FACT: Pc's dont Rename themselves Possible answers i can think of are :- 1) a system restore is happening to a time when the pc was name its older name 2) someone is using the NETDOM cmd line utility 3) The "previous" version of windows hadn't been deleted correctly / on a different partition and somehow booted form that 4) Windows backup has restored the pc to an earlier time 5) You may have some software like Deepfreeze / Ghost , changing the pc name to an earlier time

have you checked its not s GPO? move one user (IT Tech)? to the same OU as administrator, gpupdate the pc and login , does the tab appear?

yes will make them faster, Do one and give to a user and see how you get one, We did the same with CQ61's

Without knowing how your smoothwall is setup or further info this is a hard one, Is your smoothwall just a http proxy or used for routing ? is it http traffic? https ? if not what port? if its http traffic can you post the URL logs ? OVH provide VPS servers, popular with minecraft but also popular for hosting nasties.

Katy, out of interest have you tried this test: get 5 laptops put them very close to each other and boot/ log them all in at the same time, note the time it takes to login,, repeat the test with just 1 laptop and note the time to login. repeat test with 10 laptops , I had a very similar issue a few years ago.

on both servers, in TCP properties what are the DNS servers set you use? (there may be more than 1)

can you ping each server using the FQDN ? from each server?

ok the reason i ask about RAM is in my experience when you have low RAM the first thing to stop working is the print spooler, next thing i would try is try one PC / user to print directly to the printer on its IP and not the pcounter port , this will rule out pcounter crashing the spooler

does it happen on all computers? do you have any managed print software (papercut ?) how much RAM is in the pc's / server?

I agree with the above but also I have seen alot of Edu IT'ers go into the private sector, (including myself) the pay in the private sector is simply too tempting

yep it sure does, how many physical disks do you have in total in the SAN 12? yep as long as disk1 holds out (it says imminent failure)

get the serial number of the SAN ASAP and put it in Hp's online warrenty checker ASAP, you may have same day response. or contact who you purchased it from and ask about the warrenty (above method is quicker) RAID 6 allows 2 drives to fail ( i am assuming the disks are part of a different VDISK and all the HDD's are not setup in one giant VDISK) keep us posted !

what RAID level is on your VDISK? is the p2000 covered under support? is the HDD covered under support? when is your last successful backup ?

Is there a website for cheap ski holidays? for my beach holiday we can use , onthebeach.co.uk or lollipop.co.uk and get some good deals but seems there is no similar service for ski trips?
