  1. It can be a royal pain in the backside. I certified in it a few years ago and realistically I'm the only one in our team that knows it inside out. But we wouldn't be without it. With regards to drivers, yes they are the bain of anyone life who has to deal with OS Deployment. What I do is when we have a new model of anything is build it using whatever OS we will be using on it (normally the same as the OEM OS it ships with) then after the OOBE make sure all the drivers are up to date with the latest then use a little utility called Double Driver. Extract all the drivers to your OSD driver storage location. Add them to SCCM and create a driver package. Then add in a new Driver package step to the MDT based on the machines model name from WMI query. Bosh. All drivers sorted for that model.
  2. Ideal, will hopefully bin it next month then!!
  3. Possibly. We removed access to BYOD facilities when the kids starting downloading proxy apps to bypass the filtering. It would probably cause issues in other schools with BYOD in use.
  4. You will need to specify we use sslfilter.staffproxy.swgfl.org.uk:8080 for staff and sslfilter.swgfl.org.uk:8080 for students. The filter does not work on transparent.
  5. +1 for cloudmigrator365 I think we paid £4 per mailbox but it was brilliant. Unlimited data transfer also. Fantastic bit of kit. We moved 4 primary schools from Google to Office365 this tool allowed us to change the users mail domain also during the migration to 365.
  6. I like the look but can justify the massive cost! My MacBook Pro 13" retina has everything I need!
  7. Seen that last night. Glad it wasn't available in the UK at launch!!
  8. The pricing is disgusting. Shame as I really wanted a portable mac. I'll make do with my desktop hacintosh with i5, 32GB Ram and 2x500GB SSD's. They can ram it at those prices. I fear Apple are going to regret it.
  9. Sweet! Cheers for the heads up. Will make life a lot easier.
  10. You can save an RDP file and use rdpsign.exe to associate a very to it as others have said for it not to error about the domain it will need to be a cert for the external domain. We sign ours with a wildcard cert. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc753982.aspx
  11. We are all in house for our MAT. However we do have a retainer with a big MS partner if we should need it. It also allows us access to MS courses at a reduced cost. This helps us become MS certified ourselves to improve in house skills
  12. +1 for Aruba also. We have Aruba at one school and Meru at another. Aruba has the better performance.
  13. Looks like it has enterprise features https://workplace.fb.com/faq/
  14. Workplace by Facebook has been opened up for use now. Free for education also. Introducing Workplace by Facebook | Facebook Newsroom https://workplace.fb.com/ Looks like it wants to take on Yammer.
  15. We have also binned Frog this year and gone to Google. Office365 for mail and a few sharepoint form workflows. HAP also for students and staff.
  16. Microsoft Press have also released Introducing Windows Server 2016 a free ebook https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/microsoft_press/2016/09/26/free-ebook-introducing-windows-server-2016/
  17. It looks fantastic. Especially the camera being mounted in front of the blades so they don't get in shot. Just a shame the features don't live up to much!
  18. I've been holding out for this. Disappointed to know that it's not waterproof or water resistant at least. No follow me. Also have to buy hero 5 camera if you want the camera to stay waterproof. The GoPro 4 mount is separate at £29.99 but cannot be used in a housing to keep it safe from rain. Gutted!!
  19. I think they are be default. Just tested mine and it does not display on an external email.
  20. EE now do similar. If you take out their maxi plan at £65.99 a month you get the latest iPhone each year. Straightforward swap out
  21. 32GB as the entry level didn't quite sit right with me. I wanted the 7+ and with the camera specs now I had to go with the 128GB. Luckily I'm currently on a Sim Free contract with EE. However I waited in the queue for my turn to pre-order with them. NOT A CHANCE! £129.99 upfront then £60.99 a month was their cheapest plan. Ended up ordering direct from Apple. Obviously has to buy outright but works out cheaper in the long run. I only pay £20 a month currently to EE for unlimited calls and texts and 10GB data. The prices really gaw me but suppose that's phone companies as well as Apple at fault here.
  22. I made the mistake of buying the 16GB iPhone 6 when it was released. Fed up now with it telling me I'm low on storage. Glad they got rid of 16GB but I suspect the new entry level 32GB will be in the same position in a year or so. So it looks like 128GB is the safest bet. Excited for the new + dual camera. Having never owned any of the + models before I'm sure I'll get used to it. Now the decision is either the Jet Black or the normal Black. Both same price for 128GB! Decisions decisions! Also gusted I was to impatient and bought the watch last year. Wish I had waited now for series 2 with it being waterproof!
  23. iPhone 7+ it is then! happy with that! Can pre-order from 9th Sept.
  24. Apple Special Event is moments away! Anyone else sat waiting for it to start or have those days long sailed?
  25. I've only recently added our .sch domain to our Office365 tenant. Before then it was just multiple .org.uk and .co.uk domains we own. We have the education subscription since we signed up.
