  1. Does anyone use Cubase 10 or 10 pro on PCs in school. We have Cubase 10 pro in our Music IT suite and are having issues with the sound output cutting out, clicking or hissing.
  2. Hi all, A couple of my colleagues this morning were trying to show word documents during their teams sessions. Powerpoint documents can be shown but Word documents aren't recognized Any ideas?
  3. I've still got one of these in the loft in its original box and owned it since I was 14. Maybe I should ebay it at some point..
  4. Were an LEA school so all of the communications has gone via one of our Assistant heads and someone at the local authority. They lowered our original allocation number but I think the devices have now been ordered. I might or might not be the delivery contact!
  5. I know you're not keen on using a personal email address, but one of the reasons they are looking at doing this via personal emails is if you leave and they close down your email address, they will still be able to send you a payslip. I'd have no issue with payslips being sent to my personal address. You could always setup an email address just for the payslips, say [email protected]
  6. Do they want it for emergency contacts or for an automated payroll system etc?
  7. Someones about to get a ton of marketing leads :-(
  8. In Bristol we use a company called Spirolux and they work with a lot of schools as well as professional theaters, they have also taken over our PA system which had a lot of issues with hissing and volume control. I couldn't recommend them enough. They're very good and don't overcharge or sell anything that you don't need. https://www.spirolux.co.uk/
  9. I have had the "another software install is in progress" message on Windows 10 1803. I closed the Win32 installer on the task manager and installs worked fine after that
  10. Our caterers offered to supply their own PC and they used a mixture of Open Office and their own office 365 license. We supplied the PC in the end so we could support them IT wise and it has a copy of our Office software on it. As the school own the PC and treat it as a school computer which is on our asset register we install our software on it if needed. In terms of who using a school computer, we also have outside agencies using our computers along with agency teaching staff so we couldn't say outsiders can't use our computers for licensing reasons.
  11. I'm surprised others are having issues with Cunninghams support. I've found them to be ok and a lot better than another provider I worked with in the past. They are usually open to negotiation on price and my local engineer is pretty good too. If you have outside caterers working for you they can often help with any pricing issues and may have more "clout" with some providers if you're stuck trying to get an issue resolved.
  12. And this is a technological issue why? I would say ask the member of SLT who manages duty to send compulsory calendar reminders. Obviously you will offer to train them in how to do it :-)
  13. You think this is bad? I came home and found my entire driveway had been dug up! The house was 10 years old but the land outside hadn't been adopted by the local authority. The demarcation strip on my drive was in the wrong place apparently so they dug the whole thing up while I was at work. The driveway guys were apologetic and said they were going to relay it the next day and could I leave the garage door open so they could finish it. It was all sorted in the end but i'm glad I didn't need access to the garage behind.
  14. Was it done by an outside MSP that the LEA or someone wanted to oust?
  15. I'd love a WEEE skip or bags which were collected when full. Does anyone do this in the Bristol area?
  16. Looks like they weren't "doing you proud" with the good honest customer service down the road
  17. To be honest most of the schools who want to keep emails under control have setup rules which prevent the sending of emails outside of school hours, but only allow it to certain staff members. I have also worked in a place which only allowed all staff emails to SLT and some HODs.
  18. Yeah SALTO is great. It's pricey to start with but when you look at the cost of issuing physical keys, dealing with loss of keys and security management/lockdowns etc in a school then its well worth the money. If you're retrofitting an older building, work with your site manager and see if there is a small wing or block you could "SALTO" first and then SLT can see the benefits of the system and hopefully be persuaded to fit out the whole site.
  19. I remember in one place I worked they would try and re-suite the whole site, run out of money so 80% was done. Facilities tried to finish the job but the locks were discontinued so they bought another set of matching locks, changed 50%, run out of money. So in the end I had a bunch of 16 keys with no logic to the suite, one just had to look at the lock on the door and take a guess as to which key it was! We've got a SALTO suite in my current place, I feel I take it for granted now.
  20. I'll take a look. The student logins don't have recycle bins, but there could be a hidden recycler folder
  21. that doesn't seem to reset properly either. I have kept my students network drives on the old system as some of them need it increasing for music/media. But in the future I will set it up with different space banding such as "students of Media" "6th form students"
  22. Hi there, I've got file servers still running 2008R2 data center. I have quotas setup for students and staff using the old fashioned way of setting a quota on the whole drive from my computer/properties I've got the issue where once files are deleted, the quotas aren't reset or recalculating. I have tried running a couple of commands in command prompt to reset the scan the quotas and that doesn't seem to make any difference. I am planning to replace the file servers soon but in the meantime has anyone got a fix to recalculate the quotas that works for 2008R2 DC?
  23. Hi all I'm trying to set Outlook 2016 as the default mail client for all users via group policy. On some PCs Outlook is the default and for others (typically those who want to do mail merges) Windows mail is the default and due to our group policies, I'm not able to change the settings via their logon. I'm trying to import an ADM template I found online which is supposed to set this as default but with no joy. Has anyone cracked this problem and can please give me some tips? J
  24. My previous school we used 3 random digits after student and staff addresses. You therefore couldn't tell if it was student or staff or accidentally recycle :-)
  25. That's true. To be honest if CBF was to get involved (CBF's have in the past become involved with incidents involving dependent children) then you would have to hand it over.
