  1. what do you use to edit the mp4 video files? (assuming they output in mp4)
  2. have tried a vbs script; Set objNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") strLocalDrive = "y:" strRemoteShare = "\\10.218.166.61\Impact" strPer = "FALSE" strUsr = "Localadmin" strPas = "password" objNetwork.MapNetworkDrive strLocalDrive, strRemoteShare, strPer, strUsr, strPas mDrive = "y:" Set oShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application") oShell.NameSpace(mDrive).Self.Name = "Impact" replacing the password appropriatly to no effect, and also a batch script net use y: \\10.218.166.61\Impact password/user:Loacladmin nither of the two worked.
  3. doesn't do mp4 to avi apparently.
  4. isn't that an ethernet cable? why would u use that for audio?
  5. i think i've found a convertor for them to use, Total Video Converter convert video files, video format converter - OJOsoft, the demo looks nice and it does the trick.
  6. Not unless they are releasing a version that i can run in a virtual enviroment, then it would make sence. our securus server (the racked version) looks as if it's built on some high powered router, the mobo has 4 network sockets with possible 12 (not on securus tho) 900MHz processor (i think), serial on front... take away the securus and it's router hardware (i would say - have no technical knowledge to back this tho).
  7. Nothing beats the heater... it's what there for.
  8. Sounds interesting, but i wonder it it'll run on any old box i can find rather than their £800 pc.
  9. I find the same. I make my own audio cables using some cheaper than pro components, find no difference, and with digital - it's ither there or not. Qualitity affects analogue more than digital, and HDMI i think is mostly digital.
  10. Could it be a dodgy surge filter, or possibly one PSU creating the spike?
  11. I've tried using this but windows movie maker doesn't like the AVI's, i've tried Free online media file conversion (Document, Images, Audio, Video & Archives) also but that didn't work ither. Are there any other convertors i should try?
  12. Ours was down today for an hour and last time it snowed it went down for 3hrs, NOT inpressed. If that were a comercial site, the owner would be seeking compensation, thats if it went down. It's barmy that such an inportant system, is so.... crap.
  13. It's bad. A can of de-icer is really cheap these days, and although not good for the enviroment, it is better that killing someone. Or better still, sit in the car for 3 mins with the window heaters on. Silly drivers. (I'm learning atm, but i used to cycle alot untill me bike broke.)
  14. I've done this and Windows Movie Maker still errors out with "The file" XYZ "is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.
  15. Hi, i'm looking at some of these for a 32 channel install (so two of them), anyone else use them, or anything else from AVerMedia. DVR Hybrid EH5216 I'm particularly interested it the webviewing and then the recording software?
  16. CC4 DOES add alot of overhead, but it does come with some nice features, like background installs. In my opinion, CC4 isn't worth having; it doesn't provide anything i cant do with vanilla and OSS within 2 weeks. And i could probably remove the CC4 overhead easily this way. There is one limiting factor at the mo for CC4 - no win7 support. But it will be added we are told.
  17. I agree with webman. These isn't anything on CC3 that holds you back. I was on a CC3 network but moved to CC4, again, there isn't anything that holds you back.
  18. You could always have an extra router for each network. You'ld end up with n+1 routers if n is the number of networks. Have your internet go to one network (10.1.2.3), then have a router between that and the internal networks, one router for each, the WAN port on each connected to 10.1.2.3 network. Each network will be able to access up the tree (so the internet) but not the other netwroks behind their individule routers without some exceptions being manually added. If it's only light internet traffic going accross the networks then some basic netgear 'cable' routers would do the trick. NETGEAR|WGR614 UK|54MBPS WIRELESS BROADBAND ROUTER | CPC.
  19. Largly depends on the type of 3D effect used. If it's a blue red like the comics used to be then colourblind will affect i believe, if it's 2 polarised images with polarised glasses then having one eye differ to the other will affect, but not too badly, if it's the new shutter type of 3D (which i doubt), then having one eye that differs will affect it badly. Most now use the polarised i beilieve where 2 images are projected on different planes, one vertically polarised the other horisontally polarised, with glasses that allow one plane to each eye. Hence you see two seperate images creating a 3D image. Being colour blind with identical eyes shouldn't affect this. My GF is -17 in one eye i think (so practically blind in it), and she just wore the glasses and saw it in 2D.
  20. The Greenest solution would be to switch the units off at the wall outlet. But that can create other issues by it'self.
  21. I just brought my sister a dabs.com - Best Value 10.1" Net Book Black Atom N270 1GB 160GB XP Home (NB-1001), looks good from spec and now it's out of the box. Aparently battery life is only 2 hours, but i havent had a chance to confirm it. It's actually made by DGM, or digimate, a company who i have other products from and have always been reliable for me. Tho the Two screens i have i would say were a little too flimsy for school use. But i'm thinking about getting myself one now to compliment my NC10 (which belongs to my workplace.)
  22. worth seeing then? i must admit both me and the gf thought st trinians 2 was s**t.
  23. Indeed. I know i should go for UHF but havent got the £££ if they'll be useless in two years.
