I received CtC funding at one of our very small primary schools a couple of years ago. I pushed for UniFi kit and got it. All enterprise kit, we used UniFi everywhere else, I didn't want a different system etc and the school already had a cloudkey on-site. Still a fraction of the cost compared to a Meraki/Aruba setup.

UniFi... Pricing is good, support is improving, ability to extend warranty, easy to manage, fits DfE requirements.

I think Hirens has a BIOS reset tool, worth a try!

I just force automatic date and time within my restrictions profile. Does the trick. As for the profile issue, what iOS are the devices running? I have experienced some weird issues on older OS versions.

I heard the story on BBC news last night. Essentially, they have never recovered from Covid, people weren't using the carparks but they still had to pay the leases. Even now, they cannot financially recover as lots of people are still working from home, and not using them.

We avoid the local ones now. The spaces (line markings) are just not suitable for a large or longer style car. Normally one of us has to climb over the passenger seat pull out of the space then load up the car. We also got a ticket in one of these once, as our wheel was literally touching the "line" marking.

Controversial, but we are SWGfL (RM) and I can't complain. Never had any major outages, filtering and reporting works well, and pricing is fair (in my opinion) I also like how they have introduced off-site filtering for a range of devices, chromebooks, iPads etc. Support is good, just join a live chat through the dashboard - never waited more than 5 minutes to speak to an agent.

UniFi throughout here, mixture of the Pro 24/48 port PoE switches. Never had any issues, 10GB backhaul from each cab back to the main cab via the SFP ports. I have thought about adding an aggregation switch, but to be honest, it isn't really needed right now (unless we gain more cabs in the future). We use a physical Cloudkey, with the rackmount kit (makes it look tidy!) - never had any issues. It has been in place for about 4/5 years.

Great price at ~£413 in my opinion. I think schools will definitely be looking into these instead of opting for the Windows/Intune route (I would be, if ours weren't externally managed).

Agree, however... This is a tactical move from Apple (of course). If they allowed configurable specs like RAM, SSD etc it would completely wipe out their other product line up, people would just buy the Neo for £500 instead of spending £1000+ on a more expensive model.

Ah ok I see what you mean. I use Mosyle for our iPads (free version). I didn't realise that scripting etc was available for macs through it, useful feature though! Yeah, to be honest I have never really heard of anything apple related and "shared" being very positive. At my last Trust, we tried to look down the shared iPad route, but similar to your issue the 64gb on the 9th generation model just didn't cut it. Worked really well for 1:1 though.

Interesting points from everyone. Personally, I feel 8gb is enough - MacOS utilises RAM way more efficiently than it's counterparts. I still have a MacBook Air M1 (2020) with 8gb of ram, and it performs exceptionally well. The processor on the Neo can be compared to the M1 which again, is still a very capable chip in 2026. As other have said, a competing Windows laptop for example the Stonebook Pro would be around the same price (currently).
