I'm guessing KLA=department? When we rolled it out we didn't actually encounter any staff resistance (surprising I know!). In fact the staff members that don't have it because they're only in one department are asking for it to be enabled for them as well as they like the fact it shows them the total cost of a job before printing!

I've got a quote for RES powerfuse that worked out to be about £26/seat - over £10k for us! Very expensive, but they both look like great additions

We paid around that for Papercut last year. Been a great product for us Currently been running papercut without any quotas since September. From the start of the next term (June) we'll be recharging all staff printing to departments. Through papercut staff that are in more than one department get a pop-up asking which department to charge the print to. It'll be up to department heads to come down hard on staff to reduce their printing. For staff colour will be charged at 9p/page and Mono at 2p/page. Students will get an amount of credit given at the start of each half term which will then be topped up each week. Mono prints will be 4p and colour 20p. Currently looking at about £5 at the start of term and then 20-50p/week extra.

I'm currently looking at putting together a tender for some (well a lot) of switches that we need to replace. As we suspect the amount will be over the councils competitive tender threshold we have to go out to competitive tender. I was just wondering if anyone here has put together a tender before? I'd be really interested in seeing someones completed tender documentation and/or talking to someone thats been through the process. Also if anyone can suggest a suitable trade publication for publishing notification of the invitation to tender that would be great

When people talk about tender do they mean getting 3 quotes (or more) from suppliers or a proper tender process having to advertise in local/trade press, sealed bids that can only be opened after the closing date and scoring each bid based on a pre-agreed scoring matrix etc etc? For us for instance anything over 5k has to have at least 3 quotes (below 5k 1 quote is OK), but if an order/project is going to cost more than 50k across it's entire lifespan then we have to go through a formal tender process.

Have a selection of suppliers that we use regularly and get three quotes from for most items. Suppliers tend to make it onto this list if they are cheap (Insight with OGC pricing for instance), friendly and helpful. If I find a supplier pushy or doesn't live up to expectations I just stop using them. Haven't had the pleasure of an audit yet, but our finance team are fairly happy with how we handle things. Just about to be involved in our first set of purchases that will need to go to tender - not looking forward to that!

Also using GPP's to deploy printers here. Like john we deploy mainly based on computer OU and it works great for us

I'd also agree to go with Latitude rather than Vostro if at all possible. I've found the vostro range tend to use NICs that make it difficult to image a PC through FOG/Ghost/WDS whereas the latitude range use Intel NICs.

I got a quote from them back in September but waiting for this years budget before we start comparing products. The price I've got for various agents isn't too bad - certainly a lot cheaper than BE!

Same as webman/srochford - Type "ed" into the Chrome address bar and hit enter which takes me to the "New Posts" screen. After the first browse I tend to stick ispy on. If I've been away from my machine for a while I'll go back to the new posts screen and see what I've missed.

I currently use Sherweb (#1 Microsoft Hosted Exchange & Sharepoint Web Hosting | SherWeb) based in Canada. Had nothing but great service from them over the past three years. Around $9/month for a 3gb exchange box.

We have two 10kva hardwired UPS for the entire server room. These each feed a PDU in the server racks. All servers/switches connect to both of these PDUs to ensure that all servers are connected to more than one UPS
