  1. I think it's got something to do with the roles the SIMS user has been allocated. Have you tried comparing the assigned groups with another staff user? Is it a support member of staff - they have to be in relevant groups to be able to view things via the SLG.
  2. We've just gone for a Dell Powervault MD3200i although it's still in the box so can't comment on what it's like.
  3. @dbate I don't think it's possible to link your SIMS with an Office365 Sharepoint site. SLG will only work self hosted or hosted via CAPITA I believe.

    SANs

Never used them but a reseller I was talking too said they were good. Big in the US more than the UK. It wasn't just a sales pitch as I was already committed to buying a Dell SAN after initially considering EMC.
  5. I agree, the majority of such photos will be made available via student public Facebook pages / school websites etc. It's just a different medium for them - if people want to go looking for them they will.
  6. We have just placed an order to replace our existing EMC SAN with a DELL alternative. We currently have 2 hosts with 32GB RAM (can't add anymore), but I would like to another host. I have read that additional hosts must match the existing hardware - is that true in respect of RAM or everything. Ideally I want to make more RAM available so we can virtualise some more servers from physical to virtual. Does it just need to match the same RAM for HA or are we OK to add a new host with 64 / 128GB RAM without any issues? Cheers
  7. Stop panicking, what will be will be )
  8. We just use our network and rip the CD's as MP3's and give the students the option of using the tracked or untracked version. Disabling everything such as the internet / word etc. We then have a generic exam logon that is logged on ready for the start of the exam.
  9. I must admit, I posted the registry hack on the other post and I thought it had resolved it for us but it hadn't. I've upgraded our IE from 9 to 11 - was holding off for the summer and it now works without the additional tab!

    IE Upgraded Tab

It's started to happen here within the last couple of weeks. What version are you running? Heres a registry key for IE9 and I am sure the other versions are similar. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\IE9TourNoShow (a Reg_DWORD with a value of 1 to say don't show it again)
  11. As above we have a web server running cpanel and the accounts are created manually as and when required.
  12. No issues with projectors in our woodwork room - the cookery room with fat and grease cause more problems. I think I would also consider a larger plasma / lcd screen - it may be more expensive initially but cheaper than replacing the projector or getting it cleaned after 3 or 4 years.
  13. I use tweet deck on my mac - the web interface isn't bad either.
  14. We've been a user for 2 - 3 years and love it. They will do you a free trial so you can have a play on your network.
  15. We've not used it, but I liked the look of My Learning Ltd - Virtual Learning Platform provider for Primary and Secondary schools for my partner primaries.
  16. We allow it for staff via the website not the client although we are considering setting up an onsite own cloud server.
  17. Kayako for us here and it ticks all those boxes, but theres a cost involved whereas some of the others mentioned are free.
  18. We bought ours direct but the majority of the resellers I use know and sell the Smoothwall UTM's.
  19. Not sure if it's possible. When we first launched it we made the students request access via our help desk initially then we allocated the licence on a request basis - just to see how popular it was. After a while when we had requests into the hundreds we just rolled it out to everybody automatically and updated instructions to point to the download location.
  20. I guess theres nothing stopping someone choose another students name and getting the answers wrong on purpose. - - - Updated - - - Will take a look. Cheers
  21. My Head of Music has been in asking whether we have a system that would allow us to deliver Multiple choice quizzes to students as homework and would allow them one opportunity and the answers are saved which can be exported to excel. I know this can be done in Moodle but we are a share point school, I can setup Moodle but I imagine it will be a bit of work just to get one department on board. Does anybody have any suggestions what we can use, obviously Google Forms would allow students multiple attempts and they would have to choose their name from a list. Ideally, something where we could import class lists and then each student is sent an e-mail with their link to complete, I may be asking a lot but we would be willing to pay for something if it's reasonably priced and does what we want. Thanks Andrew
  22. Yeah - it was a bit of a pain to package the software up to rollout. So we had to manually install it - so we decided it was a waste of time!
  23. We used to use the home directory web part which worked well until we eventually moved to a Terminal Server for remote access.
  24. We had the issue on a few occasions with Word 2010, but touch word no issues with Word 2013 over the last 12 - 18 months.
  25. It is a bit extreme but it certainly works. Theres around 5 or 6 of us been doing it at work for the last 5 or 6 weeks in our fitness studio after school. I am doing it for fitness others have done it to lose weight. The programme is 6 times a week and one day or rest - we are only doing it twice possibly three times a week max. I've lost 5lbs (down to 10 stone now) others have lost 9 or 10lbs. I am actually enjoying doing it at it certainly helps if theres a group of you to assist with motivation.
