  1. no problem thank you both, ill take the wim file from the disc but as ITJ suggested i am going to try reinstalling windows 10 on this machine upgrade fully then sys prep and run the install from WDS although this will only test on that specific machine might need to try on another 1 or 2 machines to be safe. I just need to look at creating the unattended install xml
  2. no problem i am just going to wipe a machine out here install windows 10 and do all updates then sysprep it and see if it works
  3. but I am just wondering will that activate for the single machine? I was going to use a windows 10 pro image but would that activate with multiple machines as long as they have been activated before? the code from memory looking at the windows 10 activations seems to be the same for each machine. - - - Updated - - - yea all these machines are digital entitlements with them running through the windows 7 pro to windows 10 pro upgrade.
  4. brilliant thank you ill give that a try today.
  5. Hi everyone I have a question about using WDS and windows 10 pro hoping someone might be able to confirm this for me please. I have recently upgraded my machines from windows 7 pro to windows 10 pro (not Volume Licenses) all individual activations per licensed machine and was considering now using WDS and create a windows 10 image. When windows 10 upgrades it then activates for that machine as long as the hardware hasn't changed am I correct? So is it possible then to create an image of windows 10 deploy through WDS and (if previously activated) will it reactivate? Hoping someone can confirm this for me. Thank you
  6. Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has run into this issue before: we recently upgrade to office 2016 through office 365 and only today someone has mentioned this to me that they had been sent links from a onedrive account in an email but for some reason those links do not appear in outlook 2016. They only knew about the links because they appear on the phone email client and then after a bit of checking I found the links also show on the OWA site but again not in the outlook 2016 client. We have sent this a number of times and the result is the same no links showing in outlook but they are appearing on the phone and OWA. Has anyone come across anything like this happening?
  7. Thank you thats great somtimes doing the cheap is not always the best espically if you wanting to see good results and the system to keep running the way it should
  8. yea thank you SYNACK I had thought that i was going to have to look at a managed system. thank you for getting back so quickly is this the route that everyone would go down just running a managed system?
  9. Hi Everyone just wanting to put this out there to see how others work around this, how would you support multiple wireless clients connecting to access points. if i had two full classes working away with about 25 pupils in each class and i was only using 1 wireless access point how would this work? that would mean i would have at least 50 clients trying to work through 1 wap how would i work around this ? If down the line we were to think about wireless throughout the school how could we cope with so many users trying to connect through a limited number of access points.

    Mac Accounts

thank you, what i would ideally like is to have the mac users use storage area on the mac this is just because of the size of the files that the pupils would be working with. This would stop the space being used on the windows my documents and dedicate the mac server for media studies pupils my documents. Would this be possible?

    Mac Accounts

Hi Everyone This year we have bought new Imacs and i have linked them to both AD and OD so that they can use single sign on and it all seems to be working fine they can login using there account and printers are available and it still uses the print server for credits which is great. What i am wondering is at the moment when the user logs in it is using the local disc as the storage area. I know it is possible that when the user logs in they can see there my documents on the windows side but would it also be possible to setup some sort of folder on the mac server which when the user logs in they can save to either windows my documents or mac my documents. It would also mean i would have a backup of there work because at the moment i cant backup because its stored locally.

    Software

thanks steve i have tried copying the plist into the default account but for some reason they still get asked about sending off there details. We are running 10.6 on the macs it seems to work now if i login again as admin and add the registration info again then when the pupils login they get a registration details form so when they click later the software works fine and it says that its registered to systems admin.

    Software

yes it needs a license i have bought the license for each mac and isntalled onto an image but it seems when i have imaged the mac it has removed the license key although i think i have got it sorted. I logged in again as the administrator and entered the key. then copied the final cut express folder which it creates in my documents into the shared user documents and pointed final cut back to the shared user document folder for final cut and it seems to be working now.

    Software

Hi everyone Hoping someone can help me here i have installed Final Cut Express onto our mac's and created an image of the Mac but nothing i did would allow the students to run the software which i had already registered on my image. Everytime a user other than me tries to run final cut express they need to fill out the registration details, is there anyway that i can stop this from happening so that i only register it the once but everyone can use it.

  18. Hi everyone hoping someone can help me here i have just started testing windows 7 in our school and so far its working great that i can login and get my documents on windows 7 no problem and on xp with no issues. The problem has now happened that when i login to windows 7 machine it works great very fast but when i move over to a windows xp machine it just sits at applying personal settings and doesnt go anywere. This has only started happening as of yesterday i dont understand why this is happening, i am using local profiles not mandatory profiles. Has anyone come accross this before or know why it doesnt allow me now to login to a windows xp machine. Thank you

  20. Hi Everyone I have just started getting ready to move all machines over to windows 7 and started making the gpo's but noticed once i join a computer to the domain that the windows 7 login picture frame is just blank. I have done a bit of research and seen that you would need to go through tweaking .dll file before I could set this to be a permanent image (for talk sake our schools logo) does anyone know of any other way that I could set our schools logo to be the permanent image
