Turns out it's the file permissions on the truenas file server. Something's bugged and causing them to apply in an incorrect order. Been advised the only way to resolve it is apparently to rebuild it. If only I had found this a couple of weeks ago, half-term would have been ideal. Now I've got an IT teacher wanting it done asap when the file server holds all the redirected profile folders. Yikes.

Nothing in AD - just user folders redirected to a filestore. Checked GP Settings and nothing for AppData redirected

All user folders are redirected to a fileshare (Desktop, Docs, Pictures, Videos etc) AppData isn't redirected. I've not long taken over this network and still figuring out how it's set up. Pupils use HWB to login on Creative Cloud/Adobe software. With regards to Welsh Gov and the Ceredigion SLA - we are not a HWB school, we're a Google School.

Having trouble with Adobe Animate (any version) refusing to open for network users - Pupils & Staff. Devices being used: Lenovo M70q - 11DU for pupil IT suites. Lenovo E495 laptops for 6th Form Lenovo E14 laptops for Staff I've pre-installed a selection of apps using PDQ (Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Character Animator, Media Encoder) to reduce a bit of strain on the network. All software seems to open fine without any issues and runs perfectly for staff and pupils alike, apart from Adobe Animate. It'll load the splash screen, then build the workspace and just hang. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, even set it so the users are able to install/uninstall/update applications from within the Creative Cloud app and done it under a staff test login and a pupil test login. It'll run for me on my Administrator account, it'll work for pupils & staff if running as Administrator. I've been through all my GPOs looking for restrictions, even Adobe crash logs don't seem to be pointing me in any direction. I'm on the verge of pulling my hair out over it. - - - Updated - - - I've ensured all users have read-write permissions on the following folders as well: C:\Program Files\Adobe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe C:\ProgramData\Adobe C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe. Solution Found! Just in case it helps someone else in the future, I found the previous NM's SIMS credentials buried in SOLUS 3 Deployment UI Environment > Targets > Services > SIMS DMS > Edit > Removed his SIMS user details and added my account. Guess I'm going to have to make a generic user for just updating SIMS to prevent this happening for the future.

Hi all, Recently the previous NM left and did no SIMS updates since April, I've spent my weekend getting this done, battling through permission issues and wondering if this is just another one of those. I've been releasing each patch/update one by one and letting them complete before releasing the next update. The following filesets are all erroring with the same error: Fileset 2101 Fileset 2102 Fileset 2201 Fileset 2203 Fileset 2204 Error from Fileset 2204: Installation failed. Reason: CannotConnectToDatabase - Package: 705589a0-2875-43b3-88f8-fde8e8cdeeef This was discovered after the exams officer was having issues with PLASC and needed Fileset 2204. If anyone has any ideas, I would be really appreciative as I'm stumped!

Can I just say, this is still relevant. Predecessor left, deleted his account and created a generic IT Support account. By deleting his account, no other account could deploy the updates. I've been going round in circles the last couple of hours trying to figure out why I couldn't deploy the updates. He hadn't updated the SIMS server going back to April this year. Thank you so so much.

It normally fills the screen, is that a monitor on a splitter with the board and the PC?

I've got the same, set up 6 new laptops, 4 were Lenovo E14's, 2 were Lenovo E495's. All pick up the printers bar 1 E495 and I can't figure it out. It's picking up all the group policies, deployed all the same PDQ package to each machine. Just this one is refusing.

Thank you all for your help! I really appreciate it! Turns out the domain/user was the trick! As well as selecting things in the correct order, such as product > device.

Really stupid question though, does the SOLUS3 agent need installing first, or just adding it in via the AD method work?

Yes, I use that account for logging in on devices, as well as deploying images.

Oof, the credentials I supplied were the previous NM's Account (credentials reset and turned it into an admin account as I've not fully figured out some missing permissions from my admin a/c) that's where I've been going wrong. Guessing there's some dedicated credentials somewhere that I've not yet found. I'll have to check the other device hostnames as they're on a note on my desk. Thanks Steve, I really appreciate your replies. edit: Just an additional thought - odd that it's deployed to one of the 6 new devices though using those credentials

Been getting a bit fraught with new teachers hunting me down for SIMS as they want their Classcharts access [emoji28] It is all setup and working already, I added the devices via AD browse bit and they've just been failing and stating they're offline, all bar one. They're freshly imaged devices. From my understanding FMS is the financial side of things, so new devices for classroom teachers shouldn't require this bit? Or am I entirely wrong in this assumption?

Hi all, I'm a primary tech who's very recently been thrust into the work of NM since my predecessor left for pastures new, I've been left with no documentation apart from a network map and a server list. I've managed to sort out the onboarding for the new year 7, GPM, AD, Folder redirection and all that. I've had an influx of new staff and deploying SIMS appears to be the straw that's about to break the camel's back. Does anyone have a guide they could throw my way regarding deployment of SIMS to devices using SOLUS 3? I just can't get my head round it. Currently going through baptism by hellfire for my first start of academic year as NM but survived so far... many thanks in advance!

Ouch! A teacher refused to take their laptop home as they were scared of causing damage. They spilt a hot drink over it, in school and continued to use it for a few weeks until it ultimately died, then reported it to me. Repair came to over £600. Cheaper to order a new one.

Just discovered this with Lenovo for the E495's - had one pupil laptop back with bend network port pins and they're classing it as 'customer induced damage' I dread to think.

I've had it with a couple of Chromebooks and couple of the laptops. With the laptops, I've just logged it direct with Lenovo as it picks up the warranty from the serial number: Lenovo Warranty Repair

No plan other than a mention of wave 4 from the LEA and we had to request the catalogue to see what was even being considered. But we've heard nothing about it since. Whilst we were on wave 3, a batch of my devices were delivered to a neighbouring county in error. When I went to collect, their project officer mentioned that they were already purchasing wave 4 with IWB/projector replacements [emoji24]

We had ours without any ties to HWB. I manage them, I enroll them. Granted we had to buy licences, but it's been so much better for us.

That was the intention, unfortunately all my cluster have limitations of number of staff in a room so everyone has spread through the buildings and I have no dedicated space at any of my sites. Not to mention the Network Manager at the high school refuses to help with anything to do with the primary sites. So I rarely get chance to get them sorted in his office unless he's on holiday - which is never, the man never leaves.

Yikes, we've got the infrastructure in place. but since our council has cut all funding for primary IT support - I have been informed there is no job for me in the spring. But so much still needs to be done.

Anyone moved onto the phase with IWBs? I haven't even been able to roll out the PCs from Wave 3 yet as I'm term-time only and not allowed access to classrooms within the schools at the moment, only during break/lunchtime when the kids aren't in there. Getting things done is slow at the moment.
