No, you have to go into the ESS renewals portal, click on your school, then follow the process until the option to talk to someone about the contract appears. You then send a message to them and they'll call you.

Note, that price is only for the software. You have to provide your own storage on top. We use the built in Boxafe backup on QNAP NAS's for our Google backup at the moment. No extra cost on top of the NAS itself.

The main reason people use both SIMS and FMS is that the 2 link together for personnel stuff - ie. salaries and the like are automatically pulled into FMS from SIMS. I believe there's some forecasting stuff for it too. But it isn't a necessity, just a nice to have.

We appear to be suffering with a glut of devices at the moment where the number keys stop working except for number 5 and 6. Hardware resetting doesn't seem to do anything (Hold refresh, press power while the device is off, once on, release refresh). Power washing does. The device seems to be happy after a power wash, but not for very long. It can be as short of a time as us testing it and its fine, hand it over, they go back to their classroom and try it and the keys have stopped working again. Anyone else had this? Any ideas on a proper resolution?

The money we pay to ESS is yearly maintenance, not support. There's a separate cost for support on top. In our case, we pay our LEA for this.

Yes, ChromeVox is enabled (little icon visible in the bottom right says Chromevox Enabled). But the ChromeVox bar at the top isn't enabled. If I enable Select to Speak in the Chromebook Accessibility settings, I can get it to speak stuff I select by pressing the search button and S, but the stuff built in to Google Docs, under the accessibility menu does nothing. If I turn on the Chromevox stuff fully - (Ctrl Alt Z), the options in that menu still don't work.

I am trying to get the built in text to speech working in Google Docs on a Chromebook but for the life of me I can't get it to work. I have enabled Screen Reader support in Tools -> Accessibility, and the accessibility menu is now visible. However, if I select some text and go to Accessibility -> Speak -> Speak selection, nothing happens. I've checked that the Text to speech stuff works in settings, and it all works fine. I've also tested the whole Chromebook reading stuff per https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/9032490?hl=en-GB but this reads everything, and not just the content of a page. What am I doing wrong with this?

Server updated to 1.7.0. If you're using GD Launcher, it seems to once again mangle updating packs. Had to install the pack anew. If you do, open the instance folder and copy the local folder from the old to the new to keep your map.

Yeah, we've got issues with it dropping and showing "reconnecting" all the time. Thought it was just one odd user first, but its spread to others now.

As far as I can see, this would come under Google's "Context-Aware Access", which is only available in the paid versions it seems. So, if we were to go down the CE route, we'd end up having to license Google Workspace Education Plus.

So, LDAP sync has all run fine. All my users are in the system now. SAML is set up against Google. I followed the instructions for creating a SAML app in Google Workspace, downloaded the metadata file and uploaded it into Snipe-IT. Then set the Entity ID, ACS URL and SLS URL per the info on the Snipe-IT SAML page. I have also added debug=true to the SAML Custom Settings so I can try and figure out what's going on. The legal requirement is that schools provide appropriate filtering and monitoring on their networks. This allows some leeway in how you actually do it, and allows for you to do your own risk assessments. Eg. What are the risks involved with a guest device that's not being SSL inspected? Are children likely to see what's on the device? I'd hazard that if I were doing that risk assessment, I'd not be SSL inspecting visiting Ofsted devices tbh. The risk is very low.
