  1. Have you google searched it's ID string from it's device properties in device manager? Odds on if a driver exists that will turn it up.

The games just a complete mess, as it stands. I doubt I'll get round to playing it for a couple of years yet. I'm playing through the backlist from hell at the moment. Hopefully they'd have patched a couple of the bugs by then... (The current state of AC:Revelations doesn't feel me with much hope. Ubisoft!)

What needing a gfx card/cpu/ram upgrade to meet minimum specs? That's big news if true. I'm aware of the typical Ubisoft - nobody bothered to check if the artist add finished drawing the face before release, and Uplay is the spawn of the devil - problems that effect all platforms

I know PC's can give better visuals and all that. But it's one of the reasons I don't game on PC anymore. I know all the games that come out between now and PS5/XBoxWhatEverNumberMSUsesNext comes out are going to play. Probably not fine, but they will play.

Ubisoft. Assassins Creed. Environmental collision detection shot to hell. Is this really news? As no body played previous AC games? I'd almost be disappointed this far into the series if NPCs wasn't half buried in roof tops. This is par for the course. Also, nightmare characters with missing face parts are cool!
  7. I'm trying to get a court order - at least 5 meters in any direction!
  8. The problem is being 100% certaint the old DC is fully cleaned out of DNS in particular but also there are some entries in Sites and Services (I think). Both dcpromo and deleting the AD account is *supposed* to clean it up correctly *but* I have been in the position where it hasn't. I think there are also some command line instructions you can run to clear the metadata in AD as well. It can get very messy, very fast. Seriously, this is your AD - is it really worth the risk of not doing it properly?
  9. If it's a DC I really, really wouldn't. AD is tied so deeply into DNS that one mistake and you'll be fighting problems for months. Been there, done that, not worth it. New name, new IP everytime. (if it's not a DC then generally there are no problems with using the old name and IP).
  10. 100% this. New name, new IP. Make sure DNS entries are nice and tidy. Last thing you want is AD going up it's own ***, so to speak. Give the new server plenty of time to replicate everything from the old then decommission the old DC cleanly with dcpromo.
  11. If you are seeing products they have not bought then odds on the license were bought as part of a wider agreement, probably with the LEA. I'd start there and ask them for a list of licences bought on the schools behalf. Failing that finding out who the licenses were bought from (Phoenix, Pugh, etc) and then asking them for a list.
  12. I don't want to add it up! I started gaming around '86-'87 with £2.99 budget cassette games and magazine type-ins, later Amstrad Action came with full games on covertapes - a kind of precursor to PS+. I've owned several gaming computers and at least one console per generation since SNES, more than once being a day 1 purchaser. Even so far as getting HD-DVD for 360 day one, then selling it all for a PS3 18 months later. To make matters worse I've since gotten into Retro gaming so have a few retro consoles laying around and have spent a bit starting to build a collection. The worse statistics are going to be around 7th Gen music games - Singstar, Rockband, Guitar Hero, Rocksmith. The reason I sold the 360 ad bought a PS3 was so I could import a copy of Rockband 1 with full instrument kit a year before it was released in the UK. The money I've spent on DLC for Singster, Rockband and Rocksmith is very, very, very scary. Rocksmith as been the biggest single layout of any game I've ever bought into. 2 full disc based games, tons of DLC, 2 audio cables and I've bought 2 brand new guitars especially for it. A £350 Yamaha bass and a £600 Paul Read Smith. I'd be very surprised if the grand total of PC's, consoles, games, magazines, peripherals, etc, wasn't in the tens of thousands of pounds range by now. And no I don't regret a single penny or wonder what else it could have been spent on.
  13. I've been playing enough retro games from the 80's recently to know that's been done before, is extremely frustrating, and we should never go back there. Hitman (pre-Absolution) had the best game save/check point mechanic of any game I've ever seen.
  14. To my mind there are two questions. Whats to be gained from upgrading the OS? and is it currently broke? By using this I still have machines running Server 2003, I haven't come up with a good mission critical reason to upgrade them and they are currently working. Your DC's are probably the most obvious likely candidates to want updating first depending on your current client OS and future client OS role out plans. Externally facing servers, web servers, e-mail, etc, probably want updating and patching up to the hilt ASAP just from a security point of view. There might be newer features in Server 2012 for your file servers, SMB v2, FSRM, etc, that might make them worth looking at at some point. SQL servers, I'd go back to the publishers of any software running on them (Capita for SIMS, etc) and ask them for their roadmap, use that as a guide of when to upgrade - again if it ain't broke don't fix it. So really it's back to the very first question - what are you trying to achieve by upgrading the OS?
  15. Live boot CD?
  16. Damn you for editing while I'm trying to be helpful: Cooperative Linux
  17. Is this what you are after? https://www.cygwin.com/
  18. Also, I can't get this song out of my head. Soo good and really catchy!
  19. Absolutely LOVE this band! Got tickets to see them in London next year - YEAH!!!!!!! Anywho -
  20. You need a router, a VM running a linux distro should do, connected to both networks. The default gateway on your router should be assigned to the default gateway of your 192.168 network. The VM's in your 195.168 network should have the 195.168 address of the router as their default gateway. For simplicity you may want to NAT between the two networks.

    dlc in games

Certain AAA publishers struggle to achieve that after a dozen or so post-release patches! (I'm looking at you Ubisoft.)
  22. In the management dashboard for the google apps domain you should be able to select which OU's have access to which google apps. You can restrict the directory to just the OU containing staff accounts.

    dlc in games

I'm happy to pre-order but only on the basis that it's a game I'm 100% certain I want to play. New Assassins Creed or Arkham games fit in to this category. Or something like No Mans Sky or Rime were the trailer hype has intrigued me enough to want to give it a try regardless of the outcome. Games like Shadows of Modor I'm pleased I waited since as time went on it became clear it wasn't the game I was expecting based on early trailers, so not really interested in playing it now. As for Day 1 content. I've no problem with it, even disc locked (got to think of the people with rubbish Internet connections). The only question for me is - is the content required to complete the game? If it is then it really shouldn't be locked away as additional content. If it's something like an extra skin, weapon, map, etc, that has not real impact on the core game - more cosmetic or multiplayer - then I can't see what the problem is.
  24. I think PS+ on PS4 has been pretty good this past year. Personally, given the age of the hardware and the price I pay for PS+ each year, I'd be happy if we only got two "indie" games per month for another year. Still, perhaps they need to do something in the face of the ongoing DriveClube debacle.
