Our very own Tony will be chairing the event. RM will pay expenses etc so if wish to attend then please email [email protected]. Russell

GrumbleDook Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 The agenda is not fixed yet but it is likely to consist of RM representative talking about the bids they have won and why, the methodology they hope to bring to each contract (and it varies from contract to contract remember), the goals and ideals and this to be counter-pointed with Q&A sessions. The questions and points raised in this thread are likely to form the basis of questions that will be given to the RM representatives in advance, but I have also had a long chat with Steve Moss about BSF and things to look out for. I will try and break the questions into 5 areas. 1 - The roles of support staff in BSF schools (who makes the decisions? Finance, educators, technical staff, managment?) 2 - Independence or collaboration (or why schools are forced to share) 3 - The impact of IT on education (what is IT meant to be doing in schools?) 4 - Where has all the innovation gone? (how tied down are schools to restricting what staff to?) 5 - Training, CPD and the future. (Where do we go from here?) If anyone wants to change this around a bit then let me know.

Also I am happy that Rob Sirs has agreed to be part of it as he is the Chief Operating Officer I will let wikipedia tell us what a Chief Operating Officer does. A Chief Operating Officer or Chief Operations Officer (COO) is a corporate officer responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the corporation. The COO is one of the highest ranking members of an organization, monitoring the daily operations of the company and reporting to the Board of Directors. The COO is usually an executive or senior vice president. The chief operating officer is responsible for operations management (OM). The focus of the COO is on strategic, tactical, and short-term OM, which means he or she is responsible for the design, operation, and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the firm's products/services. Managers need to understand the real work behind the company's core operations, and the buck stops with the COO, whose primary concern is operations improvement. The duties of the COO may reside in certain organizations with a Vice President of Operations. Pretty much apart from ceo and chairmen there is no one higher in RM. Russell.

I'm currently leaning towards the Oxford South (Didcot) Permier Travel Inn for accommodation - a little rubbish but I don't want to take the piss with the expenses (I will be claiming over 400miles after all). Does anybody else have any suggestions.... perhaps with a decent bar?
