It's less cloak and dagger than that...They all have Macs in the office, and all staff use them. With VMs for windows testing. The Windows boxes get less testing and stress use, therefore the versions are less well thought out. The same is true of MS office for Mac, but obviously the other way round....but just as irritating ;-)

I'd set the sites up as two distinct sites in AD sites and services - then you can be assured that authentication will happen to the closest DC based on the IP information. reducing the potential bandwidth across the link. Also DFS-R is what you're looking for rather than DFS. and it's included in standard server, doesn't require enterprise. If your domain functional level can be set to 2008 you can take advantage of a much improved DFS version than the old 2003 version - should be a performance improver.

Is he still using a CRT? Photosensitive epilepsy is much less likely to be triggered by an LCD, and obviously the higher refresh rate the better. Although it doesn't sound like that's what he's struggling with - are their fluorescent tubes in that classroom? Might be those, but a lack of focus due to looking at the screen that's causing the issues? Although an anti-glare screen may help?
