Netsupport School (how have you set it up?)
andydis replied to Halfmad's topic in Network and Classroom Management
This can be done by pulling the cat5 cable at precisly the Right time or by killing the client32.exe process(which students shouldnt be able to do). To combat this we tried EDULOCK and worked quite well http://www.edugeek.net/forums/edulock/74650-steve21-presents-edulock.html -
warning XCOPY tends to fail (alot) with the error "not enough memory" if theres alot of DATA in my experience, best use robocopy, never let me down.

i know its random but try a different ethernet port 1)on the cisco swicth 2) any other switch? (eek running out of ideas) assuming your pc has no spyware / virii / nastys / enough RAM / network utilization is 99% lol

Yes ok i understand that, does the printer have a Rj45 port in the back of it? I dont really recommend "print servers" as i always find them to be problematic ( someone can correct me if i am wrong as i havnt used one in years), may i suggest a new wireless printer? or network printer?
-
Hi Matt, wifi or LAN?
-
Get a wireless access point and plug it into the switch, would be cheaper. If the wireless is low in signal in another part of the barn you can buy a wireless repeater that will not need plugging in via rj45. Most new printers are also wireless now aswell for easy sharing, if you already have a printer you can share it Via windows networking hope this helps.

my first thought is try an alternative RDP client first to see if that sorts out the problem ( royal tS , remote desktop connection manager) next i would rest all the options back to default on mstsc (in the advanced tab, connect from anywhere), make sure do not use an RD gateway is set. Next i would run some networking tests ( are you on wifi or LAN)? ping , traceroute

i saw this too and would be excited it it means a better deal than EES

BattStats: Display charge level of laptops before login
andydis replied to StueyMonster's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Stuart this is amazing and I have implemented for all my laptops (450 of them), they are all inputted correctly into the laptops.txt and the powershell script runs fine! But I cannot "edit the index.html" to accommodate them all, it only shows the first 30, i have exhausted my knowledge of HTML "tables" , any help anyone? much appreciated. -
crc-ict , I know the area quite well, in fact one of the houses for sale is mine ( but i didnt want to mention because i needed independent impartial responses) it just happens the neighbours put theirs on the market at the same time. Thanks for all your replys, they are excellent, and some of you have are very eagle eyed. and i agree it depends what the buyer wants , it is a buyers market at present. We may rent it out instead( but thats another kettle of fish)

Thanks for the replys so far, really interested in everyones opinion. elseegee: i didnt notice about the double glazing, you must have an eagle eye! Also you wouldn't believe the houses are next door to each other! crc-ict , sorry to hear how much you are having to pay but i suppose thats the market at the minute.

Hello, I was wondering what others use for the call logging software? I have tried spiceworks but dont really seem to get on with it. do you know anything "out of the box" , that has the following features:- 1) is web based for access via any device. 1a) Web dashboard with open calls / network monioring ( ping status's etc) 2) email to auto log call / ticket 3) auto emailer for call / ticket updates 4) auto log call on network event ( e.eg. ping loss, network event etc) thats all really, surprised I cannot find one other than Spiceworks,

lots of malware does this too, check for the normal : startup entrys you do not recognize, unusual services, you could try tea timer from spybot to find out what changes the setting. check your local users passwords
-
yes please set home drive VIA AD not GPO
-
in the GPO user config > windows settings > folder redirection > my documents ( right click the my documents) and properties , under target folder locations , from the drop down list select "redirect to the users home directory" under the settings tab unTICK "grant user rights..." and "move contents......"

try just %homedrive%
