Are you using WPAD and auto detect settings? Try unticking the proxy. this is just to check that your exceptions are working

couple of the simpler things to try first if you have a proxy make sure you include *localhost* in your proxy exceptions Check Sims services manager is running in services.msc

@Killer_Bot you are correct. just logged on to my Smoothwall and it does actually apply top to bottom (even states at the top of the policy window). I'm not certain whether this has changed with updates either. I'm convinced this must have changed with updates but questioning myself now because my block rule is out of place however my default AUP policy which is used with a block action is in the correct place. Found myself today's job is reorganizing and testing my smoothwall policies

Depends on the order of your policies. You will need to have your policies in the right order. If memory serves Smooth wall applies from bottom of your list up Eg 1. Global allow list - everyone - allow 2. Staff allow list - staffonly - allow 3. Global Blocklist - everyone - block If you tick a category in the Blocklist that category will block no matter what. If you tick a category in the staff allow list that isn't checked in the global allow list then only staff will be allowed to surf sites within that category. Everyone else cannot If you tick a category in global allow then everyone will be able to surf site within that category To summarise smooth wall will check each policy in order until it finds a tick against the category the site is in and action that policy if it does find one. Eg when I request access to porn hub.com (category porn checked in global block) smooth wall will ask is it a category checked in global Blocklist (it should be😂) and action that policy. Likewise if i request bbc.co.uk (checked only in global allow) it will review the global Blocklist the staff allow list and then global allow list If it does not match any rule I believe the action is default blocked

Also check dns on your dc as changing the name of a server will give 2 forward entries and 2 reverse entries Eg forward 192.168.0.1 serveroldname 192.168.0.1 servernewname Eg reverse Serveroldname 192.168.0.1 Servernewname 192.168.0.1

I immediately thought dns also. Did you use the same IP address also as your old server Is your connect.ini on the affected workstation redirected to the s:\sims\connect.ini If so rename c:\program files\sims\sims .net\connect.ini to connect.iniold Copy and paste server version of connect.ini in to same place Edit the connect.ini replacing your server name with the servers IP address.

Sounds quite odd. I agree i am under the impression if you block inheritance. Group policies above are not applied unless they Are the group policies enforced. Not sure weather the enforced part is true I read it somewhere onetime. Are your group policies enforced?

Found the model number now they are Epson Interactive short throw EB-575Wi All computers which are actually HP 280 G2 Sff in the same block that are identical are all using the same intel hd 530 driver. just wondered if anyone else had come across it before now

Background Last December In one big new build installation we installed 9 Epson ultra short throw projector (sorry cant recall the exact model) connected to HP prodesk 250 SFF via HDMI. All rooms exactly identical from an IT and AV setup prospective Problem Every now and again when you turn off the projector the pc BSOD. Doesn't happen everytime and only has been reported on two different computers of the 10 installed in the new build. when I have spoken to all the staff no one else has commented that they have ever experienced it even in the rooms that have been reported symptoms. but the multiple teachers over the times it had been reported have all explained similar symptoms. I personally have never witnessed it happening however the event logs show the BSOD occur. As far as I am aware and been informed this has only just started happening? Windows update??? Anyone else had this issue. unfortunately I didn't think at the time to extract the dmp file before reimaging the computer but next time it happens i will be sure to extract the dmp file and update this thread Any ideas??

Hi I am the author of the script detailed in the spice works link and I have been investigating the cause of this issue for a long time. My finding is that the ACS hang is a progressive issue and will is caused by a corrupt wbem repository which the computer is trying to repair and failing.. The bigger the repository the longer it takes to repair. This is caused by a simulated power cut or a ungraceful shutdown of the computer. I am guessing that students and teachers or caretakers turning the computer off at the wall or 5 sec power button hold. The solution is not permanent as the wbem can be corrupted at any point. The script stops and checks all dependent services. Deletes the wbem repository then wait 60 sec to allow it rebuild before restarting the computer. (This ensures all services are restarted Sometimes it takes longer than 60 sec to rebuild, so you could extend the timeout if you wish, however it does continues to rebuild once the computer restarts which shows a briefer ACS hang again but this time doesn't take as long. Once the repository is fully rebuilt the computer passes through ACS almost immediately. You could run the script on a schedule each night however rather than run a fix which not necessary all the time I have made my users aware and to report any computers that hangs for longer than 30 seconds. I then remote on to the computer run the script and allow the pc to reboot itself This method is alot quicker than reimaging Hope this helps and you are welcome to pm me if you want further advice

looking at documentation it is my understanding that Exchange 2010 SP3 is not supported within 2016 AD environments. We have currently 4 dc servers (2 x 2008r2, 1 x 2012r2, and 1x 2016) the idea was to roll the 2008r2's out of production for 2 x 2016 dcs. Any further advice would be appreciated

Server 2008r2 with Exchange 2013 (onsite) Earlier in the year I introduced a 2016 dc server and since I have not been able to create a new database in EMC The error itself references my 2016 dc in the error that has been redacted in the screen shot. Is it installing a driver of the internet and possibly corrupting it. Never liked those encrypted usb sticks although never faced this issue before. Personally and anyone who carries a usb still I have educated them on bitlocker to go and for the others have created an rds server so that data doesn't have to be carried around

There are plenty of network monitoring systems free and paid that report exactly what you are trying to achieve and more. Scom for instance that i think comes with your licensing agreement. Nagios is another which is free linux based. I run Nagios and the output is basic but is a brilliant traffic light system that gives me the status of many aspects of all my servers on one page. I'm sure I could export historical data to create a graph.

I suggest setting printing defaults to feed from tray 2 rather than auto. Check the printers setting both on the printer and on the driver. If it is set up correctly it shouldnt request a4 printouts from tray 1 at all unless specifically asked to by the user. Some printers you can disable tray 1.

My Vote yes... I have thrown vga in for good measure. Im running cables anyway. No different having one extra and it doesnt cost much for it. Plenty of teachers out there with laptops with only vga.

+1 @spr Go through all your updates and decline all the superseded updates. You can add the dupercedance column in wsus. Then run the cleanup wizard.
