hi everyone just a quick question is there a fix for this issue at all? I have 3 servers 1 is 2008 and the other two are 2008 r2 the clients are all windows xp but i will be adding a few windows 7 clients on shortly but for some reason on folder redirection of Documents under all pupil accounts doucments is actually My Documents I have tried logging in with a mac to the network and it is also looking for Documents. If i go into an account and rename the My Documents to Documents it works great both windows 7 and mac can see the documents but if i then go and log into an xp machine it recreates a My Documents folder with nothing in the folder? is there anyway to fix this so that no matter which machine i log into i am going to have access to the documents folder with everything inside?

its very strange can anyone help with this, i have got the Mac server linked with active directory on my windows side and the Mac clients are allowing legacy users to log in using single sign on which is great but now the Mac server is really doing nothing because none of the changes i make for the Mac Clients are working. I have been using Work group Manager but it doesnt see any computers unless i select active directory and then when i do select this i cant create groups or make changes to individual computer policies for MAC. I am not worried about the legacy equipment everuthing is working fine they are pulling policies and gpo through the windows server but all i wanted to do was allow any user to sign onto the mac clients but have the mac server sort everything else out for Mac's is this possible?

I was able to select the AD and see the test Imac here but i cant create groups it errors out when i try

in WGM it is looking at the local side on the mac so i changed this to look through AD and then added a mac suite and the test Imac into that suite but again when i go back into local it doesnt appear. this is only available if using WGM i am searching through AD

does anyone know why the mac clients would not be pulling down the policys from the mac server they log in through AD with no problems but dont seem to pull down any policy changes which i do on the mac server?

Hi everyone i have recently started using macs and i have just added my mac server to my windows active directory so that we can use single sign on but what i was wanting to know it keeps trying to pull the Documents folder down but because it is called My Documents it doesnt work is it possible to even seperate the accounts so that when they log onto mac it pulls the documents folder from the mac server instead of the windows server?

Hi Sparky They are dual ports if i use ports 25-32 (1000Base-T) then ports 17-24 cant be used but i dont have anything plugged into ports 17-24 to be used I am only trying to use 25-32 but when i log into the switch to see if says that those ports are shutdown

Hi everyone hoping that someone can help me with this issue, we just got a new H3C S5500-EI switch and i am trying to use the 8 10/100/1000 Base-T ports but they are not lighting up when i plug the servers into them. I have logged into the console but cannot find anything to do with the ports other than status to say that those specific ports are shutdown would anyone at all have any idea how i can change this status from shutdown to switched on for use? Hoping someone can help me with this issue

Does anyone know is it possible to allow teachers to view other courses without having to be enrolled in the course each time? I dont want to allow guests access to the courses because i dont want students to be able to enroll themselves to a course unless a staff member adds them but i would like to be able to allow other staff members to look into other courses to see what others are doing different than themselves if this is possible?

Thank you, we are one of those schools that dont have ftp access although if i need to get something changed it is possible only i cant ftp and do it myself

Thank you Marci this was just something i thought I would give a try and see if i would be able to maintain it at no cost i dont have any knowledge about php it may just be that we will have to work with what is available until over time i learn how to modify different sections.

how do some schools customize there moodle so much? at the moment i have been trying different themes can starting to get it looking slightly better would we need to design are own banners and then load them into a theme?

Hi everyone Hoping that I could get some help from here with setting up moodle, we have just recently had moodle hosted and I am in the stages of playing around before we put a link onto our website. I am having real problems when it comes to the design (not sure what I am doing learning this as i go along) but I am trying to change a theme to allow a drop down menu to run across also to try and customize the title to include our schools logo and name but really just don’t know how to do this. Are there custom themes out there which include the drop down menu. any help would be much appreciated

Thank you i am trying to figure out which policy i have on that is stopping staff and pupils from starting the index page i can understand that with my account i am administrator I have tried setting share permissions on the folder so that everyone can at least read but for some reason this didnt help. Users still get a message about the IP cannot be found. Would this have anything to do with locking out staff and students from running ping from cmd at all?

Hi everyone hoping someone can shed some light on the issue i am having here. I have install WAMP onto one of the servers and set the permission in the httpd.conf file to allow connections from the server and clients within an IP range, i have also added the port inbound rule to allow port 80 and everything is now working for me if i log onto any computer and open IE and type into address bar http://servername it works. The issue is when a staff or student logs on and trys the same they get the website cant be found error. is there something that i am missing to allow everyone else access to see this? I was also hoping to change it so that users dont need to type in http://servername would it be possible to change it so that when they first click on IE it opens the webpage to http://intranet (or is this just a simple rename of index to intranet and redirect IE to open \\servername\www\intranet? thank you for any help in advance

Hi everyone i was hoping for some advice on something that I would like to look at, I was wondering what i need to do to allow wireless around our school on all floors for staff to move anywhere in the school and always have access to the network. Also I would like to possibly look at allow our students access to the internet not any access to our school domain but just internet access possibly by using there authentication details if this was possible. What i am really asking is how could I get started with this what sort of costs would we be talking about have other schools done this before? Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
