I do my best to find a 'release breaker' when I go down to UAT! I reckon I have done a couple of times! My best was when the new NT4-type Timetable Reporting (in SIMS) functionality could not cope with the complexity of my timetable, at Year Group Level. So they had to pull that bit of the functionality. It took nearly a year (and my subsequent datasets!) before they finally got working Year Timetables in SIMS! The problem is, the system is that vast, you just can't (as a user) test everything! The initial Spring release had the bug that I (and at least two other schools) spotted after release, and caused them to pull that version! I had not noticed it at UAT!
-
Now if we can get down to just the planned 3 Upgrades per year (i.e. no re-releases!) then 4 months will be fine - it should just be one set of main releases showing! Or is that too much to hope for?
-
At least with the new version you will only see 4 months worth of updates! This is from the release note of the new version: The From date in the Release date filter on the Manage updates page will now default to four months before the current date. This reduces the number of visible updates on the Manage updates page making finding recent updates easier.

There is still NT4 functionality that is not yet in either NT6 or SIMS. And yes I have seen the new NT6 funtuionality being delivered in the Summer! Don't worry - I have passed on my observations of what will still be missing!
-
I assume you found the Cover Statistics section?

As part of our process we demand that Teachers type in the current Levels or Grades etc. This ensures that the Comments are linked to a 'current' assessment. Our Profiles reports go out at a different time to the individual AM7 data reports that feed from AM7 Data Collection Marksheets. i.e. the actual Levels/Grades will have changed from the previous DC and will, no doubt, change again for the next one! This is by design! There is an 'incomplete' statement within the comment bank and the staff simply have to complete that statement with the Level/Grade (as well as including other relevant comments!). It certainly helps to focus the mind to rationalise the comments to the assesment!
-
Yes it does if you install the new version. Schoolcomms and InTouch - both excellent systems!
-
Apologies to those that think this post if 'Off Topic' but it needs to be said! The automatic Exam Alerts from SIMS InTouch is brilliant! You only have to set it up once for each Exam Session. It picks up all exams and all pupils in those exams! It is also very simple to email the Exam Timetable! And InTouch is relatively cheap once you have bought the licence! You can very quickly recoup the licence fee if you then use all the functionality!

[sims] Installing NOVA T6 Satellite when running on SOLUS3
Sivadam replied to Meldrew's topic in MIS Systems
That didn't take long. KB113008 confirms what you say and it will, hopefully, be sorted in the Summer Release, when the Satellite Setup program will upgrade via Solus3. -
[sims] Installing NOVA T6 Satellite when running on SOLUS3
Sivadam replied to Meldrew's topic in MIS Systems
We upgraded using Solus3 - for both Spring Releases! The copy of NT6 on this home PC is the current version! So the first part works - i.e. copying the NT6.exe file! 'Cos that's exactly how I did it! Which answers the question that was posed originally! Not sure about what you say about the second part of the fix! I'll look into that one! -
[sims] Installing NOVA T6 Satellite when running on SOLUS3
Sivadam replied to Meldrew's topic in MIS Systems
If he already has an older copy he can simply copy the new NT6 from the SNOVA directory and paste it into the relevant directory on his remote machine. Alternatively it can be set up using the NT Satellite Prog in the setups folder. There is a KB on Supportnet with simple instructions. Even I can follow 'em! KB31684 -
Correction In my post above - I obviously meant Room code and not Class code. You can use 4 digit Room Codes in NT6.
-
I can confirm that you can use 4 digit Class codes in NT6. e.g. A112 or 1234

Once we have the ability to Publish the Exam Results Report to SLG, our embargo will be set up so that it expires on the morning of the actual collection of the reports - probably at the exact time that the pupils are due to arrive to collect their reports.
-
I should add to my post above that the Exam Results can be made to appear in the Assessment Panel of SLG but AM7 Templates need to be set up first - for all subjects and all Exam resultsets. They cannot currently be made available via Exams Organiser Marksheets! This latter option was also discussed in my consultation meeting with a member of Capita staff! Bear in mind though that these Exam Aspects will not appear during the embargo and will also be in addition to any other normal AM7 Aspects that are being publisehd to this Panel!
-
Currently, 'you will need to create an individual report in Assessment Manager containing the exam result aspects and publish this to SLG.' However, this will not work during the embargo period. See: KB91944 - Is it possible for Parents and students to view Exams marksheet data I did take part in a consultation about what we might require re. publishing Examination details directly to SLG from Exams Organiser. i.e. Exam Timetables, Exams Results Sheets etc. etc. I thought that this was going to appear in the SLG Roadmap at some stage but it is not included yet!

Exactly! Each and every bona fida SIMS User can have a SupportNet Account, should they so need it!

Pain in the arn't they? I am longing for a contentious thread to appear so I can get 'controversial' again! Red squares are much better! I'm getting too boring in my senility! Mind you the comment is right. Apparantly I am .. 'a glorious beacon of light!' Nowt has changed there then!

I think we once got one Vista laptop working, in the dim and distant past. It needed a separate install with every Upgrade! Fortunately that particular machine no longer exists! And the person who insisted on having that platform is no longer in the school!

Or even 'Fools seldom .........'

I just realised that you said Spring 2011! We are now on Spring 2012 Upgrade - v7.144.36! And sorry - I cannot send information of that kind to you. If you are a bona fida SIMS user then you can get the info thro' normal channels!!
-
I just posted similar in the other thread!
-
One would hope that users would have the sense not to post such Passwords anyway! They should not be available on a public website! Legitimate users can get them from SupportNet or directly from Capita Support!
-
We have been on it for a while now, Tim. The problem we found with the initial release is resolved! The Spring Update works fine. No discernable effect on our LA Hosted SLG, which is probably on the Autumn Release (we never bother waiting now else we would never update SIMS!) We have now got InTouch installed on top of the Spring 2012, v7.144.36, and that looks fine too from initial testing! Sounds like a typical LA response! With apologies to all concerned obviously!

Support for CR No. 1203-1071007 would be appreciated today. We need to get 20 votes on by the end of the day to ensure that it is preserved in the new system! It is re. Discover and is asking for a further breakdown analysis of Absence Categories! Thanks to those that feel they can support it!
