I would build the new server first make sure that AD is replicating properly and then sort out the old one - last thing you're going to want is a completely failed AD structure...

This may seem a little silly but I know it is an issue that plagues our school... if the passwords are over 20 Characters the login box trims it down and therefore not passing it to LDAP properly and failing the authentication. We have had to tell everyone here to keep their passwords below 20 characters until moodle fix the issue - we are running version 1.9 and 2.8 and both do this.

With FSRM the best thing to do is create the template first. Then when applying it, configure it to hit the top level folder, so for example, our user areas are set like this: D:\Users\Intake2013\userX D:\Users\Intake2013\userY D:\Users\Intake2013\userZ etc We have quotas set on D:\USERS\Intake2013\* the * literally means that the quota template will apply to all sub-folders, so the template will (ours is 3Gb Hard) auto apply to any subfolder that is created - therefore when new accounts are created beneath the top level folder the quota will get automatically applied Hope this makes sense S_A

We run Hyper-v on all our servers, we used VMWare until it got stupid expensive (we have 10 hosts) - if I'm honest the VMware management tools blow the System Center ones out the water but i'm just nit picking. Just as an aside our Exchange 2010 server is running on 2008R2 and the server I am trying to remote manage from is 2012...

Thanks @pete your time is appreciated! Yes it does very much look that way! This is what I get from the Powershell prompt WinRM already is set up to receive requests on this machine. WinRM already is set up for remote management on this machine.

Ok this has been bugging me for days and I cannot for the life of me figure it out... We run exchange 2010 (all services on one server), the Management Console and the Management Shell work perfectly fine on the local server. The issue I am having is that I am trying to get the Exchange Management Console to work on a remote server. The tools are installed, but every time I run the Exchange managment console, it tries to connect and I get the following message: When running the Exchange Managment Shell I get the following also: I have tried various suggestions from the interwebs including all the steps here: Blogs - Exchange Team Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs Really beating my head against the wall on this - any help will be appreciated Cheers

If it were me after visiting both LA and Vegas about 8 years ago I would sort a car and take a steady drive out to Vegas - IIRC its about a 5 hour drive with the LA traffic. when you get to Vegas do a bit of sightseeing there instead... go visit the Hoover Dam and if you have time the Grand Canyon that imo will be much more worth it than a whistle stop tour of LA.

As others have said it is just a controller Keyboard (athough a feature packed one) it basically means that it has no built in sounds and will require a sound module to produce the sound the module sits in between the keyboard and the speakers, a laptop can be used but imo latency may be an issue especially for learners... a cheap(ish) module will sound good for what she needs and should also allow for different sounds if she ever wants to make it sound different HTH

Yeah it was nothing too bad tbh just a failed server and the headache of sorting that out. It's just one of those things that makes you think! I've been at this school for 10 years and never seen anything like this! Thanks for your concern though

It was the only casualty thankfully... but it really does make you think!! what was even more worrying was the server it was connected to was still on - the hard drive was fried but there was will power going to the machine...

I tried two separate posts and the images are not showing in either, show fine in the editor though...

Stuff like this really makes you think... ... I really need Halon protection in my server room :/
