Sounds like your Timetable Cycle has been changed and has not been sent to SQL from NT6, with appropriate start/end dates. I suggest that this is done - you define the cycle as part of the send. Also, ensure that your start and end times for the timetable are correct. Once sent then you must Apply the Timetable after the transfer of the cycle. One also assumes that your Pastoral Promotion has been set up correctly as well as, should you require it, your Academic Promotion rules.

NovaT4 is/was a Capita product and, although it is no longer supported, surely you have to be a customer or ex-customer to be able to use it? (Unless you have been given it as part of the Africa initiative!) All I can say is that I still maintain NT4 from NT6 for my own very specialised use. I don't advise others to do so! Hence, if I did still want to use NT4 Cover (which I don't!) then I could do so. The free staff are all available automatically from the timetable! It does still work ok. The only reason I could suggest that the staff are not available to assign to either rota, is that they have been assigned a NCC which closely resembles the 'free' token and you are mistaking that for a free lesson!

It did used to happen and some of the posts were most appropriate! That is why I started to challenge such posts. It made me unpopular with the Mods etc. but it seemed to work because the inappropriate posts did appear to dry up! Please note that I am not saying that the post by this OP is inappropriate................... but who knows ...............? We ain't far from Derbyshire and we are always willing to accept visitors to show what SIMS can do ...................

They don't have to be assigned as Teachers in SIMS Personnel. However, they do need to be set up correctly in Managing Classrooms Staff, with an appropiate Working Pattern, Staff Code etc. They then just match via their Staff Code in exactly the same manner as Teachers!

Maybe I should set myself up as a consultant for NT4 (and also Nova DOS if anybody still is using that!)

One does wonder why people are still trying to use NT4 for Construction purposes when NT6 has been available for so long. It hasn't been supported for years for this purpose and you can no longer transfer from NT4 to SQL! Very strange .........

I cannot comment on Progresso but I can about SIMS! We have been a SIMS School for very many years and are regarded as one of the more advanced users. We are a SIMS Partnership School (Just 50 out of 22,000 are ever awarded this status) and a SIMS UAT (User Acceptance Testing) Associate School. I can thoroughly recommend SIMS. Unlike some other systems, no knowledge of SQL programming is required. It is extremely flexible and you can set up your Assessment System in exactly the way you wish to do so, from base principles. The SIMS AM7 (Assessment Manager) Individual reports are excellent, as are the SIMS Profile Reports. We use the former for our 4x yearly data reports to parents and the latter for our longer 'once a year' reports. The latter works via Comment Banks but Assessment results etc can be embedded into the reports. The fact that you can publish these reports to SLG (SIMS Learning Gateway) is a massive bonus as Parents, Pupils and Staff alike can then access their reports online. Before you make your final decision I would suggest that you visit schools that use both systems successfully, so that you can judge for yourself which would suit you best. As a SIMS Partnership School, our door is always open to visitors. Unfortunately, it is our last day today before the Summer break. I will be working during the holiday but you would really need to chat to our Assessment Data Manager to get the best of a visit - though I could show you everything that we do in terms of Assessment Reporting. If you know of a local school with access to SIMS and to SupportNet then thread 'Individual Student's Attendance Summary by Subject reports (36360)' in the Forums will demonstrate some of the advanced procedures that can be embedded into Reports directly from SIMS Assessment Manager and from other areas of SIMS.

Check out Forum thread: School Diary (31410) on SupportNet. It refers to Dan Clark's report from many years ago as well as the one that I have just uploaded. Update I have just checked and there is a CES Diary Events List Report already in SIMS Reporting - in the Diary Focus. Maybe that is where I adopted mine from!

There are two ways of doing this:- 1) Just change the Timetable - see: KB33911 - Nova T6 - School wants to begin new timetable for second part of the Summer Term 2) Run full promotion - see: KB70075 - EOY - Beginning the new Academic Year before September Both KBs are on SupportNet.

Ok Keith. Let's just say I was a lot quicker than any machine that was around at that time! I was actually complimenting your program to others too!

Speckytecky, Timetabler has the ability to transfer the timetable directly to SIMS via the same/similar Curriculum Matching wizard that NT6 uses. You don't have to go via NT6 in this case! I believe it can do the same with other MISs as well! (Now that's novelty - me supporting a different product!)

Of course Graham! SIMS is one MIS that has a superb Timetabling package!

Timetabling! That's summat I have been doing for about 30 years! Firstly by hand - pencil, paper, forceps and magnetic strips on a foolscap size, steel metal sheet. There wasn't such a thing as a computer then! Then came Nova DOS. Then NovaT Windows followed by the takeover of Nova by Capita. At that stage Nova was in Windows but SIMS was still in DOS! Following on from NovaT came Modelling and Curriculum which led into NT6! And Yes - I still maintain NT4! NT6 can seem very daunting to the uninitiated, but is a superb tool that I would recommened to all Timetablers!

Please note that, if you already have a satellite installation of NT6, then you just have to copy the new NT6.exe across from its location on the server and paste it into C:\SNOVA\NovaT (if directory is setup in this way) of the satellite machine!

Who knows what the result of the consultations will produce.......?

No but we do not currently do not use Integrated LogIns. As part of BSF we are moving to the LA Managed Service - something I have been opposing for quite a while now. At that stage then we will be having Integrated Logins. Do you know the extent of this issue? Thanks Mike

Did this pupil subsequently become a member of staff? If both accounts (Student and Staff) were consolidated, a photo may have been added in a later year when that person was a staff member. They may have then left again a year or so later. We have a couple of members of staff who are ex-pupils. When their staff record was created the photo they had as a pupil was attached to that record. Obviously we then replaced this with a Staff photo!
