Hello everyone, I asked this question over on RM Communities, but I thought I'd cast the net a bit further. I was wondering if anyone is running System Center Config Manager (2007 / 2012) on a CC3 network? If so, any gotchas or issues you can share on its deployment? The consensus over on RM Communities is that its a bit overkill for running on a CC3 network, but I'd be really keen to use Forefront Endpoint protection instead of Symantec AV. Hey folks, Our school is due to go live with Pearson Fronter in the summer. I'm looking at introducing an operational policy on the content types that are generally accepted on a hosted VLE. I was just wondering what, for those of you who use a hosted VLE, permit to be uploaded to it, given that bandwidth and space is a commodity often at a premium? For example... Do you have maximum / minimum file sizes? Do restrict certain file types? How often to you administratively audit content on the system (assuming, usage stats are available)? Do you encourage certain types of content to be stored locally (within the network) to conserve bandwidth? Do you encourage linking to youtube videos as opposed to downloading and then transferring to the VLE? Any other thoughts on the matter are greatly welcome. Jay

Yeah, I've played about with POP / IMAP features. Can see how it benefits the user experience, except for a common interface. RM Eaymail is not a great product. We have many complaints about it here, manily due to performance. In contrast though, the cost-benefit is quite reasonable. I would very much like to look at moving to exchange in the near future, but I am curious as to those who Fronter as their communication platform, how they find it, what they like and don't like about it, and how it compares with the cost. Hey folks, We've just gone on board with Fronter, and are due to go live in the new session. There has been some talk about full adoption of Fronter for communications services (email, calandering, contacts, etc) in place of our current messaging system (RM Easymail). I'm not so keen on the idea, as I have no evidence that Fronter email would offer anything better than we already have (other than a common interface), and I'd be far more supportive of using a better, purposed built messaging system. I was wondering if anyone has adopted Fronter as their messaging system, and what your opinions of the system are, from an operational (technical and educational) and financial perspective. Are you gaining or losing anything with Fronter, as opposed to purpose built messaging systems like Exchange, Kerio, MDaemon (and RM Easymail, to a lesser degree)? Any thoughts on this would be greatly received. Jay

Hey folks, Can anyone advocate a good, feature packed ADSL Wireless Router, that support proper VPN passthrough? Last night, i confirmed that my Linksys WAG320N does not properly support VPN passthrough (see below, how I confirmed this), which has had me tearing my hair out for weeks trying to connect to our Smoothwall AF VPN. I was looking at the Netgear DGND3700 (N600), but reviews are mixed to saty teh least. One feature I like about the DGND3700 is the VPN Gateway to gateway feature which might come in handy. Hey folks! I need some pointers / guidance / solutions / anything, this WOL thing is really bustin my n*ts. In an attempt to get on the 'Green IT' bandwagon, I'm looking at the possibility of shutting machines down every evening and waking them early in the morning, ready for use. I spent 3 days auditing the networking hardware across the domain, considering what NICs are WOL capable and which aren't. So, the ones that are WOL capable, are sorted in the BIOS. However, I find that the there is a particular setting in the Advanced Settings tab of the device properties that is really ruining my day. I tried the following script (which I picked up from another post here), to use WMI to 'theoretically' enable the settings that Power Management needs to get things moving.... Same here matey - EasyMail Sucks big time. Anyways, I find if you set your smtp to post. and make sure that smtp (basic - clear-text) authentication is on, it should work. Let me know how you get on. Jay

I have a 32Gb version, with the Dock...and I absolutely love it. For the first week or so, I thought I'd regret it, given that the Samsung GT 10.2 is so much thinner, but having the extra MicroSD slot, the HDMI output, etc - its a winner hands down. I also viewed an youtube comparsion between the two and again, comes out on top in many categories. I've had it for over a month now. It's rooted, running a custom ROM and overclocked at 1.6Ghz (ondemand) stable. Battery life is fine (even better if you've got the dock), and if i want to surf via 3G, I just tether it to my phone which has all I can eat data. Magic. Any specific questions, fire them this way!
