Earthling

I've been ten stone, give or take a pound or two, for as long as I can remember. I joined a gym about 20 years ago, to put on some weight (never happened) and to ease what I thought was a muscular pain in my back. Ten months and £380 poorer, I had a kidney stone removed. Which, funnily enough, got rid of the pain in my back.

Two rooms of pc's, one smaller room of thin-clients and another even smaller room with tin-clients. No BYOD, we don't have the wi-fi infrasructure necessary.

I'm being let out for the day (on my own, too) to attend BETT this year. I'm planning on the Friday so I can go and listen to Brian Cox. Is there an Edugeek presence this year where I can rest my feet for a little while?

What I don't get is........ .....if the World's gonna end on 21/12/2012......... ......why is it going to end at ........ 11.11? Edit: I really DON'T want anyone explaining the Mayan calendar to me in great detail, thus explaining why. Thanks all the same.

Dells for servers and workstations. Takes me less than 15 seconds to get the hard drive out of one our new Dells for re-imaging. Servers: Had the DVD drive go in one of our domain controllers (years ago) and a NIC in our Smoothwall (years ago too), but both replaced same day, no problems. Since then, they've been boringly solid. Procurve switches for the lifetime guarantee. Wouldn't touch HP laptops or workstations with the proverbial barge-pole. Just a preference.

That's not fair either, some of them work very hard in the movies and all sorts.

I think that's unfair to fridge magnet letters.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that's a very good reason FOR the argument.

Easy life like what? Three months off per year, maybe? Protected 'professional' status? Protected 'free-time' during a working day? And all the other stuff that teachers get that I don't even know about? Or maybe we'd like teachers to NOT leave their brains in the staff-room when they teach in a computer room. That would be easier. Or for them to ask us before they buy, magpie-like, the latest bit of shiney-shiney then bring it to us saying 'I can't find Word on this'. That would be easier, too. Or to ask us about the latest bit of 'Wonderful-do-it-all-makes-you-a-better-teacher-in-two-easy-clicks' software, before they bring it to us saying 'It says on the box it's not supported on Terminal Services so can you make it work on the thin-clients?'. I kid you not with that one, but that would be easier, too.

Absolutely, can't recommend them highly enough. Used both the Watford and Milton Keynes branches and the same excellent service in both. Funny.......I have a Sony sub (the model escapes me) and it's plenty good enough for the living-room in my one-bed flat. I had it cranked up while the flat downstairs was empty, but when the new tenants moved in, they mentioned that it was a bit loud, so being the Considerate Neighbour that I am, I turned it down. A little bit. Don't want to be too considerate.

I've got floor-standing front and bookshelf rear speakers. There's a huge difference if I switch the sub off, although I never noticed the lack of a sub until I got one, if you know what I mean. Another +1 for Richer Sounds, got it all from there in 2001.

I bypass my TV audio completely and plug my Virgin box straight into my cinema system with an SP/DIF optical cable. The amp is a Sherwood RD6102 (I think, ages since I looked at it, it's about 12 years old now), it looks like this, http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000022881.pdf from the front, but probably got lots less on the back.

I'm gonna have to ring it now to find out what the music is. Smoothwall is one of the least used numbers that I have. That's a testament to how well it works, by the way.

Daughter 28 Son 24 Daughter 20 The two girls are a constant source of entertainment with their interaction. Giving Birthday cards to each other that say things like 'On the day that Mum & Dad pretend to love you as much as they love me'. The son, a constant source of a different kind of entertainment.

Deck Length 1.0? No, mate, 'fraid not, you need to be at least Deck Length 1.5 and have the Arrestor Gear plug-in for landings. If you want to take-off as well as land, you need Steam Catapult 4.2, that's due in Service Pack 2.
