  1. Had this loads this week things I have tried that have kind of stopped it; - turned off recording ability for students - turned off recording for any teaching assistants or admin staff that don't need it - the above cut down on a few but it was still happening. Asked the teacher to reset the meeting link code 4 times in a row this has solved it so far today...none reported.
  2. This happened before to us in October. They didn't directly admit to it but at the time I am pretty sure it was an issue with the amount of traffic hitting them. They had to disable the feature that shows teachers if the parent is online or offline. I noticed that feature is now back on....
  3. Folks i know this might have already been posted but I cannot find anything immediate so sorry in advance. Any recommendations for software that can enable a teacher to block a single student from using chat function in Google Meet? I did find this app https://xfanatical.com/product/safe-doc/ but wondering if people have any other experiences with different software.
  4. Thanks bud I have worked through this list but problem still persists. Its almost like the Rocket doesn't know it needs to pass the device onto Relay unless I tell it specifically to ignore it but internal ignores give me the chills. I guess my only other option is to put ChromeBooks on statics then put that range on an internal ignore on the Rocket.

    £500 Gaming pc

Worth checking on OCUK for B grade 2060 super, I picked one up on Friday it was listed £400 i offered them £200 via the pre-sales forum and got it for £209
  6. Bit late to the party moving to Relay but we have a Rocket appliance on site that we use for everything else but the ChromeBooks we are moving on to Relay. I cannot get the ChromeBooks to work without putting them on an internal ignore on the Rocket which I don't really want to do. I am told that the Relay Smart Agent extension should talk to the Rocket and the Rocket will ignore them and let Relay do its thing but I must be missing something. I have the DNS forward lookup zone setup for Relay....any other gotchas that people know of with this? Thanks
  7. 20 kids in school. I can do 85% of my job from home so only going in for anything physical needing fixing (at moment haven't been in for over a week). Tech company we use have pulled techs on site unless really needed. Just pushed GC out here as well we shall see what the uptake is like.
  8. We are 60+ staff, 640 kids, maybe around 300+ devices mostly Windows. Full time IT Manager me then term time we have support from third party technicians two days a week term time although this has been reduced to two half-days. Since moving away from Citrix in the summer and rebuilding our server infrastructure things have settled down a lot.
  9. I upgraded all my servers to SSD drives in the summer not sure if its overkill but its all very quick
  10. We have found the same and its actually led to complaints from visitors. Will be trying the black and red rolls soon see if that helps but tried almost everything else.
  11. Same for me with Exponential-e. I get a text to my phone if it goes down + email notification then a follow-up when its been solved. Only happened twice in 3 years though. Its a must have for service providers, its better to get ahead of the 'outage outrage'
  12. I used https://phishinsight.trendmicro.com to-do a phishing simulation it as its free. It also has training on there which you can email out to staff etc
  13. Lightspeed is the best out there right now.
  14. :pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound:
  15. I use WakeOnLanx by Cocobolo Software, LLC
  16. Google Jamboard might be a good alternative? I saw a demo of it at BETT.
  17. Onsite firewall + filtering. Currently we are using and are very happy with; Exponential-e for the internet line Lightspeed for filtering (purchased via Expo) Lynx networks for Cisco firewall I had a good chat with the guys at Exa networks at BETT they seem pretty switched on but I have no experience as customer. https://exa.net.uk
  18. Also stupid question and a long shot but is there any chance system restore/recovery was still turned on ?
  19. I could of sworn last years was slightly better it had an interactive map that worked on your location, you could add all the stands you wanted to visit and it had them highlighted on the map..dont see anything like that this year
  20. Just discussing it here its not gone down well at all I had to sign up for 2 badges because I couldn't log on with my previous one.
  21. Few suggestions mostly using data recovery tools; https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva - I have used this before to recovery a user profile and it worked really well. I cannot speak for the other tools below. https://www.easeus.com/file-recovery/recover-deleted-user-profile-and-files-in-windows-10.html https://www.ntfsundelete.com https://www.hirensbootcd.org contains some recovery tools as well
  22. I have an issue where delprof2 cannot delete a reg key when deleting a user profile (see below) I think this then causes issues when they try to log back in
  23. We use Civica here. They provided a till + their own pc for running the system. We put it on its own internal network so the till connects directly to the PC via mini switch then the PC connects to our network to do its syncs with SIMS + ParentPay. We use it with biometric thumb print or a 4 digit PIN code for those not comfortable with thumb print. Support is pretty good they remote on and sort most issues out so I rarely have to go down there unless its a physical issue... broken Ethernet ports etc or just updating SIMS on their PC.
  24. Exponential-e for us 100/100mb leased line via Virgin. Filtering is from Lightspeed with an onsite Rocket device.
  25. We use https://wakeonlanx.com/wakeonlanx/
