  1. This should do it: Bulk AD Users
  2. A vacancy has just come up here for a full time ICT Support Technician working 37 hours a week, all year round. We are a small secondary school of around 750 pupils in a small village to the south-east of Norwich. Role is predominantly first line support for pupils and staff here at the high school with some off-site work at local primary schools. There's also plenty of opportunity to get involved with bigger IT projects and plenty of exposure to key technologies such as Active Directory, Server 2012, Hyper-V, SAN's, Managed Wifi, etc. For more information feel free to PM me. Application pack can be found here: Vacancies
  3. Personally I think the only real bum story was last weeks - "the moon is an egg". This weeks kind of wimpered out at the end but otherwise was pretty good. Capaldi is spot on as the Doctor. By far the best actor in the role since the reboot. He's gravitas, manner, meanness, etc does lend back to the likes of Hartnell and Tom Baker from the original run, which I like.
  4. 40 years wages at £20k per year plus a spare 200k to pay off all existing debts including mortgage and have a little spare as a slush fund. Of course that doesn't take into account either inflation or interest. That said, I'd quit work and spend the next 40 years doing something I really enjoy and maybe see if I can generate a little extra income from it.
  5. Slightly confused what are you trying to restore from were? You used Windows Server Backup inside the VM to backup the contents of the SCCM C: drive, or you used Windows Server Backup on the host server to backup the VHD that contains the SCCM C: drive?
  6. I thought the idea was to post a link to a video of cute kittens doing something funny or unexpected that no one in their right mind could hold back their curiosity and not laugh at what these cute kittens are doing
  7. Hey now, hey now, don't dream there socks Hey now, hey now, when the world comes in They come, The come, to build a draw to keep em But we won't put them in Crowded House
  8. Not sure if this helps, but what I did here when I wanted to reprovision some thick clients as thin clients was use a simple batch file: :reload mstsc goto reload And set that as the Windows default shell. No explorer.exe, IE, or whatever. If it's a browser based thin client you're after would another web browser like Chrome or Firefox solve the problem? Or maybe use a stripped down Linux install instead of Windows?
  9. Yep, music my parents dragged me up on! Mike Mills sings lead vox on a few songs and has quiet a good voice all things considered. Anyway, I best actually contribute something.... It's the end of the Sock as we know it... Your Sock (Elton John) Socks in Heaven (Eric Clapton) Sweet Socks (are made of these) (Eurythmics) Sock Me Out (Crowded House)
  10. R.E.M. from MTV Unplugged '91. Trust me, if you haven't heard it yet you must be able to find on YouTube
  11. I've really enjoyed this season so far. It seems a bit more grown up and consistent, higher quality like some American Sci-Fi shows of the past. I also really, really like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, by far the best so far of the reboots. He brings a certain serious the show as been lacking. The story writing as also been a lot better than recent series. That said, this weeks story was a bit below par, back to the Mat Smith/David Tennent monster of the week quality. As for scares. The only Dr Who episode ever to scare me was a Peter Davidson one where some people get eaten by a Snake. I've seen it since and can't think why that would have scared me even as a kid. Maybe it was the snowy picture on a 22" CRT that compensated for the god awful special effects? Watching it now and the only thing scary is Martin Clunes acting (the episode is worth watching just for that!)
  12. Clonezilla? Take an image of the physical machine and apply that image to a VM's hard drive? What flavour of Linux are you using. Hyper-V doesn't play nice with non-Windows OS's. I think SuSE and CentOS are the only ones officially supported. Even then I'm not certain latest versions are on the play nice list.
  13. Really need to see some worked examples. My guess would be those IP's full outside the range of the subnet mask, but it's purely a guess based on your description. Any chance of a cleaned up worked example. IP addresses of DNS server, gateway server, effected IP addresses (are they close together in the range?), IP address of storage server, DNS/GW/Subnet setting on storage server, DNS/GW/Subnet being given out by DHCP, etc.? Other guess is more machine related. Have you trued a 'ipconfig /flushdns' on an effected machine? Or reset Winsock?
  14. Where's your DNS server? Does Server 13 have an entry in your DNS? Are clients set to look at your internal DNS server either manually or through DHCP? Those would be the first things I'd check. I changes our IP range over the summer. It might be worth checking Server 13 and see if you made the same silly mistake I did - I forgot to update one or two servers with the new IP details (specifically in my case the subnet mask was too narrow). EDIT: re-read the problem and a thought occurred. Do you have multiple DHCP servers? If so have they all been updated to hand out the correct IP settings? The problem sounds like a DHCP server sending out the wrong DNS or Subnet settings.
  15. ^yep. If it ain't broke don't fix it! (which is why I still have 1 or 2 non mission critical 2003 servers).
  16. Just had a quick play around with virtual desktops. Pretty good. I like the fact that you can switch between programs on different desktops using the taskbar. Moving apps between desktops is very clunky. You need to go into switch desktop view using the taskbar button then use a context menu on the thumbnail of the program to get the move option. Just about every other virtual desktop implementation allows you to drag and drop the thumbnail to the required desktop. On another note the button to minimise all open windows and show the desktop is still there - but hidden! Also going for it risks bringing up the dreaded charms bar since it's hot square activation is in the same area of the screen.
  17. Okay, not a photograph, I grabbed this from the interwebs, but I can't believe it hasn't been posted already! By far the most important tool in the office (next to the kettle - literately):
  18. So far I'm quietly impressed. Using it in place of Win7Pro as my work desktop. So far in day to day use it's hard to see the difference. Star button and menu looks a bit different is as much as I can say, oh and the login screen is from Win8. It's domain joined. All my programs, so far, work (yes inc. SIMS), and folder redirection worked for my desktop. Picked up my Win7 profile settings just fine. No complaints at all. So far.
  19. In the boot image? Only NIC drivers for OS's and machines we actually use. Not had a need for any storage controllers so far.
  20. No they're the Judea's people's front...
  21. Ditto for the Amiga I think we should agree on BeOS (inspired by both) before we reduce this thread into a retro flame war!
  22. Highlander!
  23. Not sure what you're smoking, but I want some (MacOS pre-X was nothing short of abysmal!)
  24. To the back of the class and hang your head in shame! The best OS ever devised by man is, was, and always will be AmigaOS! It's worth pointing out that Windows has had Virtual Desktops for a few years now, it's nothing new - Desktops
  25. Time to blaspheme - having re-watched the film recently - they are way, way, way over rated. The original was quite pants when you go back and look at it objectively. Classic 70's? The Godfather I+II Alien Clockwork Orange Rocky Horror Picture Show One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest The Omen Papillon Logan's Run - possibly? (just as cheesy as Star Wars and Planet of the Apes really) Enter the Dragon The Poseidon Adventure Death Race 2000 (I'm going to have to allow Star Wars and The Exorcist at this rate) Westworld Convoy The Man Who Would Be King ^My pic's from IMDBs 200 most popular 70's movies.
