  1. how can they sell software, when they know fine bloody well, it is not working. i personally hate RM with a passion. have they given you the right software package for server 2003 and not for any other OS? in other words it def goes on a server and not a client?

  7. Hi We need to set-up VC at the school and we I am a little new to it in an educational environment. I have been in touch with Video Nations and global-leap. Does any one have experience with VC or any of the 2 companies I have just mentioned? I have been told by our local CLC to stay clear of global leap, but they didn’t give me any firm reason not too. Any advice would be great Cheers Kev

  10. Hi at my place i have fiber optic backbone between the main data cabinet and cabinets around the school i would def do what the 1st contractor suggested; yep its only 6pc but you may need to expand in the future, pluss with multi media getting larger as multi media technology advances you def dont want to have cat5 carrying the data. pluss the fault tollerence is 0 with fiber optic. pluss how old is the school the old lighting can really cause huge problems. not to bad for couple of computers communicationg but any more than that you prob experience problems in the future as you may expand. i agree with cybernerd on the what he says; i guess its 50/50 i would think ahead and look at the forcast a head...are you gonna expand further??
  11. when setting up a wireless printer. do you configure the printer to talk to the desired access point and can you set it to connect to more than 1 access point? if not then im going to stick to good old ethernet cat5 conx
  12. we have 3 rooms fitted out with wireless access points. 3 x 3com access points running on 802.11n per room 30 laptops so 10 laptops per access point in a room i wonder if it would be possible to wright a script that detects wat access point the laptop is connected to and make a decision which printer to set as a default or make available. the other problem is i dont think i have any spare ports in one of the cabinets
  13. hello happy people, just a guick question. we have a mobile classroom (which i hate with a passion) that we use around the school. i have been asked to buy a wireless printer to sit ontop of the trolley. 1. Do anyone have experience with this setup? 2. would it be better to install an extra Network point for the wireless classroom trolley, and have a Network printer sat on top and connect to a point in the wall therefore reducing wireless network traffic on the access points. it would be nice to be able to just take the trolley to a classroom that already has a printer and some how have the laptops automatically pick up which area there in and print to that printer only. a teacher did suggest that i allow the laptops to print to any printer and let the kids select printer in the are there in.. hahahaha i dont think so! 8) any ideas or suggestions just looking at wireless printers and my god are they costly! cheers my fellow edugeek community
