So some iPads pick up the settings no problem, and some don't. No way of checking on Lightspeed whether it's going to work or not. Have to manually check the iPads for the profiles. No real troubleshooting steps to try to get it to work. Same settings applied to all iPads on Lightspeed, different results across different iPads. Have you had any joy with rolling out Apple Classroom?

We do have a disclaimer, but it's automatically added to all outgoing emails, with no option to disable it given to users... I'll see if I can add an exception for certain accounts. Thanks for the heads up!

Anybody having their Office 365 emails rejected as spam by btinternet.com addresses? Our Head sent out a few emails over the weekend to governors with btinternet email addresses, and got a reply stating that 'btinternet.com suspects your message is spam and rejected it'. Nothing in the email would make it seem like spam (multiple lines, sensible subject, no attachments), so other than asking recipients to whitelist our domain, I'm stuck for ideas.

Isn't it just the small screen that's at 720p, and when attached to a TV using the base station, it produces 1080p at minimum? Would be very surprised if the Switch had a worse resolution than the WiiU...

If this is the amalgamation of Nintendo's home and mobile consoles, then one word will guarantee this console is a success: Pokemon. If the plan is to shift the Pokemon franchise (and Monster Hunter for that matter) from the 3DS to the Switch, the sales alone from those two games, along with the big hitters such as Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, should near guarantee a success. I don't think Nintendo is after the Activision/EA/Ubisoft gamer market, or even the mass multiplayer market. Its always seemed that Nintendo prefer local multiplayer over internet multiplayer, and the Switch is the culmination of that idea, a console that you can take with you, that has two controllers 'built in' and can easily link to other consoles. What would really help would be if another games developer took the Switch as seriously as Nintendo will. I'm thinking like Rare did with the N64, and create some fantastic games that rival the 1st party ones in popularity. My fingers are crossed for Atlus, but that's probably just wishful thinking

I've got the same setup as @foofighterjim and it's working fine. Did have a headache getting RM and Smoothwall to talk to each other, though once I got two engineers (one from RM, one from Smoothwall) talking to each other via email, things went through a lot quicker. If you explain what you want, and stick to it, you'll get there. As already stated, sometimes your line manager is the best person to talk to get it sorted.

Glad to hear it One question, is there a quick way to assign iPads to students? I've having to manually go into each student and assign them an iPad, which is a bit time consuming when I've got another 64 or so to go through! I want to like the Lightspeed MDM kit, but some of the design decisions leave me baffled...

I can confirm it all works with Aerohive. Once I removed all the firewalls on the iPad SSID and subnet, the Staff iPad picked up the Student iPad straight away.

Cool, so I'm not totally off base. I do wish the Lightspeed instructions had been a bit more informative, you've been far more helpful! Sadly our network coverage is appalling, so no 4G for me. I might try taking them home tonight to see if I can get them working over the holidays. It was my understanding that they were meant to talk to each other using Bluetooth? I'll see if our Wifi (Aerohive) is blocking anything it shouldn't be. The lack of information from the iPads makes troubleshooting so difficult...

Can't get the Classroom app to install on the student iPads. Just sat in Missing Apps... Or it is installed, and I've got the same problem you have and the two iPads won't talk to each other over wireless.

Will do Getting the hang of how Lightspeed works. Just updating the student devices to 9.3.5 so that Classroom will install...

Definitely feel that I've missed out on some training somewhere along the line as I'd never seen the admin tools part before! Going to either have to remake my groups using that, or maybe make my existing groups into sub groups... Still, definitely further along than I was, and got some testing to do

Odd, as I've found Lightspeed MDM unbearable: clunky and with no ability to do things en mass (like add apps to a group in bulk, or add iPads to a group in bulk) so I'm wondering if I'm lacking some training, or it wasn't setup right from the beginning...

These are the stages I've gone through so far: Enabled Apple Classroom at the top level and on all groups Created a staff user, and made it an admin of the student groups (and an admin of staff groups for good measure) Assigned the iPad to that member of staff Created a student user Assigned an iPad to the student user Resynced Apple Classroom on the groups, and resynced the staff iPad.

No, the classroom app complains it doesn't have the right configuration. I can see the Classroom certificates have installed under the Lightspeed profile on staff devices, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot from there.

Looks perfect for my gaming habits, but I'm not sure if it'll catch on or not... Still, pretty innovative again from Nintendo. Just not sure if Skyrim (a 5 year old game, albeit with a reasonable recent remaster) would be up there as a killer app.

After an afternoon of I haven't looked at it since. Lightspeed support haven't exactly been supportive on this either, which is unusual as they've been pretty good upto this point. Not been impressed with Lightspeed for MDM at all so far.

Worth looking at my watch, a LG Watch Urban (LG WATCH URBANE) though it has reached end of life software wise, it ticks off all your main points, and the first two of your would likes. - - - Updated - - - Though the heart rate monitor is a one time snapshot, rather than a constant check, so I've never really used it.

My advice would be to get it installed and switched over the summer holiday, even if it means you're paying for the old service and the new service at the same time. If there's any mistake/illness/communication error that means the switch can't happen over the October half term, you'll be without internet, whereas if it falls through over the summer, you've still got the October half term to fall back on. Otherwise it looks good, though be sure what groups you want the web filter to pick up on, I'm assuming Active Directory groups, but just make it clear how you want it to work.

We're on the Mobile Manager preview for support with Apple Classroom, but despite my best efforts, I can't get it working... Anyone managed to get Lightspeed and Apple Classroom to play nice?

I seem to be doing a lot of necro thread raising lately, but did anything come out of this? I assume not as SIMS 8 hasn't been released yet, but thought I'd ask

The only reason I can think of for a parent address already being in the system is if they are still active on another school's SMHW. We've had that with primary schools that use SMHW, or if a student has transferred from another school which uses SMHW, and then tries to register here. It's a rarity, but could explain it. Otherwise I have no idea!

Glad we're not the only school having issues with SMHW this year, though previous years haven't been anywhere near as bad. Our particular issue was that they changed the login details for students from a Pin# to enforcing use of our RM Unify, which would be fine, if we could change the login page that's printed to indicate they needed to add the school email address to the end of their username... Or if they had told us they were going to do that. Or if they had just left well enough alone. Or if they could have let us download a .csv file of students and pin# so we could do our own login page, which we did last year. Combined with numerous calls from parents saying that their pin# didn't work has meant I've had to hand create a fair few usernames and passwords for SMHW this year, and still getting them now. Thankfully our link to SIMS seems to have worked well enough, though we are now getting duplicate parents, which is causing one or two headaches.
