  1. hi leco we are also on YHGFL here you will need to speak to the yhgfl people to set up a reverse proxy for your exchange server so that the staff can use outlook web access from home. why do you think you will need more licenses for office? if you require full remote desktop access then you can get a cryptocard fob from yhgfl and you can use a cisco vpn VirtualPrivateNetworkInstructions < YHPublic < TWiki has a picture of the cryptocard and a brief explanation of the vpn it self. it does cost money though our staff use owa and frog vle to access files. but i like to have rdc to the servers
  2. or 1024 x600 on my netbook i had to scroll also. firefox nerd zone are you sure about the name? hope you take all our comments in a good way we are not ripping you to pieces.
  3. 'wedsite under construction sorry being petty looking good 'blue scree of death' 'the fist step' 'computer take long' does not sound correct missing an s i think also itune mght need an s too quite a few spelling mistakes mate you might want to look at that

  5. Backup Exec 12.5 with sql Add on Backing up the full cmis+sims (yes running both at the moment as 2 years with serco did not work out) backsup to Negear ready Nas 2tb also backup to tape as im kinda paranoid backupforAll to copy userdata to nas great for quick access to recover the kids stuff when the delete everything. (yes i know robocopy but it was dirt cheap and does a great job) never failed us Frogserver just use ntbackup to the Nas NTbackup for the exchange server + a ghost image of the server ready if needed running it on an old Dell GX60 with 512mb ram 300gb HD no raid or resilience hence the ghost image. Thats about it. but the whole backup system is in need of a huge overhaul i need to spend some money.
  6. i would have all your aps on different channels unless they are very far apart to stop interference to test this turn off all the APs except the one closest to you and try the startup login procedure on the lappys do you have a speed difference? the reason i say this is because i had 3 dell APs here all setup correctly different channels etc plug 2 in on the network all is well fast connections etc plug three in and the whole wireless network slowed down to a crawl displaying the symptoms you described in your first post. slow logons over a minuite to download a 1 meg profile sluggish performance. worth a try mate. keep it simple test each AP on its own to see if one is causing a problem. ah well thats my 2 pence worth. i better get back to trying to install corel draw x4 on 20 laptops but the installer makes the laptops BSOD thats impressive.
  7. thats good have you tried a firmware update recently on the AP's it might help the time seems a little long for a logon have you tried changing the AP's channel to see if that speeds things up try netstumbler on a laptop and see exactly what wireless signals are around your area. you might have some rogue ap http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/ glad the .reg fix helped
  8. teacher workstations are desktops here, Locked down so they can not install anything. They are all the same one image fits all They seem more stable, harder to steal its cheaper to replace a broken flatscreen/keyboard on a desktop.
  9. hey bluetooth you get locked in the broom cupboard Its been a long two mins
  10. did you get anywhere with this bluetooth?
  11. wireless g netgear wg302 no one was in the building and it was painfully slow (hence the give up) i just use clonezilla now and whack in a cable it is much easier
  12. ghost over wireless is a pain i tried it once then give up
  13. i had the same problem with some dell laptops a while back i did this to cure my problem on each workstation Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue"=dword:0000003c this fixed it for me dont know if it will help you but it is worth a try wirelessfixreg.rar
  14. cleaned the office (a little) i discovered a floor after moving the broken laptops and empty toners. i even got the vac out the sound of screws beeing sucked up was worrying but you aint done a good job unless you have a few screws left over.
  15. are you wanting the script to deny access to a machine for certain users? if so then the gpo way mentioned above is the way i would go. 2pence worth
  16. round2it

    Netgear NAS

the readynas is great no problems at all. we got one in a hurry to replace a terrastation that failed all the time.......biggest pile of c**P ever struck lucky with it as for the disc format i can not help as it has always worked without fail never had the need to take them out.
  17. Watermark software, Freeware used to make digital watermarks to your images. try this one it is free
  18. Sorry did not realise i have just tested the site and works ok for free im sure others will have an alternative
  19. Free Watermark. Add Custom Watermark. Protect Your Photos and Images - PicMarkr i was going to try this service
  20. oh yes face slap time:doh:
  21. clonezilla works well with d610's here no issues you can not clone a 80gb drive onto a 40gb drive even if you have only used say for example 5gb in the image. i have been bitten with that once so i always make sure i clone the machine with the smallest HD.
  22. ok the vital piece of information falls into place
  23. well it is another "well thats just weird" moment to add to the list of fixes why does it work for others glad you fixed it and sorry i was not much help.
