...or if anybody here wants them for some strange reason. Circa 6 years old.... Thanks, Ben
  7. I have similar, but I wear it at the weekends when i'm Benjamima. You can borrow it anytime from Monday onwards
  8. Surely someone can answer? Cheers...
  9. Or I just need to provide proof that a certain member of staff has accessed a particular folder share and/or file (this excel spreadsheet) ... I don't have audit running. Thanks, quite urgent.
  10. Hi guys, Need to check the full access/revision of a certain excel file. I know I read once there was a utility somwhere that digs deeper into the file to find its true revision history from creation onwards. There was a story that went with it, some official government document that was ripped off from the yanks etc etc and was proven via this method. I can see in properties when it was created, last accessed and modified, but need to go further. Very important file was edited and just need to see who by. Cheers Ben
  11. Anybody?
  12. Hi guys, Delete Message: Reject Message: Quarantine Message: Just curious at what level people are setting their SCL's to? I have mine set to what seems to be blocking the majority of spam, but every now and then it will reject a legitimate email. The next day, from the same address it might accept it... Cheers, Ben
  13. Cheers webman Ben
  14. Oooh, it would be good if there is, i'll check it out If I didn't need airband it would be good but I need to use 2m too. D'oh
  15. Can I TX airband on that one?
  16. Or equivalent triband... Cash ready and waiting... Ben
  17. Despite all of the above, I LOOOOVE it! But then I didn't really migrate from an existing email server. I literally left the old 'mailgate/eudora' shite running as a legacy server. Simply telling everybody it will be there for a year for archival purposes and that is it. As of whateber date, outlook and exchange is what we will be using. Was accepted surprisingly well
  18. Hi guys, Trying to download the MST Hardware Management System but cannot see it on website, even after registering. Assuming it is no longer around, anybody got the download? Cheers, Ben
  19. *Relatively* new and unused 8 tape autoloader (tape library) plus SCSi card and a couple of new tapes. This device really isn't suited for my particular setup so is up for sale. Relatively low mileage based on the fact I have been saving to HDD/NAS temporarily until I sourced a new tape drive (gone with an LTO4). This particular device uses Ultrium LTO 1 tapes (200Gb). You will get the following; *The G2 autoloader unit *SCSi Card (adaptec 39320A) + 3m 50pin Cable *2 New tapes (minimum - if I can find more...) *Drivers/Software Due to the size/weight, pickup is prefered (Hitchin, Hertfordshire). I will be advertising this elsewhere also but first dibs here. Any queries, PM me or txt/call Ben
  20. Thanks powdarrmonkey, I'll crack open IIS and have a looksie in a bit... Surely it's not that simple...
  21. Thanks matt40k, I am trying the following command and using iisreset /noforce after running but external access still asking for FQDN... internal access to OWA fine and logging in automatically using inegrated auth. set-owavirtualdirectory "owa (default web site)" externalauthentificationmethods fba I am assuming it is fba for forms based... can't seem to find full paramaters Ben
  22. Hi guys, Internally, staff use OWA to access email. I am using integrated authentication so once they have logged onto the network, they do not need to retype their credentials when opening OWA. I am also about to set up OWA for external access, but my testing has shown (obviously) that I have to type the FQDN and user details to access OWA (via standard login box, not OWA). This is obviously unacceptable. My query is this, is there a way I can have integrated when internal, and forms based when external? Thaanks in advance... Ben
  23. That was the first thing I tried naturally, but you can only modify 'description' on multiple objects. I'll give aadmodify a go. I have it here, just didn't think of looking. Thanks...
  24. Sorry, I wasn't being clear enough. I want to change the 'departmrnt' field in the 'properties' section of users in a specific OU... Ben
  25. Hi guys, Need to change an intire OU's 'department' to read something else. Is there an easy way of doing so?...other than one-by-one. Sorry if answered before, but tried looking and couldn't find anything. Cheers
