1. We went from X4 to X6 for most programs (with the exception of 1 program where X5 was the current version at the time it was deployed). It was about 3 years or so before we upgraded to the X6 suite.
2. Yep, sysprep should do the trick.
3. Try this: PsGetSid Run it with no parameters (from the command line) and it should give you the machine SID.
4. I forgot to add that I'm running server 2012 (not R2) and HAP 10.1 with the booking system plugin listed under v10 on the download page.
5. If you upgrade to 5.5, just be aware of the following 'issue' with the free hypervisor client: http://www.ivobeerens.nl/2013/10/01/watch-out-with-hardware-version-10-in-vmware-esxi-5-5/
6. First off, Thanks Nick for the brilliant software! Is there any way to to hide user accounts from the 'User To Book For:' drop down list in the booking system? It's just that some of the OUs have template users/test accounts that clutter up the list. Moving the user accounts isn't really an option at the moment
7. Helgoland-Video: Flugzeug rast im Tiefflug über Strandurlauber - News Inland - Bild.de
8. They do....you just need to dive into the temp directory after launching the EXE installer and grab the 2 files in the sun\jre_$version directory. There should be an MSI and cab file (i think) that you need to copy.
9. ESXi 5.1 (the free version) has the option to start up VMs when the host powers up, as well as the option to shut the VMs down when the host is shut down. You could then use Wake on LAN to turn the host on if needed.
10. Have a look at Server 2012 Essentials/2012R2 Essentials as I think this is what replaced SBS.
11. I think this is an apple limitation rather than a meraki limitation (unless apple have changed it recently)
12. There is a setting in group policy that got rid of most of the user profiles (Using Group Policy to delete cached copies of roaming profiles). the few that were stubborn were removed by rebooting and trying again or by using the utility in advanced system properties (Right click computer> manage > advanced system settings > settings (in user profile section)). Others were wiped out in the XP>Win7 process.
13. We went from roaming to mandatory profiles - the only issue was with one user on one of the oldest XP boxes that had about 8 years worth of roaming profiles (don't ask!), but was resolved by nuking all the profiles from that specific machine.
14. At least they can say they have made progress migrating from XP (if they had any XP boxes left!) I wonder if the task sequence completed?
15. Have you tried enabling the GPO setting below: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar Remove common program groups from Start Menu I think this setting also removes the public desktop icons too (despite the name)
16. Not yet, but R* did say that they would be coming "this spring"
17. It is per system rather than per user. Just deployed JRE7 U55 with medium security settings in the control panel. You can use use group policy preferences to create/copy the files to clients.
18. I think I'll have 10 of them. They will make nice heaters for the office!
19. Could it be this? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/o-s-deployment/103042-warning-mdt-2012-issues-ntlm-if-you-allow-apply-local-gpo-package.html
20. This made me laugh:
21. Have you updated the remote desktop client? From the screenshot, I'm assuming you are using Win7 - try this update: Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 8.0 update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
22. You can get the KMS host key from the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center. If I was you, I would install this update: Update adds support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 clients to Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012 KMS hosts and put the 2012R2 KMS host key in (as this will activate everything from Vista/Server 2008R1 to Windows 8.1/Server 2012R2).
23. With the double cash/rp event yesterday and Friday I'm guessing that due to the volume of documents Martin had delivered this weekend he will need to find a bigger house.... Anyway, the high life update should be out this month according to R*
